Their sort of pathetic attempt at making a messaging accommodation

1 Star because Dr Muto is a nice guy. I had a 2 minute videocall with him and he was quite personable. I'll never know if he's a good doctor though because his entire office staff team are entirely unaccommodating in making appointments for anyone with special needs or guaranteeing an appointment time for anyone with special needs - which we are. They do not text or email. They do not have an online appointment system and they do not have any email or any way to notify them of anything if you are hard of hearing or otherwise cannot use an audio phonecall. They sent me finally a message link through an app., and when I replied to that with the appointment times that would work for us, I never got any reply from them or confirmation that they even received my message. And I tried to log back in a couple days later to check again if they received my message trying to set my appointment time and the whole message link had expired and said "conversation expired."so there was no way for me to login. I also have an extremely tight schedule as someone who is the primary care provider for someone who does not walk or talk and has to be back at the home every day by 11:30 to sleep. We finally reached them by phone once which was the team effort because phone calls are not easy for our family, and we had a set appointment at 10 AM and they could not guarantee me that we would actually be seen at 10 or anytime in the morning and may have to wait several hours even though 10 is our appointment time and we have to leave by 11. I explained the entire situation and said that I absolutely have to leave the office no later than 11 and they could not guarantee that I would be seen before then. It's amazing that in six months they could not set up any kind of system to text or email for someone who cannot get on the phone easily. The Dmv was more accommodating and gave us a disability placard which I was prescribed from my PCP (which is not easy to get), hopefully they would've had a disabled parking spot for us at the clinic. I like to comment on those things for others who need it - but since they never managed to set up an appointment for us in which we would be seen at a specific time, I'll never know that so I cannot comment on that for sure. On that note, I can say definitely if you are hard of hearing or deaf or otherwise disabled or with special needs, and need a texting or email service to set up your appointments like we do, this is not the office for you. That will mess around for seven months and not accommodate your needs while your heart issues continue unexamined and untreated. I'm sure they'll never read and respond to this review right? Since they can't even text me or email me or manage their own messaging portal? Let's see. Maybe Yelp is the secret.

At first I was skeptical of this group due to a lack of explanation of a scary procedure before…read moregoing into it, but after I expressed my concerns my panicked questions were met with kindness and I received a comprehensive explanations from all angles. Dr Boors made charts and had no issue sitting with me and trying to talk my anxiety away with facts despite him being very busy. Danielle made sure I had the necessary records read. Dr Wilkinson's nurse Jennifer was an absolute angel. After talking to her I went into the procedure comfortably and with confidence. Dr Lana Wilkerson came in after Jennifer was done calming my anxiety and preformed the breast biopsy with absolutely no pain and continued with more explanations. Jacqueline couldn't hurt the biggest baby with her mammogram skills. I am that great big baby I speak of with an extreme fear of doctors so for me to say what I'm saying means this group goes above and beyond their required jobs. I'm very pleased and feel lucky to have this group involved in my healthcare. Thank you!!!

My experience at Maui Medical in Wailuku was very stressful and disappointing…read more I arrived for my scheduled appointment already feeling sick. All I wanted to do was check in, see my doctor, and get on with my day. Instead, I was told I had to speak with the billing department first about a previous bill and was told the bill would be sent to collections. When you make a medical appointment, you expect to check in and receive care, not be put under pressure to make a financial decision before you can move forward. I also have work responsibilities, and I do not have extra time to deal with unexpected billing issues when I arrive for a scheduled appointment. This experience made me feel as though I was being put in a trap. When you are already sick, being confronted with billing pressure can create anxiety, frustration, and even fear about going back to the doctor. It makes an already difficult situation even harder. I understand that bills need to be addressed, but patients deserve respectful communication, compassion, and a clear explanation of their options. Billing concerns should be handled professionally without making patients feel intimidated or discouraged from seeking medical care. I hope management takes this feedback seriously and improves how billing issues are handled. Patients should be able to arrive for an appointment and focus on their health without worrying about an upsetting confrontation before they even see their doctor.

Checked in at the ER lobby. Was called in within 1 minute. Triage nurse took some info and was placed in a bed 5 minutes later. Testing, doctor visit, diagnosis and treatment provided. Discharged and was on the road less than 2 hours later. For unfortunate reasons, i definitely feel this is a well oiled machine and super friendly caring staff. Only "complaint" i have was I wish they would give a guy a warning before they tickle the backside of your brain doing a Covid test.

Mainly due to the wonderful wand expert Heather, who mapped my heart and made sure I knew what was happening every step of the way, what to expect, and put me at ease with her friendly personality. She even laughed at my jokes and told me a few of her own. In fact I was so at ease I almost fell asleep during the test! Mahalo also to the nurse who managed to put in the IV for the bubble. It's not easy to get a vein on me and she did a great job. Wish they had a vein finder in this hospital, it would make life easier for those of us who have vein problems. Everyone was welcoming, from the entrance to the exit, professional and caring, friendly and empathetic. Easy free parking. We are lucky to have such great facilities on Maui, and such dedicated health professionals :)
