The people seem very nice but within the one month my son was there he came home nearly every day with a scratch or bruise. At first I saw it as normal toddler boy stuff, playing hard in all but it escalated quickly. I came to pick up my son one day, he had a large scratch on his neck. I asked the teacher what happened and she said he fell on the rocks while at the playground which didn't make sense to me. The next morning I asked the lady up front if she could find out what happened for me and she said she would. When I arrived for pick up that day the lady I asked that morning said she didn't find out what happened then turned to the lady who seemed really confused about what I was asking and asked if she saw what happened (she wasn't even on the playground where it took place) she stuttered and eventually told me that he had done it to himself which I knew wasn't true because my son never did anything like that before. (Still has not to this day) I decided that day to start really taking note of any marks or incidents. He began to refuse school which he used to always be excited for which I thought was odd but people would tell me it's normal. The following week a child attacked my son scratching him all over his face and arms. Nobody seemed to really know what happened, the child was suspended. As soon as the child returned 5 days later he attacked my son again, biting him in the face, I was not notified until his teacher showed up later in the day and once again no one seemed to know what happened and there were conflicting stories. That day I decided we would not be returning in the best interest of my child's safety and mental wellbeing. Be wary of this place. Very sad and disappointed it turned out the way it did. read more

First off my son used to love daycare, I left the military and we came back to Texas and my mom had such a great experience here with my younger sibling that I thought it would be safe to put my son here. My son started attending this daycare last year, at first he would have incidents reports every few weeks so not common, about the last 2 months he was there he was having an incident almost every week especially the last two weeks he was having an incident almost every day. He had bruises, cuts, bite marks and had his head cut open that it required a staple because it wouldn't stop bleeding hours after it happened. Most of these incidents they couldn't tell me what happened or didn't even know about until I pointed them out to them to ask what happened. Not all the incidents he got received an incident report because they said they would write one for me to sign the following day and they would somehow keep forgetting, I believe only two actually got written up after I kept asking but others I gave up on asking. My son was left traumatized, I tried several other daycares after this one and he would keep screaming they were going to hurt him and would start making himself throw up the moment I drove into the parking lot. His grandma now takes care of him. They kept telling me what changes were going to be made, even made him change classrooms even though he was the one being hurt. On one incident he had scratch marks on his face and back of neck and I kept asking the lady in the front for days after and she responded rudely we don't know what happened so there's nothing left to do. Even when I talked to voice my concerns he never raised his voice at me but he always did cut me off and kept bringing the kids will be kids card. My son had to get a staple on his head! Bite marks with both top and bottom teeth! Marks he shouldn't have had! I wish I took a picture of each one, I should have took him out the moment they changed him to a different classroom but not the other kid(s) hurting him. I used to ask almost everyday how is he doing in daycare and the lady at the front would tell me how he would cry for me for a few mins but would start playing, he was so sweet, loved sharing, etc. yet when I told her he was no longer going there after getting his head cut open she told me that he never really liked daycare and never got adjusted to it and what not. So now I don't know what is the truth and for how long my son has been suffering since my son struggled with speech and was barely able to tell me what was going on near the end. He stopped attending February of this year. Never would I recommend this place, they will neglect your child. read more

