I went to Lee's for an eye exam, which was very thorough. I am in a power wheelchair and they had to rearrange the exam area for almost 20 minutes before the exam could begin, even tho I had given them warning beforehand. Not an auspicious start to a relationship. An optician sort of helped me choose a frame for my new prescription while she was micromanaging the other person in the room at the same time. Estimated time to receive my new glasses: 14 business days without any offer to rush the order. At the 13th business day I received a text from them indicating that my glasses had arrived at their office. I went in this afternoon, excited to be able to see better! There was a teenager behind the desk, apparently failing to find the glasses of the customer who was already in the office when I entered. Another employee arrived and took up where the teenager was searching so the teenager turned to me to see what I needed. I suggested that they needed to finish helping him first before they started helping me. (Basic customer service, in my mind.) The teenager insisted, so I gave her my name and what I was there for. But the second employee jumped on my order instead of staying with the first customer's request. The teenager located my "ticket" and handed me the glasses held within. They were the wrong frames: gray when they should have been a deep rose/purple. I had never looked at the grey frames. Then another employee came in and, in a very snide way, told the employee looking for the glasses for the first customer that they had been put in a special place that only she knew of because he was there for an exam (poor communication). Then she jumped in to my conversation with the teenager saying, again snidely, that the grey frames didn't come in the color I was describing and walked away. The second employee picked up the discussion and walked me through getting the order remade with the correct frames, which I found without anyone helping. The third employee then jumped into when the second employee was doing (micromanaging, again) and pointed out something on the computer to her. I feel that the 3rd employee's standard operating mode is "snide" because she talked and acted that way the first time I was in that office. When/if I finally receive my new glasses I will not be returning to this office for any service in the future. Yes, a great selection of frames and then taking the time to make the measurements correctly. But there are too many fingers in the pie. I wonder how many other orders get messed up due to the frenetic pace of the front office. read more

I went into Lee's hoping to get help with the spectacles I had bought from them. A nose pad had fallen off, leaving a short plastic stub on the frame. Gluing the pad back did not work, so I went in with the hope of getting my spectacles fixed before my Christmas travel. At Lee's, the lady behind the counter, Lydia, took my spectacles and, without explaining to me, she began tugging at the area where the plastic stub was. I was alarmed and asked her what she was doing - I couldn't see what was going on and was worried that she might accidentally tug off the other remaining nose pad, which was the only pad keeping the frames perched on my nose. That might have rubbed her the wrong way - she stopped and handed me back my specs, and asked me if I had tried to glue back the pad. When I answered that I had, she told me curtly - "you glued it - there's nothing we can do to help". She said this a few times in quick succession, as if it was an incantation that would make everything right. Fortunately, after asking patiently for her help and a little back-and-forth, I removed the plastic stub myself on the spot (with pliers they lent me) and she gave me a replacement pad. I learnt that she had assumed (wrongly) that I had used superglue (that would have bonded the stub to the frame), and had to clarify that I had used a weak glue. I was a little saddened that Lydia seemed so unwilling to help me in this time of need. If I had not kept a cool head and clarified the situation with her, I suspect I would not have been helped at all. I have had a good experience over the past six years buying spectacles at Lee's Optometrics, but the after-sales service today leaves much to be desired. read more

Aside from the fact that this place & their rather outdated equipment are not exactly up to par, they won't even let you in the door to browse, unless you show them proof of being fully vaccinated! I mean really, when you can freely walk into Warby Parker just around the corner for a much larger selection & much friendlier assistance. I wonder how they can afford to be so unfriendly & vaccine paranoids when most everyone in this area is already fully vaccinated. U shouldn't be forced to show proof upon entry just to browse a few spectacles while wearing a mask . I ended up spending over 2K over at Warby's when absolutely no fuss about having to show proof of vaccination. Just ridiculous!! What a joke.... read more

I walked by the store for a repair and I am now also a patient. Came in with my broken glasses and the opticians there fixed it for me. I thought it was unsalvageable since I fell and stepped on my frames. They were able to use their magical hands and make it look brand new again. They warned me that there was a possibility that it might break. I took the risk and I'm glad I did. I asked them how much, and she said "don't worry about it!" What amazing service! Props to the opticians, Julian and Courtney! After that, I came back another day to have an eye exam. The doctor (Dr. Lee?..) was very thorough and explained everything so I could understand. I'm happy to learn so much more about my eyes. They have a great selection of frames. I narrowed down my options, but I still had a lot that I liked. Worst experience... I was looking for a VSP provider. They said they were a VSP provider, did the exam and let me choose the eye-glasses. I clearly told them I wanted to see only the frames that were covered by VSP. After leaving the office they sent me an e-mail stating that the frames I selected were not covered by VSP and that they would have to charge full price with discount... Furthermore​, the price they stated for the frames were much higher than the price sticker that were on the frames in their office. The fact is I would not have had the exam there if I knew the frames were not going to be covered by VSP. I was specifically looking for VSP. It is almost as if they could not make enough money with the frames I selected from VSP so they decided not to put it through VSP and upping the retail price on the frames. It is shame and a scam. Do not go to this place. I am also complaining to VSP. They should not be doing business with scammers. read more

I brought previously purchased frames to Lee Optometrics and was only interested in an accurate exam and new prescription. As another reviewer mentioned, the equipment seems to be very out of date, and the prescription I was given is not adequate. They were able to make an adjustment before I ordered a supply of contacts, but because my glasses had already been sent out, they were not able to make the same adjustment there. The prescription I have leaves me with terrible headaches from eye strain after wearing my glasses for only a few hours. This being said, I think the biggest issue with my prescription is that Dr. Lee mis-measured my astigmatism, so if you're only in need of a light prescription, it's possible her office would be a fine choice. However, if you have a more complicated prescription or other eye health issues, Dr. Lee may not be equipped to handle them. (I should also mention that she did not test me for glaucoma (didn't have the machine it seems) in spite of my family history.) read more

