My favorite place anytime I want a sandwich or melt. Their Turkey bacon ranch, garlic grilled cheese, and pizza melt are phenomenal. Must try their pretzel with beer cheese it's huge and the cheese is so yummy. All their beers on tap are bomb and they rotate them. Great customer services and a place where anyone can feel welcome. Really delicious and smooth tasting beers at this craft brewery in Riverview. No food offered, but this is typical of a lot of craft breweries in Hillsborough or Manatee county. That said, there's a few options for food around and new businesses still being developed in the plaza this brewery resides. There's a dozen or so selections to choose from. I particularly liked their signature IPA. All the beer I tried here had full body and flavor, and didn't feel like the additional tones were an afterthought. Also, some craft places have beer that tastes a bit chemically for lack of a better word - not here. There's a currently full mug club and lockers here, but renewals are 3/31/xx, so check in for available spaces. A year and a half young, this place is on the right track for success and hopefully will be around for years to come! read more

Nice, light, and refreshing all around; the perfect summer drinks! Leaven Brewing also has very well-priced food and plenty of party games by the lockers. What a fun neighborhood brewery! Super chill, relaxing atmosphere with what appeared to be locals (inviting and friendly locals). On our first week brewery tour this was stop number 2 which did not disappoint. Service was quick and friendly and the beers tasted great. I got a red ale called cardigan bay that had notes of English toffee and almond and that combination in a red ale was SUPERB. My gf got a blonde ale called cheeky blonde I believe, which was also fantastic. They have a cool concept that helps to invite community and create community, which is a mug club. I'm not too sure of all the details yet but since I am so close I will definitely be finding out soon! After dropping off my laundry at Best Choice, we decided to check out Leaven, which is in the same shopping center. They had several lower alcohol brews, which my wife likes and a couple of high test brews for me. A little disconcerting that an indoor venue in the height of a COVID outbreak didn't have any staff or patrons wearing masks. We got our brews and went outside to sit at the metal tables on the sidewalk. Not so pleasant in the heat of the afternoon with no fans or other means to stay cool. I got the Old School IPA and The Brown brown ale. The OS was good in that classic West Coast style , but the brown was a little more like an English mild lacking a bit of flavor oomph. My wife really enjoyed the 3.1412... Berlinerweiss apple pie brew. We probably won't be back until the local COVID outbreak simmers down because of the lack of comfortable outdoor seating. read more

I've been to Leaven quite a bit. They also have a nice rotation of beers from IPAs to stouts, ales, lagers, etc usually with catchy names. The atmosphere is great with their indoor and patio seating. They also have a food kitchen now. I do miss the taco truck they had for so long but their menu has plenty of items to choose from. I was so disappointed in this place after waiting to make the trek. We had met the owners when they were visiting Four Stacks and told them we would come by. The atmosphere is a warehouse with tons of shiny, bright lights. I have never been in a bar that was so bright. I literally wanted to put on sunglasses. The small four top tables with stools are too small for 4 people and the stools are uncomfortable. Overall it didn't feel clean. The canned music was crazy loud, so we had a hard time talking. When the live music came on, we couldn't really hear it right. I can't figure out why, but there were a bunch of little kids there. Who brings little kids to breweries? Maybe the owners expect that since there was a shelf full of games for kids to play. Not my thing when I go out for drinks and music. There were probably 10 beers from which to choose, and although somewhat interesting flavors, I had a hard time picking something I would like. I chose The Red, which was ok, nothing special. My wife and I love micro-brew places. We met the couple who own Leaven at another brew house about 6 months before they opened Leaven. They are very nice people and we were looking forward to check out Leaven. What we experienced at Leaven was very different from many of the other brew house businesses in the region. The lights were extremely bright and the music extremely loud. The place has very industrial feel to it. There are a bunch of round high top tables that seat 2 people, one lower and another higher, long, rectangular tables. The chairs are mostly stools with no backs. There is a bar that seats about 8 people. The back end of Leaven is open and a food truck sits just outside the opening. There was no one around to greet us when we entered and there was no table service (a little surprising given that it was a Friday evening). The beer menu was limited. There were 4 or 5 non-flavored beers and a similar number flavored beers. There were no IPAs on the menu, which was disappointing. My wife had a red ale type beer and I a stoudt. Both were pretty good. We like to support small businesses, especially these type. However, our experience was such that we likely will not return. read more

We tried this place for the first time 3/31/23. You do not get waited on, you have to go to the counter to place and get your order. This was ok only because they were not busy when we were there. My first mistake was not checking the price of the wine before ordering (my bad) because wine is $9!! I can get a martini for that price (real alcohol)! The price of their potato chips is pricey too $2.25. My husband ordered the Cubano and I had the Ham & Cheese. My sandwich was ok, and real cheesy. This sandwich really needed pickles or a pickle spear on the side to balance the flavors. It was also very bland so we got mayo on the side and this helped the sandwich a LOT. But seriously, if you're paying this much for a sandwich and it is lacking in flavor, you aren't getting your money's worth. The Cubano was ok, not great. And again, it needed mayo as well. The price of these sandwiches (very expensive), chips & WINE (I'm not a beer drinker) we got out of there for $65. The minimum tip starts at 20%, but why? It isn't like they wait on you, you wait on yourself! You put your own order in, pick up and pay at their counter not at your table. But overall, for the price, you pay TOO MUCH for a sandwich. If you aren't a beer drinker, just have water. If you want a good sandwich, go to Jersey Mike's. If you just want to have a beer, go here, sit at the counter because food (and wine) is overpriced. read more

The tacos have become a Sandwich Shop! There are a couple vegetarian options- grilled cheese and caprese. The Italian is AMAZING! The turkey club- the bacon and garlic aioli make this sandwich so good! The meatball sub is a classic. The grilled cheese is made on garlic bread- need I say more? And the Cuban is one of the best in the area. They also run specials every now and then. They have a nice starting beer list and I did a flight during my first visit - the Is Good Kolsch beer is my favorite though. I recommend it. I like Leaven. The beer selection has grown since they've opened. The place has a decent vibe, some games if you have kiddos with you, Bunches of tables and a pretty good amount of standing room as well. Gets VERY loud and busy during peak times, so keep that in mind. And I've been there a few times when they're busy - be prepared to wait for a refill unless you occupy one of the ten or so barstools. The line gets long and moves kinda slow. The owner/brewer is around all the time, and he's a good guy to chat with if you can catch his ear. Just, ya know, he's at work, so if he looks busy, he probably is. Definitely worth a stop, plus the pretzel place next door is the perfect accompaniment to drinking several craft beers. read more

Yay! Finally! Riverview has it's very first brewery and what an awesome place it is. Spacious and open with lots of seating inside and out. There are a few games but most importantly the beer. I enjoyed a blonde, the Red, but my was the Citra!! All were tasty and refreshing. They offer guest cider and have guest beers on tap. The hubs and I were also lucky enough to get in their mug club!