We absolutely love learning tree day school! Many of my family members have brought their kids to Learning tree throughout the last 15ish years. When the time came, I felt confident in bringing my children here. Over the last few years we have the pleasure of knowing the staff - Everyone is so kind and attentive, the owner is phenomenal. When any question or concern arises he is on top of it right then and there. What I love most about learning tree is that my child's education starts right here at such a young age - my youngest being timid has flourished. This daycare is dangerous. There was zero accountability when my son came home with bruises and gashes on his head that bled horribly. My girls have been to a few daycares in the Round Rock area over the past 5 years and I have never been happier than I am with Learning Tree. Mr. Shah is fun, friendly, professional and his staff go above and beyond when there has ever been an issue or question. It seems as though sometimes they have a hard time keeping a couple rooms with teachers but 8 out of 10 faces are familiar and have been there for a while. I have seen teacher turnover rate MUCH higher at other centers. The after school/summer teacher always makes things exciting and fun for her class. You can tell she really loves doing what she does. I have two daughters(5&7) that have been attending Learning Tree for 4 yrs. The teachers are very nice and genuinely care for the kids. Miss Jackie (Director) is no longer there (retired). She is missed but Mr Shah and the staff make every effort to run the center as she did. The kids are given healthy lunches and snacks after school which is nice. They follow the RRISD curriculum and school calendar. They are very prompt to let you know if there will be a delay or closing due to weather. Also, if your child is ill or has an incident, such as falling on the playground, they notify you. The prices are fair and considering they pick your children up from school and offer great summer programs (swimming lessons, trips to the movies, petting zoo bowling, puppet shows, etc) it's well worth it. The rooms are kept clean and I have seen the teachers on many occasions disinfecting the tables, toys, and other surfaces in the rooms. My children have only come home with a cold caught at day care a few times in the many years we have been going there. Considering that kids have little concept of germs, this is pretty good. Overall, I have to say I am VERY pleased with LT. I have recommended them to several friends and family members who also have their children attend and are very happy. read more

We started my son in daycare at 1 years old. Learning Tree was an easy choice because my husbands daughter came here when she was young about 12 years ago. The directors are so friendly. I notice that they always have new arts and crafts on the walls and doors. I love my sons current teacher Ms Yiliam. I can tell she really cares for him. Always excited to see him everyday. Another thing that impresses me is that everyone here knows My son by name, even staff members I've never seen before. So that makes me feel good. My son has been attending Learning Tree for about two years now. He started when he was a tiny tike and just learned to walk. The staff is caring and always greet me by name. The cost is reasonable. My son has made friends and is learning so much. I can't tell you how appreciative I am with their help with potty training especially! I found Learning Tree and checked them out. The prices are manageable compared to others. When I saw the school I was in aw. They have terrific teachers and a wonderful staff. The playground is age appropriate for each class and they even teach swimming in the summer. The owner Umang Shah is phenomenal. They are so down to Earth. I have continued to send me children years after they started school. They love Learning Tree. My son age 5 came home last week raving about a clown that came to perform for them at the school. The following week my daughter age 6 went on and on about an animal exhibit brought to them. Learning Tree is constantly going above and beyond. I absolutely adore them and their prices blow the competitors out of the water! This has been one of the best decisions I have made for child care. Being new to the area 2 years ago, the staff was absolutely helpful and welcoming. There is a home feeling to the facility. The rates are reasonable and not outragious. They always show they care from the front desk to the caregivers up to the director. My son absolutely loves going and misses his teachers when he can't go. And loves all the activities he gets to participate in while he's there. I'll start off with a full disclosure. I only took my child here for two days of care. So, take that into consideration when you read my review. The good: The location is close to where I live, so I think that's awesome. The prices-It's $90 a week for part time care. The Staff-Very friendly and they go out of their way to work with your schedule and needs. The Hours-They are open from 6:30AM to 6PM. I think that tends to do well for most working adults. The center is painted very brightly and they claim to disinfect their rooms/toys daily. They also serve breakfast/lunch and a pm snack. They send the kiddo's things home every Friday to be laundered. They take deposits, offer Spanish classes, and offer exercise programs. They have minimal TV time and more hands-on learning time. The bad: When I went to pick up my daughter on both days, the kids were dirty. Most had snot running down their nose or they had dry snot. GROSS. Also, on the second day that I went to pick up my kid, she had a poopy pamper. How long was she sitting in her own feces? That pissed me off. There was only one teacher for ten kids. I know that I have trouble handling my toddler half the time, I can't imagine one person trying to handle 10; Also, they took the kids outside even when it was 40 degrees. When I asked about this, I was told it was state mandated. However, a different daycare told me that if it was cold outside, they kept the kids in. So, I am not sure who to believe. They change the kids in the same room they eat in, so every time you walk in there, it stinks like potty. The UGLY: The first evening that I went to pick my child up from the daycare, the teacher who walked me back noticed a little boy who appeared to be sick. She told the teacher in the room that they should send him home because he was ill. Keep in mind that this is after 3pm. Why didn't they send him home sooner? Or why didn't the teacher who had been with him all day long notice? (again, too many kids for one person) I also noticed that the kids all coughed all over one another and nothing was really done to prevent the spreading of germs. I understand it's a daycare and kids will be sick and spread viruses. However, I just think they could have been more sanitary. While snack time was going on, my daughter was able to poke at another little girl's food. Never was she reprimanded or told to keep her hands on her own plate. The other little girl was too busy playing with the toys. The teacher never encouraged her to come and eat. So, they just threw the food away when snack time was over. Anyhow, to make a long story short, in two days my daughter caught a nasty virus that gave her a cold, cough, and two major ear infections. The next weekend she wound up in the hospital. The doctors confirmed it was something she picked up while in daycare. Because my daughter's immune system was not attuned to the germs there, she was hit pretty hard and is still recovering. When I called to warn the daycare, I was told that no other kid was sick and that they disinfect every day so they had no worries. *SMH* Long story short, my daughter will never go back there. Even so, if my kid was used to daycare and her immune system was a little stronger, this may not have happened. I'd still like to see them keep the kids a little cleaner. read more

