She gave me her cell and she told me, "only call me once or else I won't answer/respond " she never returned my call! Even after several visits to the office, still NOTHING! They are the absolute WORST!! On Tuesday I took my mom (87 yr old, and very frail) to this office for a physician referral to get Rehab services for her at Hale Makua, this form needs to be FAXED over to HM by Drs office. Thursday morning, I call Hale Makua to check on status of the Drs FAX and guess what??? NO FAX HAS BEEN SENT! The lady at Hale Makua shifted through quite a few papers, so that just put my mom farther down the list!! What takes so long to fax 1 piece of paper??? I'm sure it got lost with the her referral for GI which was supposed to be done in May! The Dr told us that she had a patient waiting since Dec for Hale Makua, I'm wondering if she even sent it back in December for that patient?!!!

Dear Dr. Tetor, I am…read morewriting to express my sincere appreciation for the exceptional care you have provided. You are the best physician I have ever had, and I am grateful to have found such a caring, intelligent, and tenacious doctor here on Maui rather than having to fly to the mainland for medical care. I am especially impressed by your persistence regarding the pain and burning in my arm, shoulder, and hands. While the ER originally diagnosed me with bursitis, your dedication led to the identification of shingles and, subsequently, bulging discs and other issues via the CT scan you ordered for my neck. I am now moving forward to see a specialist thanks to your thoroughness. Thank you for your dedication to your patients. Sincerely, B Caprita

He was familiar with dysautonomia (POTs) and the type of care I would need. His staff followed through with the insurance to get the necessary medication approved for me. They also sent the referral I needed and the information required for me to be seen. Being chronically ill with mostly invisible disabilities and the fact that I am young typically make my medical experiences difficult. I will sometimes feel I have to prove I need help. Then, continue to make multiple follow-ups for basic care. That was not the case with Dr. Smith; he understood and started helping me immediately. This was the most seamless process I have experienced related to my complex care. When we left, I looked at my husband and asked if we really just got answers and a treatmentt visit. plan on my first. We were both so happy and grateful. The only thing that could be better is getting the portal information (website and login information) at the first appointment so I can confirm and communicate with the team any challenges with getting meds approved, etc. But that is so minor!! If you are looking for a cardiologist, I recommend Dr. Smith at Maui Cardiology. As a home health RN on Maui, I am so grateful that we have a provider like Dr. Smith here. First off, THANK YOU Dr. Altaha for keeping me alive all these years. You are the ONLY Dr. on Maui who treats me like a person and not a number or "patient". You always remember who I am and my medical history. (And even if not, he does a good job reading up on the chart prior to walking in and faking it. Lol. Which is still huge!)
