Lumpia vegetables
Brandy L.

Located in a strip mall with plenty of parking . Place wasn't busy but took about 10 mins to get seated . Service was very slow but food came out fast . Orders the fried chicken which was ok. Tasted like jolly bees but more expensive. The vegetable lumpia's were good. New to the menu. First time back since they remodeled. I like the open space concept . Between the slow service and mediocre food don't think I will be back.

Having eaten Filipino food my whole life, I'd say Gerry's is quality and authentic. On the pricier side but portions are generous! That goes for its modern atmosphere too with live music and good sized bar with Red Horse on tap, San Miguel beer towers, and happy hour! Can't wait to take my parents. Lol

2 hours wait for fried tofu

Jerry's had me questioning if they were growing the rice from scratch in the back. Two hours for appetizer + main dish is insane. At some point it stops being "busy" and starts being a hostage situation. Side note: good luck to everyone still waiting for food while the garage band is playing so loud you can't even hear your waiter or your own partner say a peep

Crispy Pata
Rheza B.

Came by on a rainy Sunday around 2 PM, and the place was fairly empty--which was actually quite nice. The restaurant is spacious and well-suited for family gatherings or parties. On top of that, the food was solid overall. I ordered the Crispy Pata and the Sizzling Bangus Sisig. The Bangus Sisig wasn't quite to my liking; I've heard the Pork Sisig is much better, so I'm looking forward to trying that next time. The Crispy Pata, on the other hand, was excellent--super crispy, with meat that was tender and not dry at all. Parking was also very convenient in the plaza. Overall, a great experience, and I would definitely come back.

Always brings you back to Manila. Bbque is the best. Sizzling bangus, poke with inihaw na baboy & sinigang all yummy. Cravings fulfilled!

Standard garlic rice for $3.50 per bowl (3 bowls)

I give this place a solid 3.5*, food is good, service is weird. And the ambience is nice for a more formal dining experience. On our trip here we got the sizzling pork sisig and the bangus (milk fish) sizzling sisig. The obvious choice was going to be the bangus, very flavorful. We also picked up some garlic rice. Unfortunately, my gripe with this place isn't the food itself but more of the portion size for what you get. I felt like we got 80% of what their picture on the menu is for the food. Both dishes came out way smaller than what I thought for $22 each? Huh? I will say that this place is a chain, but there's much better options in my opinion for food especially in this range. Also their crispy pata is $32+? Huh? That's super expensive for pata The restaurant was completely empty minus 2 other families and they put us all next to each other in the back of restaurant which is a little weird. Servers weren't really around to grab or request for more water either. Food: 4/5 Service: 2/5 Value: 2.5/5

December 2025 band lineup. Awesome food and drinks. Great ambiance. Great service. Will be there!

Service was very nice and fairly quick. Looks like they play live music most nights which is nice! The crispy pata (3.5/5) is good but could be crispier and more flavorful imo. Maybe next time I'd try the lechon kawali and see how that compares. The pork bbq (3/5) was not good--it doesn't have much sauce and is not very sweet.

Been here twice with my family to celebrate special occasions such as Mother's Day (which was the most recent visit). If you're someone who's not been to the Philippines or tried authentic home cook Filipino dishes, this can be consider a good place to visit. One of the dishes my family always gets in a Filipino Restaurant is the Crispy Pata. Idk why but when I tried this, it has a little bit of a sweet flavor which might be from juice of the atchara. This disappoints me as I'm looking for its usual meaty taste. I'll give it maybe (3.5/5) Their grilled baby squid tastes like the pork barbecue (maybe because they use the same sauce???) The pork barbecue is a must when you visit as it reminded me a bit of how the pork barbecue usually tastes like back in the Philippines. I'll give it (4.5/5). However, I was a little disappointed with the baby squid as I'm looking for more smoky flavor which is something usual when you eat something grilled. I'm still going to give it (4/5) as I like to eat squids and the barbecue sauce is still taste good. Service was okay for a busy Sunday. I was a little confused with our server because I'm not quite sure if she's asking us if we're doing okay or telling us we're okay. My family were considering on ordering dessert but our server just told us that the kitchen is closed while the other server of the table behind us asked if they want any dessert as the kitchen will be closing soon. So did the server decided that we don't need to order dessert anymore. Overall, it's a good place to visit for a Filipino Restaurant especially if you're in the Bay especially if you're in Union City area.

Norm L.

This is a good Filipino food place in Union City. Service was prompt and server was friendly. The food was all good but the dessert even better. Wash that all of that with a tower of beer.

I haven't been here for years! It's been maybe, 20?! I suggested going here before our J-Hope concert in Oakland. I remember their adobe shreds was so yummy so I told concert crew, let's go! Located at Union Landing with plenty of parking around the vicinity. When we walked in, it definitely looked different. I asked the hostess if they remodeled and she said yes. It's much bigger, with open floor plan and a bar in the center. I asked if they still had entertainment and they do. Karaoke is a huge hit. We ordered dishes family style with room for desserts! I was happy to visit this place again and we were stuffed!

Nilagang Bulalo (beef soup)
Regina L.