This place was a blessing for my family. After having a bad experience with another pre-school, we found this place for our 2 year old. In the other place she would cry all day from the moment we drop her, would come home starving, and you could tell she was being mistreated. But Learning Tree was totally different. The directors are very welcoming, the place is clean and age appropriate, organized, and spacious. My daughter felt right at home from the first day, she did not cry or asked for food when I dropped or picked her. She started learning and showing progress immediately. I was very happy with the teachers and staff. Although we had to bring her back home temporarily, I can't wait to bring her back to Learning Tree again. Highly recommend it. read more

My foster son goes to Learning Tree, and we love it. Ms. Jackie Freer, the Director, has been there since I myself was a middle-school boy scout whose troop met at Learning Tree. There's a lot of child care experience at Learning Tree, and our 2-year-old loves to go to school and see his teachers, especially his favorite, Ms. Tina. They have a great playground, excellent teachers, and do a lot of fun arts and crafts. We've had our foster son here for six months, and he looks forward to going every day. read more

My son has gone there since the age of one until now because we're moving(he's 3) we have never had a complaint about the care we have always loved his teachers and they couldn't have been friendlier to us and my son. I will confess...it's been over 20 years since I went to Learning Tree Day School, but I think there is something truly amazing about an establishment that can stay open for over 20 years and leave such an impression on a child that she remembers it like it was yesterday. My mom enrolled me at Learning Tree Day School the year I went to kindergarten. I am not 26 years old and some of my fondest memories are still from Learning Tree Day School. I learned to swim at Learning Tree (my mom enrolled me in swim classes), I played with some of my best friends on the massive playground (it was massive to me when I was a kid), I played imaginative games with my friends, learned to make bracelets from string and to hop scotch, I shot hoops in the basketball court and I sang songs with the teachers during activity time. I had a blast learning and playing at Learning Tree Day School. I can't comment on the current managers, or say much for how things are run, other than to say I was in a lot of day cares as a kid from a single parent home and my favorite by far was Learning Tree. I cannot imagine a better place for a kid to make beautiful memories of their childhood. I had so much fun there after school and in the summers. It was such an amazing, fun and adventurous place for my five year old self. I hope your kids will enjoy it as much as I did 20 years ago! :) read more