Finally my first yelp Review! I absolutely love this place. I am very particular about where I go to get my glasses and Exam's at, and this place met all my expectations. During my exam, I was impressed with the all the equiptment and technology since it all looked very clean and up to date. I wish I remembered my Doctor's name..(it's been a little over a year, but I definitely will come back to this review to let you all know), but I loved her! She was very thorough during the exam, she made sure I that all my questions were answered, and she was really nice and made the exam comfortable because sometimes eye exams can get awkward since the Doctors can be all up in your face. Up to this point in my life i had no idea how the lens of my half-rim glasses were secured onto a screw-less frame. Countless times I have stared endlessly into the construction only to come to the conclusion i'd never have to worry about it. When i had an accident this all changed. Days later I found my self i walking around with a pair of glasses with a detached lens. Is it even repairable? How much would it costs? Where would I get a new pair? I found myself at Lee's explaining my tragic incident and the resulting frames. In my time of need I was treated with the utmost curtesy by their staff. Lee Optometrics has an amazing selection of chic and stylish frames (the largest selection of frames in Palo Alto, according the their website), and the staff were all incredibly helpful and nice. They took time to assist me as I browsed, letting me know about the latest trends, which ones are popular, lighter in weight, etc. I tried on probably two dozen frames because there were so many that I liked. I was very appreciative that this place carries a wide selection of Asian fit options, which sit way better on my nose. They carry the brand I was most interested in (Masunaga), and I ended up asking them to special order the Masunaga 008-23: Brown Half color from Japan. I just picked them up earlier this week and I love them! I'd recommend this place to anyone in the area looking for beautiful eyewear, especially those interested in handmade classics from Japan as well as other exclusive designs from Europe and America. read more

I have visited several times and each time i have found multiple pairs that fit well and made me look good. :) Although larger establishments, I have found other places not to have quite the selection in quantity and quality. Honestly, what an amazing experience. I've been having headaches lately and many people told me I should see an optometrist. I found Lee Optometrists here on Yelp and I purchased their 60 for 150 deal. Not only did I receive a full eye exam, I was explained every part of the procedure and it made it so comfortable. I was treated will great care and I honestly haven't had such high quality service in a long time. The receptionist helped me find the perfect pair of glasses that best fit and suit my face. Throughout my experience, my concerns were reassured and I left extremely proud of myself for choosing this business. I 1000% recommend it here. We just visited her office for annual eye exam - she's really patient, gentle and nice(to both kid and adult). She and her staff were very patient and genuine with our kid in trying out different styles. Her store has wide selection of glasses frames for kids and she gladly order some frame for us to try without commitment - what a pleasant surprise. It's located in a convenient location in downtown Palo Alto, on Hamilton, the shop is small by very cute. Dr. Lee and her staff were also not pushy in selling more expensive frames - when we settled a less expensive pair of glasses, she didn't hard sell us the more expensive frames. We felt very comfortable with the entire process and would highly recommend this place. I believe their price is also very reasonable in comparison to other places we used to go. Her staff was also very friendly and prompt in helping with our insurance info. We highly recommend Lee Optometrics! To sum up this place in one word: Janky. If I get one more word, Cheap. I was not seen by Dr. Lee but by another woman. The equipment to determine my prescription was hand-held rather than a stand-alone device. The issue with this is the doctor couldn't hold the device in a consistent way. I have no idea if the prescription given to me is garbage or not. In any event, it's not useful. They did give me a very cheap exam - less than $70, but I got approximately nothing out of it. She also took a lot of time on my eye exam and was patient when I couldn't figure out which prescription would work for me. I give Lee Optometrics one star because Dr. Lee is nice and a competent optometrist. But I cannot recommend this office based on the experience I just had. It took SIX WEEKS from my initial eye exam to finally receive a copy of my Rx!! I recall making a minimum of four requests for a copy of my eye prescription to be mailed to me. I think they were waiting for me to change my mind and purchase contacts thru them. Are you a doctor's office or a store? In this case, both. Listen, a patient should not be made to feel obligated to buy. Ever. It was not explained it would take several office visits to complete my eye exam. Their follow up and communication is definitely a challenge. It's too bad cause Dr. Lee is a good listener. read more

Seemed like nice people who knew what they were doing so I bought the coupon, made an appointment, and today got a new pair of glasses. The doctor, Pearl, was very careful, thorough, and answered all my dumb questions. Lee Optometrics was one of the best place I've been to for glasses. I come from out of town and I somehow managed to ruined my frames. When I walked in I was asking their staff how much it would cost to repair mine. One of the staff, took a look at my frames and adjusted a few times and she fixed it on the spot. I asked her how much? And she said don't worry about it ! What?! I never heard of that. I'm from New York City. This would've cost me an arm or a leg. A clip on my ic berlin glasses broke. I called them up to see if they might have the part, and they told me to come in. I had never been there before, but this didn't matter. They didn't have the clip in their spare parts bin, but they took one from a pair of display frames that was compatible. I never realized how important it was to choose a top notch optometrist until my children and I started going to Dr. Lee. My past strategy of obtaining prescription glasses and contact lenses was to just drop into the closest or cheapest place. Dr. Lee was the first Dr. to discuss issues like blepharitis and other potential eye problems that I needed to work on now to prevent problems later on. I appreciate the patience and time she always gives to my children and me in discussing our vision health. But this is the best part of Lee Optometrics: Dr. Lee and her staff have exceptional taste in eyeglass frames and has the best high end selection..seriously! She and her staff just tell me what they like and I get them. They have never steered me wrong. My eyeglasses have gotten so many complements over the years.
