The first time around they got the edge polish wrong (after 2 weeks of processing!). They had promised me matte and it came back glossy. I wore the glasses and was like whoa! Why's there's light shimmering all around my eyes? I gave it back to them, and grumpily the person said "ok we'll send it back". Then she informed me oh they don't even offer the matte finish! Then how come I was offered that in the first place? She had no idea. So she sends it back to change the finish to "satin". Well, a few days later they call me and say hey, we have to change the lens altogether, which will be another 2 weeks. Ok so after more than a month, I get my glasses back. They still feel shiny. But anyway, I get back to my life, but I keep feeling there's still some issue. I keep seeing reflections of stuff. And if someone takes pictures of me they see the flash instead of my eyes. What's going on? I finally figure it out - this lens doesn't have anti-reflective coatings. So I take it back to Cambridge. This time they say oh you declined anti-reflective. But the fact is I had shown them my previous glasses - which *do* have anti-reflective - and told them to make it the same way. They had taken a good look at it, and told me it had anti-reflective. Then why do they say I declined? Well who knows!!! Then they call me back again in 2 days and say hey you are out of our 90 day limit, so they won't do anything. They will neither fix the glasses nor refund the money. Later that afternoon I asked to speak to a doctor because a nearby optical store told me that their doctors will fix this issue for me even if the staff won't. Well, they wouldn't have a doctor speak to me. "They're busy". I have worn glasses for about 35 years of my life'. Gone through many frames and lenses. Not once did I have so much trouble with an optometry store. Not one single time. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place. Lots of good optometry stores in this area.

Warning - this optometrist office will insist on soaking you for every possible penny…read more After getting an eye exam here, I later went back to use my VSP insurance on some new glasses and sunglass lenses. While explaining what my insurance benefits covered, they slipped in that their office ONLY allows selecting the highest level of anti-reflective coating, costing an additional $150+ above what my insurance covers. Typically there are 2-3 levels of coatings available. Next, they told me the same thing with the progressive lenses, that they ONLY allow customers to get the most premium level of progressive, which again was hundreds more than the standard progressive lenses covered by my fairly comprehensive insurance. It would be one thing if they had a lab onsite, and those materials were all they stocked, but they don't. They simply place an order with a giant offsite lab that has all manner of coatings and lens types available, and they just refuse to order anything but the most expensive option for their customers. I will stop short of calling this dishonest...but it comes pretty darn close. The lesson to learn here is stay far away from this business unless are the type of person who buys things without caring what they cost, and just signs credit card receipts without ever looking at what is being charged. You need to not care how much your glasses cost you to want to shop here. Also, this was the staff person at the desk who was telling me their policies. I asked to speak with the doctor, and was told they wouldn't be available, even if I wanted to wait and catch them between eye exam appointments. Sketchy place!

She really dialed in my first pair of progressives and helped me find a good option for daily contact lens giving me a generous amount of two different options to test out at home. I did have a pair of progressives from a previous optometry office in Mountain View, but those didn't work and the folks there weren't trying to help me make it better, so I just had those converted to single vision lens. Dr. Lodenquai took her time and made it happen with the help of her staff. The front office staff are friendly and helpful with making appointments and answer questions thoroughly. Lisa walked me through insurance questions I had and provided much needed clarification. Ed made sure everything worked out with my glasses when I needed to get a little more power added for reading. He also took time to help me pick out a great pair and he really made the process a fun experience. These are people who care and who create a pleasant atmosphere for customers. There's something about the final payment that doesn't add up, + a $45 charge for teaching me to apply & take out the contact lens. It's a huge and unnecessary inconvenience to have to schedule an appointment to pick-up glasses - especially when they just hand them to you! This has been pointed out for years now but they've not changed it. All of the glasses are behind locked cases which is a pain when trying things on. They no longer sell non-prescription sunglasses under insurance plans because it's too much hassle for them, but they WILL prescribe glasses so that they can sell those same sunglasses under prescription, even if (as I felt) the prescription isn't super necessary. Overall, the staff aren't super nice or helpful. I was sad to move on but it's not worth being a customer where you feel like you're inconveniencing people.