My daughter is four and a half. She has been at Learning Tree since she was 18 months old. I love this daycare. They have a very low turnover rate with the teachers which is rare at a daycare. There are a lot of teachers there that were there when we started. All of the teachers including the ones my daughter has never had as teachers know us and tell us hi by name every day. We love the ladies at the front desk who have also been there since we started. They know us both by first name and take time to talk to us on a personal level every day. In the last three years there has not been a single incident that I felt something was handled wrong or poorly, and I am very hard to please when it comes to my child. I recommend this daycare to everyone! We will be very sad when my daughter starts school and doesn't attend anymore. read more

My kid was there for a few days. There is no security in the place, I could walk in and out of the classroom without anyone asking me a thing. There were no teachers in the room , I couldn't understand what was going on, there were 2 ladies not dressed professionally that didn't know if they were supposed to be there in the first place. My child was bullied and came back with a swollen and bleeding lip. Our stuff was stolen. No one at the reception. For the safety of your own kid, please don't take them there ever. read more

RANT I am so angry I am shaking! I signed my son up for summer day care at Learning Tree Daycare. My son is type 1 diabetic and I called and and spoke with the director Umang Shah and explained he is type 1 diabetic and takes insolin and asked if it would be a problem? He said no and so I registered him and paid for the month of June and registration fees. Low and behold I drop my son off this morning andattempted to talk to someone about my sons diabetic care and Ms. Becky said they don't feel comfortable with testing his blood and giving him injections and told me they thought he was taking a pill. She also told me as a lisence child care facility they are not obligated to give medicine at anytime and do it as a favor. So I was pretty much told I need to take him home and was told I had to wait until 10 to speak to the director to see if I can get my money back. The look of hurt on my sons face was just to much for me :( He has been looking forward to this for weeks now. I start a new job next week and now I have no where to take him! read more

My son was being sexually molested by another child at the daycare. One of the teachers saw the other child slapping my son on his butt. My child also said that the other kid was touching his genitals. When I told the two ladies at the front desk, so that they could address it. They made inappropriate comments suggesting that my son was lying and that there was no way the other child could be doing that. They show preference in the kids instead of being unbiased and professional. I immediately pulled my child out, since they obviously could care less about my child's well being. They also have cameras and only pull videos of things that are convenient to them. One time I asked to see videos and all of a sudden they couldn't find the images. Mr. Shaw is friendly and professional. The two front clerks are usually in charge, and obviously not looking out for the kids best interest. On another occasion, I walked in the classroom as the kids were eating, the teacher grabbed a little girls plate and threw it in the trash because the little girl was playing with her food. The little girl began to cry because her food was taken away. I told the teacher that she shouldn't have done that, so she then gave her some more food because I said something. One other teacher responded to my child with "what the freak do you want?" when I told the staff so that they could address it, they then questioned my son the next day asking him "did your mom tell you to say that?" My granddaughters attend Learning Tree Day School. They are both thriving in the wonderful environment created by the staff and administration of their school. There is not a member of the staff that doesn't truly love working with young children My girls are warmly greeted by name by every staff member be see. Hugs and smiles are given and received all day long. I feel that Mr Shah goes above and beyond by providing not only a fun curriculum for each age group, but also fun and exciting extras throughout the year. Swimming lessons are provided in an on site pool every summer, as well as free swim time. Special field trips are arranged for specific age groups. The little ones have on sites visits from puppet masters, story tellers, clowns, etc. The older kids go to local parks, the movies, bowling, or to play putt putt. I very highly recommend this school to any parent looking for a quality program for any child between 1year all the way to after school care. You won't be disappointed, and the tuition can't be beat. Becky and Lali and Mr. Shah have always been amazing. We were going through a rough time, my son and I, when he first started at Learning Tree. They were always kind and understanding. They would call me if they ever had any discipline issues and trusted that I would handle them appropriately. They let me know if there is anything I should be aware of but are very quick to make sure my son knows when he is doing well. His teacher, Miss Juani , is outstanding! She is firm yet understanding. She is kind and respectful to me as a parent. While she has very clear boundaries with the children it is clear to them that they can also come to her for anything. We adore her. read more

