I wanted Lechon (whole pig) for my birthday party celebration. After talking to several friends, they recommended this place because they had also ordered from here in the past and they enjoyed it. I called and placed my order on Tuesday for pick up on Saturday at 11:30 am. I ordered a medium whole pig, a tray of 100 lumpias and a tray of pancit bihon. When taking my order, they were very patient, letting me know the prices and giving me estimates on how many people each of the whole pig sizes could feed. They gave me the total and if I paid using a credit card over the phone there would be a surcharge. They also told me that if I paid by Zelle, there would be no surcharge. I opted to pay by Zelle. They gave me the information and paid right away. Confirmation was sent quickly of payment received and also that the order was officially placed. Saturday morning, I get there exactly at 11:30 am. The pig and the trays were ready to go. They gave me a paper receipt of the paid invoice. Someone got a cart and placed the pig and the trays on there and wheeled it out to my cart. My cousin came with me to pick up the food and he helped the worker place everything in the car. The pig comes in a thick cardboard box. Since this was my first time getting the whole pig, I didn't know if there was going to be spillage of juices, or grease so I had prepared in placing black garbage bags in the trunk of my car before pick up, but they were not needed. Low key...not going to lie but little disappointed that there was no apple in its mouth lol. Even after hours of the lechón sitting at the party, it did not release any juices. The lechon was perfection. Crispy on the outside and tender in the inside. It was a hit! Many of the invited guests had not had lechon and they were super excited to try it. They commented on how the lechon was "lean" (as lean as it could be considering after all that it was). Others could not believe that it was pig because it was not greasy. We also decided to make it more "Mexican" and have warm tortillas, guacamole, salsas, rice, beans....make your own tacos if you will. It has been days since the party and my guests are still talking about it. The lumpias were crispy and stayed that way throughout the day and the pancit was delicious. The tray did not skimp out, lots of veggies and noodles, packed and heavy. The lechon was well worth it....it was the pig that kept on giving. None of the pig went to waste. Everyone left satisfied. We made several ziplock gallon bags of the lechon shredded and we used it to make tortas and lonche sandwiches the days after. Also a hit! I know in the near future, we will be ordering from here again for our celebrations. read more

I don't really understand the hype about this place. This is an overdue review and I have lost the pictures. This is my go-to restaurant for Filipino dishes. Tasty and not oily. I specially love their lechon kawali, which to my surprised was...maybe fried lechon (??). This is the best place for Lechon around Union City, Hayward, San Leandro. Just have to order 3 weeks in advance cause they have a lot of orders ( you don't have to pay for the Lechon right away, just have to place your order in advance). And the servers are polite. The Lechon is big, there is a lot of meat and the price is reasonable. Call them before you go cause they close before 5pm at times, I think. Will always order Lechon from them. I ended up ordering the 2 entree combo which was less than 13 dollars and I couldn't be believe it! Talk about a bargain! The roast pork was extremely crispy on the outside while remaining juicy on the inside. The rice had a good flavor and tasted fresh. The sleeper item in the whole meal for me was the brown sauce. I am very familiar with Filipino cuisine so I am not quite sure what was in it but it was delicious! It elevated the pork and provided a nice balance to all of the other flavors! I love coming to lechon manila simply for one of their offerings: roast lechon. Growing up eating roast lechon at parties, I always hit a bit of a craving for the crispy skin that kawali just doesn't hit the spot for--and lechon manila is one of the only spots I know of that will sell roast lechon by the pound. For just 2 people, buying a whole roast pig just isn't a financially sound investment, so coming here is a great choice. Lechon Manila is located directly next to SK donut in the Alvarado Place strip mall. (I always find myself ordering a dozen cronut holes as a reward for making the trip out here). Its very easy to find parking, since the shared parking lot is huge and usually not packed. Upon entering, you'll find a pretty traditional cafeteria-style restaurant, as most surrounding Filipino restaurants are organized. Lines vary by time of day, usually around 10-11AM the line will be out the door, later in the day -- when most of the dishes are beginning to run low the lines are shorter. You'll want to come early if you want really crispy and juicy roast lechon. Be sure to eat it quickly, because lechon does tend to get a bit hard and chewy if it gets cold/steams up. Roast Lechon: This is my favorite dish here, and one of the sole reasons I come to the restaurant. Most of the time, when I order 3-4LB trays of lechon I'd say 85% of the skin is crispy like a potato chip, and the rest is really crunchy, like chicharon. If you come later in the day, you may get a bit of the harder crunchy skin -- just be sure to come early! Sisig: This is one of those dishes that thrives really great at lechon restaurants. I love sisig when its super crispy and packed with tangy/spicy flavors. Definitely a dish you won't want to miss from here. read more

