I've been going to Ledo's Pizza since the 1960s, back when the original shop near the University of Maryland was the only place to get it. That first bite -- that unforgettable sauce, that perfect crust -- hooked me for life. Over the past fifty years in Fairfax, I've followed Ledo's wherever a new one opened. When the Reston location arrived, I was over the moon. I was one of their first customers, and it felt like welcoming an old friend into the neighborhood. So when I found a Ledo's in Prince Frederick, MD, perched up on a hill off Route 4, I felt that same spark of excitement. I was visiting relatives, we wanted pizza, and suddenly -- there it was. I couldn't believe my luck. I ordered two pizzas: a large cheese for myself, and another with green peppers and pineapple for everyone else. (Yes, pineapple and green peppers really do work together.) But the joy didn't last. It started with something small -- paying. I used a credit card and was told to hit one of the white buttons. Next thing I knew, the screen was asking for a tip for carryout. A tip... for carryout. It felt wrong. I'm a generous tipper when someone serves me -- 25% is normal for me -- but this felt like being pressured into something that didn't make sense. I backed out of the transaction, already feeling a little deflated. Still, I couldn't wait to get back to my relatives' house. The pizzas looked beautiful -- loaded with toppings, cooked perfectly. My mouth was watering. This was supposed to be one of those comforting, nostalgic Ledo's moments. And then it wasn't. The crust was spot‑on, but the sauce -- the heart and soul of Ledo's -- was completely wrong. It didn't taste like the Ledo's I've known for decades. Not even close. It tasted like plain puréed tomatoes, flat and empty, missing that signature flavor that has defined Ledo's for nearly 70 years. I tried to push through it, but after two slices I felt sick to my stomach. It was heartbreaking. How does a franchise lose the very thing that makes it special? I won't be going back to the Prince Frederick location. I'll stick with Reston, where the pizza still tastes like the Ledo's I fell in love with all those years ago. And for anyone who's only ever been to the Prince Frederick Ledo's -- please, try another location. You deserve to experience the real taste of an American classic. read more