My daughters have been here for about 6 months now so I feel I am qualified to write this positive review. Prior to me transferring my daughters to LT they were at Children's Courtyard. I actually have 4 kids total so we were at CCY for about 5 years. I had always thought highly of CCY and was proud to say my children attended there. After a few years the directors changed quite often and I saw the after school program go down hill. It went from having 5 to 6 teachers to having only 1 because they couldn't keep enrollment up. Still I stuck it out with them because let's face it looking for daycare isn't so easy. The final straw was when I was called a couple of weeks before the start of the school year to be told that they were discontinuing the pick up schedule from my daughters' school. After the initial shock of realizing that my loyalty of 5 years meant absolutely nothing to them, I immediately started looking for a new daycare. I had always kept LT in the back of my mind but I thought they closed at 6 pm and I needed a daycare that stayed open until 6:30 pm, I was surprised and happy to hear that they actually did close at the time that I was looking for. I visited the daycare and enrolled them the same day. One of the BEST things I love about this daycare is that they serve my children a full dinner when they get there from school and they also get a snack in the late afternoon. The staff always welcomes you and they show interest in their parents. I also like that they accept Credit Cards as a form of payment. Oh and by the way CCY told me the next day that they had made a mistake because they actually had a staff members child attending my daughters school so they would actually be able to go and pick my girls too... if it wasn't too late.. Well sorry but it was! I have no regrets except for not transferring them sooner. read more