My family and I come here for one reason and one reason only! LECHON! For the last 2 years, my family orders our special event lechon here and they never disappoint. Despite it being a 45 min drive from where we live, the skin is still so crispy and the taste is always consistent. It's so good that every time we host a party and have lechon, EVERYBODY wants "baon" to go lol. It's that good. The owners are also very helpful and accommodating. 01/13/23 Full disclosure. Gilbert, who I believe is the restaurant manager, invited me back for a redo. This time, I got the lechon kawali with rice and 2 turon (again), and it was delicious. Perfectly cooked lechon kawali, not dry, not greasy and very crispy skin. Plus, they are really generous with their yummy lechon sauce! I'd put that sh*t on everything. LOL The staff was friendly, accommodating, and extremely apologetic about the turon from my last visit. Which leads me to said turon. It looked even better this time than the last time, and tasted so good. Perfect amount of sweetness. I would return here if only for the turon, although, I am now curious to try their other offerings. I used to order my roasted pig from this place all the time when I threw my children's birthday parties years ago. Recently went to a graduation celebration that was catered by Lechon Manila. They had the engrande package. A large lechon (Filipino style roasted pig), pancit (noodle dish), chop suey (stir fried vegetables), chicken afritada, pork binagoongan, and beef Kare-Kare. Food was good. I'm very picky when it comes to the Filipino dish, Kare-Kare. It wasn't the greatest, but fulfilled my need of a Kare-Kare fix. And it also had tripe in it as it should. I tried the pancit and it was okay. Their binagoongan was spicy good. I didn't try the other entrees. But I sure did try the lechon. And it was really good. The skin had a nice crispy crunch to it and the meat was so very juicy and tender. Recommended it to my friends in the 925 whenever they ask me about where to order lechon from. Plenty of parking around the restaurant and the visibility of the sign is great for spotting it from a distance with it's bright yellow coloring to differentiate from the neighboring restaurants. Upon walking in, the ambiance is underwhelming; nothing really stood out here and gave the impression of a no-nonsense eatery where the food is the prize. There were plenty of tables and chairs which were full sized and comfortable to sit in. The ordering process can be cafeteria-style-like where there are multiple dishes of quality cuisines displayed behind a glare-prone glass. I will have to come back to try more dishes here to give this establishment a fair assessment but for now the rating is based off of the food, service and ambiance I experienced today. I did not know what to call the dishes before me as there were no name tags, so I proceeded to order their "Lechon Over Rice" which seemed to be what the restaurant is pushing to be what they should be known for. The lady in the front was very kind and welcoming to receive my order. The wait was minimal. The Lechon did not melt in my mouth and was fairly average where taste is considered. The skin pieces were very firm and crispy. I was disappointed the rice was not garlic rice as I have had this combination before from a food truck which even added an egg on top of the rice. The sauce was a very mild and sweet compliment to the dish and was absolutely necessary to enjoy this dish. Overall satisfied but not super impressed. Would I comer here to try their other options? LECHON LUNCH Several months ago I ordered two items to be delivered for lunch: Combo Plate 3 (lechon and rice) and Lechon Kawali. You might think that was redundant of ordering two dishes of lechon. However they're cooked differently as the lechon of the combo plate was a portion of the whole, roasted pig whereas the lechon kawali is usually deep-fried pork belly. So I wanted to try what lechon was tastier from Lechon Manila. The lechon kawali at Lechon Manila had that 3 layers of texture: crispy skin, fat, and meat. Due to the fat the meat on the lechon kawali was moist. The lechon on the combo plate at Lechon Manila had that crispy skin and lean meat. However that lean meat was dry. Having the lechon on the combo plate revealed how whole pig is cooked at Lechon Manila. Cooking a whole animal exhibits different textures. However the meat of the lechon should be moist as the fat bastes the meat. If I was craving for lechon at Lechon Manila I would recommend the lechon kawali versus the lechon of the combo plate. read more

First, I'm Polynesian and we roast pigs. However, I wanted to get something different b/c I didn't want to go through the hassle of cooking. This is my first time ordering a Lechon pig ever and I chose this restaurant Lechon Manila because I found it on YELP and they had the best reviews. I ordered the pig on a Tuesday and picked it up on Friday. It was for my birthday celebration. First off the customer service was excellent. They told me it will be ready at 5pm and it was ready and it came right out of the oven. I am so lucky, even the piggy was bigger than I thought. They have 3 sizes and I picked the middle one. They put the pig in a clean brown box that cradled the pig and carried it to my car. I had a smile so big on my face because I knew my family will love it. The aroma of the pig will fill your car up and make you want to take a snippet before your reach your destination. When I brought it to the party, everyone was like where did I get the pig? I told them about Lechon Manila. We had to wait for some people to arrive at the party. So the pig had to wait in the car for a while(1hour). When we put it on the table, it was still HOT!!! When we cut it open through the skin, you can see the steam rise. Everyone in the room you can hear, AWWWW, it was amazing. The SKIN of the pig was so CRISP, the meat was so tender and melted in your mouth.... I cannot be so happier for my guests. Okay, we also had leftovers the next day. It was still tasty and delicious. It tasted really good... We made tacos with it. The PIG was the STAR of the buffet, we had seafood for the side dishes. We purposely didn't add any other meat platter because we wanted the pig to be the IT FACTOR and STAR!! LOL! We had so many compliments about the preparation and the cleanliness of the pig. I even shared the contact information with my guests and they said they will order from you guys.
