While the funds were eventually returned, the process required unnecessary escalation and significant effort.

Caulk failed prior to first heavy rain. -Slider on back of house also lacked an aluminum rain cap and caulk when payment was requested for a completed job. I called and Maris came out and caulked. No capping on slider. -"Installation includes all caulking/aluminum capping-where needed" is stated on the Maris contract. -First heavy rain 3 weeks after install I had heavy water running down the sheathing and interior foundation wall below one window where caulk failed, and wrap was catching water. -Maris paid for Servpro water remediation to dry up the water and do a flood cut after I requested it. Maris and I agreed to have Alside's warranty contractor detail and repair all the issues from my install in April 2024. Severe Quality Issues & Failure to Rectify…read more Project: Back patio and concrete sidewalk addition (2024) Contractor: Seth Tomlin (Tomlin's Home Services) I cannot recommend Tomlin's Home Services due to severe failures, poor workmanship, and a total lack of accountability. Despite being a polite individual, Seth's concrete work was substandard and resulted in a project that was both non-functional and aesthetically unacceptable. Primary Issues: Poor Grading & Drainage: The patio was not properly graded, leading to significant standing water. I raised concerns about the grading during the process multiple times, but they were ignored. Mechanical Failure: Incorrect materials were used for the sump pump drainage and base materials of the patio pad, causing water to discharge directly under the concrete pad and would have caused future structural instalbility of the pad (found when we tore the pad up to replace it two months later). I raised concerns about the option for these materials as well, and obviously it was also ignored. Substandard Finish: The project was left with breaks at the joints/edges, concrete splatter on my siding and brick, and a generally messy job site. Total Loss: The work was so poor that I had to hire a second contractor to completely tear out and redo the patio pad. I am still facing the cost of repairing the sidewalks. Resolution Failure: Over the last two years, I have provided Seth with extensive photo documentation and multiple opportunities to provide a refund and cover the corrective costs. While he initially agreed to a repayment in his words to avoid involving his insurance, he has failed to provide any reimbursement to date. The Bottom Line: This experience has cost me a significant amount of money in both the initial payment and the subsequent demolition/reconstruction. If you are looking for quality concrete work and a contractor who stands behind their mistakes, I strongly suggest looking elsewhere.

This small company was a nightmare to work with. The owner, and the only person i met face to…read moreface, was the reason. They took cash as a 50% deposit before they would order the materials. But they couldn't give me a receipt as they were in a "new office". So I had a hand written receipt that i wrote out, as i didn't trust giving cash with a promise of an emailed receipt. The emailed receipt still hadn't arrived by Monday. I asked for a copy of the material order to be emailled. They couldn't provide that and never did. I then tried to cancel everything and he refused to send me a check and wanted to discount his expenses for his time and costs. and have me come to him as he wasn't going to mail it. I felt bullied by him. Not wanting to risk losing my money, I apologized for not trusting him, and we agreed to proceed. Materials were delivered on time. Start date was moved back. Twice. Next start date was set for Columbus day and the only person who showed up was a drone person and he asked if the job was completed to my satisfaction. (There was zero work started and four crates of materials sitting on the sidewalk.) This person was oblivious to his surroundings. Thank God we had Mexicans show up the next day to do the real work. They did most of it but left trash, limbs and 8 inch ruts in the yard where the trailer was. What they didn't leave was about a third of the over bought shingles. Not a single piece was left behind to patch something in the future. They also didn't touch an overhang after one of the crew fell through it. It needed to be replaced. SG asked me if I knew a carpenter who could fix it? Huh? He later wrote me an estimate that involved $600 in shingles. The same shingles that I had already paid for. No thanks. It then took him a week and several excuses before the three bundles of shingles that I had paid for were delivered to me for someone else to repair the overhang. Don't ever pay anyone in cash. Don't ever pay everything until the job is completed. There are companies out there that will do that.

After 2 days the blemishes were still as visible as they ever were and paint was dripped on baseboards, wallpaper and slopped onto adjoining room walls. Monkeys would have done a better job. The owner acknowledged the issues and fixed them himself. Howver, it seemed like he would fix one issue with the walls and then create another. After 2 weeks I paid him and said everything was fine just to get him out. Today I opened a remaining can of paint to do some touch ups myself and a.) He left a roller in the paint can and b.) He has his company stickers on top of the can so that I can't get another can of paint because Sherwin Williams can't see the formula. Run from this company!