I recently went to the Ledo's in Prince Frederick...I ordered in person because I had a specific sub in mind that would require a combination of two subs and I paid extra to have green peppers, onions and two kinds of cheese as well as lettuce and tomatoes...when I arrived at work and discovered that several things had not been put on the sub...I called and was told they would comp me a replacement sub for free next time I came in. That's not what happened I had a ten minute argument/discussion with a manager who claimed to not ever had heard of me, nor saw my name at the counter where the clerk said she would put it. getting nowhere with this man, I drove to the store and the clerk who I had spoken with was there...she said she had put my name in the book and that same manager had crossed it off saying she was unauthorized to offer a free replacement sub, so he lied about not seeing my name...the managers wife came out and called me a liar and refused to give me the sub saying she fixed that sub herself (because everyone remembers every sandwich they make from two weeks prior)...smh....I was ordered to leave and they threatened me with calling the police! I have since spoken with the CEO of Ledo's who called me after I left a message with corporate...he was very nice and sent me a $25 gift card to make up for the shear lack of customer service! Well I received an email about $6 calzones so my wife and I headed down for dinner. We ordered our drinks and then I told the server that I wanted a calzone but I can't have the green peppers that come in it, she told me I had to get it or I'd have to get a special order one. I asked for the manager, she came over and asked if there was a problem. I said I can't eat green peppers I wanted to omit them from my calzone she told me that she couldn't do that I had to order it and have it the way it comes that they don't have a button to remove green peppers that if she removed them it would charge me the full price. I said well ring it up and just tell the person making the calzone to not put green peppers in it, she told me that the computer won't be able to tell the person to do that. I was dumbfounded that she could t use common sense and tell the person making the calzone not to put in green peppers. WONDERFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! Great way to keep customers. Went to dinner with family last night, not realizing there was an employee there that has previously harassed me (Completely unrelated to her working at Ledo Pizza.) Me nor my family had no idea she worked there, and she wasn't our server. So all was fine. Our actual server gave us good service up until she asked the girl who has verbally harassed me previously to come to our table and in which Gabi was saying no. (We were sitting at the booth right in front of the counter so we could hear their conversation), and our server made her come check on us because "it would be funny." It in fact wasn't funny. Gabi came over sarcastically and asked us if we needed anything, and I replied with a polite no and she walked away. After that we never saw our server we originally had again. My sister had asked for an order of fries, that never came out, we had to get those removed off the check which we had to walk up to the counter for because no one would now conveniently help us. Manager Timothy gave us our check, removed the french fries, we paid, and were walking out to leave. Gabi was standing behind the counter and sarcastically told us goodbye, my sister then replied with bye, and Gabi made a smart remark with a smirk across her face, "I'll miss my fans" laughing and giggling. My father turned around at that point and asked for the manager "Tim" and she still thought it was funny. Manager Tim couldn't do anything about it because "that's above his pay grade." Gabi then made a remark in front of me and my parents "I'll apologize to Ledo's but not to them." This might not seem to be a big deal to anyone else but I am highly disappointed in this establishment as I worked there for four years when I was in high school. We would have never been able to get away with such disrespectful, childish behavior that Gabi showed last night. I don't care if you don't like someone but when you're working and you serve the community, you should NEVER act like that and should be held accountable. My mother called Lonnie (the owner) and he still hasn't responded. I'm highly disappointed and I don't know if I'll ever return. The Staff was blatantly disrespectful and something needs to be done. Ordered a large pizza with half meatball and half cheese via online. Got there and the pizza was in the cubby for pick up which was different usually they have it in the back. Anyway, the sandwich was mostly okay even if it was the worst copy of a Cubano that I've had in ever. Too much mustard and not enough meat. When you pay almost $30 for a medium pizza, you kind of expect them to make it right! Ordered a medium deluxe with pre-cooked bacon, well done and what a mess! a blob of bacon thrown in one corner, sauce was practically non-existent and it was under cooked. I don't know who made it, but it was BAD! I asked about it when it was shown to me and the two girls behind the counter just stood there, like deer in headlights. Turned update my last review from 2 stars down to one. Just left from having lunch there with a buddy of mine. The euro had 2 chips and lettuce 2 slices of tomato after asking for extra tomato and it looked like a butter knife swipe of taziki which left the whole thing dry. And the presenting this for lunch it looked like crap. The meatball sub eye ordered was so sloppy and the cut on the roll was so wrong that it had fallen open on the underside. Waitresses excuse for that was that it is a wet sub and can get sloppy. If you know that then serve a knife and fork with it. That hardly any price served with both lunches. Still has great pizza! But last night we went and had horrible service. The waitress didn't refill our drinks, kept putting hot plates in front of the baby and had a bad attitude. Needless to say we were less than pleased. A table came in when we were halfway done and had 20 people. They wanted our table so they hovered very close and talked loudly. The waitress even brought us our check before anyone was done eating! I have an 11 month old to feed. He is not fast. I kept seeing people roll their eyes at us and talk about how slow we were. While I love ledos, I doubt I will go back to this location. read more

My rating system for restaurants is pretty simple. Three stars if I could go back, four stars if I'd like to be a regular, and five stars if I would go out of my way to get there. I've been to several different Ledo Pizza Places and I prefer the one in Solomon's because it's usually less crowded. We most recently visited on a Saturday night about 6 p.m.. the place was pretty crowded and you had to pick a seat on your own. I was a little worried because the server in our section seem to be overworked, but she did a pretty good job of quickly filling our drink order and taking our food order. Our pizza didn't take long to arrive and I thought it was pretty good. My wife thinks the crust is little bit soggy and it is in comparison to say, Three Brothers Pizza. But overall a pretty good experience prices were reasonable and I think I'll go back. read more

Service was OK, I had a meatball sandwich, and the sauce was so sweet that I couldn't even eat the whole thing. We stopped by on April 27th around 5:30 pm. I would like to complement our hostess Christina. She was efficient, knowledgeable about the menu and friendly. Very poor time management. We called in at 5pm two calzones and fries and was told to pickup at 6:30. Stood outside in line for 20 minutes and the order wasn't ready (one calzone wasn't through cooking so I was told to wait outside again for 5 minutes. It wasn't. Twenty minutes after that my wife called and they told her, waiting in calzone 5 more minutes. I went to the young blonde woman manager who told me they were waiting on one calzone and that it would be 5 minutes. At 7:20pm we finally got one stale calzone and smothered fries we didn't trust after pestering them three times so no, I don't recommend them during the crisis. They are so overwhelmed the managers don't even know their kitchen times. You MUST KNOW your KITCHEN TIMES or you are an ineffective manager. Tell me it's going to be 7:20 and that's when I'll show up. We used to love this place. They are at their Peter Principle right now; try them after everything's over. read more