I haven't been to Gerry's Grill in a long time, so I must say it has gotten even BETTER with how much their food is packed with flavor! First, let's start with our excellent server who is Vietnamese and knows the menu very well and impressed us with the Tagalog words she knows! To start, she recommended the calamari, extra crispy, and she wasn't kidding! The batter was perfect, not greasy, and went well with the sweet and salty creamy dipping sauce. We also ordered our fav beef kare-kare, bulalo soup, and pinakbet, all of which we have enjoyed many times in the past. Their bulalo isn't fatty, which we appreciate, and it's packed with beef and veggies like cabbage and green beans. Their bulalo is food for the soul! My family ordered chicken ba-mi (pancit Bisaya) and after my first forkful, OMG, the noodles and mix of flavors made my palate so happy that I paused and soaked in all of the flavors, before exclaiming, "WOW! This is now my favorite pancit!" I had bangus ala pobre for the first time and this fish was filled with such strong flavors, that capture the uniqueness of Filipino cooking and each bite was flaky. The aroma and beauty of this dish brought me back to similar bangus cooking from my grandmother and mother and my palate and belly were so happy with my mother ordering this dish for me to try, so I could experience the Gerry's Grill version. I highly recommend this bangus ala pobre! As a final act for this savory feast, we had room left our bellies to share halo-halo. Their halo-halo is made with soft, snowy ice, topped with creamy ube ice cream and leche flan. The snowy ice made it especially enjoyable and fun to eat! The halo-halo was the cherry on top for my family and me for this excellent Filipino feast at Gerry's Grill! The manager checked in on us and our server took care of us as well. With the top notch service and food, and family- friendly ambiance, I give my high praises for Gerry's Grill!

Sisig
Lynnette V.

This is my other go-to restaurant when I head up north. - just because Filipino food is a must for me. We always visit as a group and have tried several of their entrées. FOOD: 4/5 Kare-Kare, Sisig, Sinigang na Beef, Pork Barbecue, Pansit Bihon, Grilled Pusit, Pinakbet, Sinigang Bangus, Halo-Halo, etc Their food is comparable to other Filipino restaurants I've tried. While some dishes could be improved, others are pretty good. Over time, I've noticed that prices have gone up, and the portion sizes have become smaller as well. SERVICE: 2/5 We often go during busy hours, so we encounter longer wait times. A few times, we've shown up between 5:30 and 7:00 PM, and it usually takes about 15 minutes to be seated. The servers are prompt with taking orders, but it can be a little difficult to catch their attention if you need anything additional due to how busy they are. It might be helpful to have a little more staff on hand during these peak hours. AMBIANCE: The ambiance is lively and could be quite noisy due to the band. You'll likely find it enjoyable if you enjoy dining with live music in the background. But, if you prefer a quieter atmosphere for family meals, it's advisable to visit during times when there isn't one playing.

Passed by Skillet'z in Niles and randomly stopped in for brunch--so glad I did!…read moreEverything we ordered was actually really good and hit the spot. The Bravo omelet was super soft and fluffy, loaded with mushrooms, tomatoes, avocado, and bacon--really fresh and not heavy at all. The New York steak sandwich was super satisfying, with big chunky pieces of steak and avocado that made it extra good. And the coulotte steak was cooked perfectly--tender, flavorful, and just really well done overall. Definitely a great little brunch spot if you're in the area.

We were looking for a family friendly brunch experience before hitting up the Niles Farmer's Market…read moreand found Skillet'z Cafe just around the corner. Luckily there was no line at 8:30 in the morning on a Saturday. Rating Breakdown: 1/2 Stars for Taste -- The menu is HUGE and it was difficult to pick just one thing to order. I ended up choosing the Tio Pancho because I can never resist biscuits and gravy. The scramble itself was good, I'm a big fan of their chorizo as it's not overpoweringly sour/tangy like some other places. It was also mild enough that my kids were able to try a little. I opted for the hash browns which added a nice crispiness into the mix. I would actually skip the biscuits and gravy next time -- the biscuits are on the cake-y side and the gravy is a bit bland. My husband ordered the Mexican chicken fried steak. The steak itself was also bland, but it was fine paired with the chorizo and sauce on top. Their hashbrowns are crispy on the outside but made thick with a more mushy inside, not our favorite. My husband's sunny side eggs were also a bit underdone, the egg whites were still runny. We were both fans of the salsa that came on the side. For the kiddos, we got one pancake. We're glad we only got one because it was literally the same size as the dinner plate it came on. It was super fluffy and thiccccc, just how I love it. It was also not too sweet by itself so I felt less bad about giving it to the kiddos. I would say the dishes are served "rustic", it's not the most instagrammable if that matters to you, but it is a mountain of food and a veritable feast. 1/1 Stars for Value -- It's about $20 per entree and the serving sizes are humongous. Definitely enough to share or take home as leftovers. Coffee was $4 but it was actually good coffee, not the watery stuff diners sometimes serve. It only cost $3.95 to upgrade the side of toast to a pancake, which is a steal...I mean, why wouldn't you do it? 1/1 Stars for Customer Service -- The food came out unbelievably quickly. We literally said "That can't be it" when we saw them bringing it over. This place is optimized for efficiency -- everything from seating, serving, coffee refills, to bringing the bill was streamlined yet not rushed. Bonus star because we would come back when we are craving brunch. We would come early to avoid the lines.
