I saw Dr. Ryan Smith, and first of all, he sat down and spent time with my husband and me, which…read morewas appreciated. He was approachable, concerned, and professional. He was familiar with dysautonomia (POTs) and the type of care I would need. His staff followed through with the insurance to get the necessary medication approved for me. They also sent the referral I needed and the information required for me to be seen. Being chronically ill with mostly invisible disabilities and the fact that I am young typically make my medical experiences difficult. I will sometimes feel I have to prove I need help. Then, continue to make multiple follow-ups for basic care. That was not the case with Dr. Smith; he understood and started helping me immediately. This was the most seamless process I have experienced related to my complex care. When we left, I looked at my husband and asked if we really just got answers and a treatmentt visit. plan on my first. We were both so happy and grateful. The only thing that could be better is getting the portal information (website and login information) at the first appointment so I can confirm and communicate with the team any challenges with getting meds approved, etc. But that is so minor!! If you are looking for a cardiologist, I recommend Dr. Smith at Maui Cardiology. As a home health RN on Maui, I am so grateful that we have a provider like Dr. Smith here. I hope he never moves off the island!

1 Star because Dr Muto is a nice guy. I had a 2 minute videocall with him and he was quite…read morepersonable. I'll never know if he's a good doctor though because his entire office staff team are entirely unaccommodating in making appointments for anyone with special needs or guaranteeing an appointment time for anyone with special needs - which we are. They do not text or email. They do not have an online appointment system and they do not have any email or any way to notify them of anything if you are hard of hearing or otherwise cannot use an audio phonecall. They sent me finally a message link through an app., and when I replied to that with the appointment times that would work for us, I never got any reply from them or confirmation that they even received my message. And I tried to log back in a couple days later to check again if they received my message trying to set my appointment time and the whole message link had expired and said "conversation expired."so there was no way for me to login. I also have an extremely tight schedule as someone who is the primary care provider for someone who does not walk or talk and has to be back at the home every day by 11:30 to sleep. We finally reached them by phone once which was the team effort because phone calls are not easy for our family, and we had a set appointment at 10 AM and they could not guarantee me that we would actually be seen at 10 or anytime in the morning and may have to wait several hours even though 10 is our appointment time and we have to leave by 11. I explained the entire situation and said that I absolutely have to leave the office no later than 11 and they could not guarantee that I would be seen before then. It's amazing that in six months they could not set up any kind of system to text or email for someone who cannot get on the phone easily. The Dmv was more accommodating and gave us a disability placard which I was prescribed from my PCP (which is not easy to get), hopefully they would've had a disabled parking spot for us at the clinic. I like to comment on those things for others who need it - but since they never managed to set up an appointment for us in which we would be seen at a specific time, I'll never know that so I cannot comment on that for sure. On that note, I can say definitely if you are hard of hearing or deaf or otherwise disabled or with special needs, and need a texting or email service to set up your appointments like we do, this is not the office for you. That will mess around for seven months and not accommodate your needs while your heart issues continue unexamined and untreated. I'm sure they'll never read and respond to this review right? Since they can't even text me or email me or manage their own messaging portal? Let's see. Maybe Yelp is the secret.