My daughter has attended this school since May. She has been sick EVERY week. They let the kids touch each other's food, put their mouths on toys, and they don't send kids home that are obviously sick. Tonight my child was HOSPITALIZED after just two days at the school this week because she had a fever and could not breathe. This place is terrible! I pulled my son after 4 days and two "write ups"! yes they wrote my child up for crying and throwing a tantrum! Every time I would walk in every child in the place would be crying! Now i see why! The "teachers" as they call them are rude and lazy and barely speak English and when i went to pick my son up she was holding him up by his arm. I understand that my son may have been a lot to handle just because it was his first time in daycare but I pay for you people to provide care for my child not to make easy money by just watching him. The kids always had running noses and when we would pick up my son he would be dirty. If your child is a first timer for daycare this is not the place for them! Our oldest son has been attending Learning Tree Day School for almost 2 years now and has thrived academically and socially. Our family doesn't view Learning Tree as just a daycare; instead, we feel that it is like a second home for our son. I am thrilled to know that my son will experience some of the same things I did when I attended 30 odd years ago. He was so excited to hear that his Mother attended Learning Tree as well. The staff has been attentive, fair, provides timely feedback regarding our son's progress and are extremely nurturing. We acknowledge that he is receiving quality care and expect nothing less. Every day we drop him off, we are greeted by the front desk staff, his teachers and other staff members. This summer he was able to participate in swimming lessons and has shown significant improvement with his skills and comfort in the water. We are proud and thankful to have our son attend such a stellar school and can't wait to have our youngest son attend as well. I went to check out this facility for a daycare option for my child. The minute we walked in, we wanted to leave. It had a terrible odor. It's a cinderblock building and the classrooms look like prison cells with no windows. The entire building is dirty and the paint, baseboards and floor are filthy. They told us each room was sanitized only *once a month* !!!??? When we were shown the classroom our child would be in, half of the poor children were sick and had runny noses flowing down their faces. I didn't want my child to touch a thing and couldn't get out of that room fast enough. They said the kids spent almost all day in that tiny room, snack time, nap time, with a short outdoor playtime once a day. I felt so sorry for those poor kids. I would drive an hour out of my way rather than take my child to this facility. I couldn't get it out of my mind the rest of the day how any parent would willfully pay to take their child here. I wasnt going to rate/review this daycare until I read a recent review, which happened to be less than 24 hrs after my child was dismissed from here. I shared several things ive seen/heard w/ the owner (throughout our time there) & kept some to myself bc they werent doing anything. I told the owner this at our meeting, which is why I believe the review was written for them (to make them look good). Seeing how it is about her son & having behavior but how GREAT they were & spoke so HIGHLY of all involved (the same in my sons care & behavior). I asked my son if that child gets in trouble ever & he immediately said no. My son has had some behavior but it was DEFINITELY not handled well. The day he was dismissed followed an incident in the pool that day, which was actually initiated by the son of that reviewer. That child was trying to stop my son from catching a ball so he covered my son's eyes (standing in the pool where they are just above the water) then got mad after my son got the ball after that & while outside of the pool pushed my son in right by the steps, my son hit his foot on the step causing pain. So my son "splashed" water & had to get out. The "adult" supervision missed what led up to the splash (the more unsafe issues). My son tried to tell what happened but wasnt given a chance so he remained upset/mad (bc he was hurt & they didn't care to know). Then he refused to go in. Once I got there to pick him up & meet (w/ the owner, teacher and 1 other) they tried to tell me my son freaked out bc a child smaller than him slightly bumped him so I told my son to tell them what happened as he tried to they stopped him to get the other child so they could get the "truth". The child came in, admitted all of it & told my son "yeah that hurts" in regards to hitting your foot on the steps (not disciplined in anyway) instead the teacher Miss Juani (who is outstanding per the reviewer) rubbed the boys head & told the other lady "how cute he is" right infront of us. That is FAR from "outstanding". Miss Juani is rude & disrespectful. She would make a face talking about my son (to the point where I had to ask to stop bc its disrespectful & I don't appreciate it). I have talked w/ her before & several times she talked to us infront of all the kids (even after asked specifically not to). Its humiliating & degrading to a child & all it did was lower his self esteem & trust w/ her. He refused to go to her for anything, if another child bullied/hit him he waited to tell me. I have also come in several times hearing her/other teachers speak w/ such negative tones or even yelling at kid. My sister at 13 couldnt believe they would treat kids like that. I understand things my son has done there/said arent appropriate/tolerated & he is disciplined at home WHEN I AM INFORMED. However, a couple weeks ago I went to the teacher bc my son to me he was told he wouldnt be able to swim that day bc he wouldn't read in front of everyone. I told her that is NOT going to happen. She will NOT punish my son for not participating in something hes not comfortable with. She redirected to something from 2-3 days prior. I told her right then that if they dont tell me for 2-3 days then I will NOT be disciplining him. If it was not an issue that you didn't tell me until I approach you then I don't feel he needs to be punished days after. From the moment I brought a problem to her all of the sudden his behavior escalated. Ive heard how he has been talked to (he treats others how he is treated) so if hes dismissed for his words then why is the teacher who KNOWS BETTER than kids still there? I also heared how the teacher who picks up from school is always on her phone & drove almost to her house once. When she was asked about it, denied it, then confronted my 7 YR OLD & held a grudge for days. I also read the behavior observation that was done months ago (bc the center said they NEVER got it), they suggested - the teacher offer alternate activities to sitting down for long periods/offer something in between all of the sitting they are expected to do & for the teacher to use more "positive" language. She tried NONE. Don't ask for suggestions, not use them then act like you don't know what else to do. Its all just highly unprofessional - especially the meeting we had to dismiss w/ my son at 7 in the room w/ 2 adults bashing him, anything that was brought up about what has been done TO him was ignored & redirected to something else. So we left. I called the next day requesting the owner email me the reason he was dismissed (that day he said something about a liability, not sure why, would think the child who covered his eyes & pushed him in the pool to be a liability), I never received an email. I sent a follow up email & heard nothing. I stopped by & was told he didnt get a chance to, I asked to see his file thinking it should be there & was told that if anything came through she would know. The Learning Tree Day school is a wonderful daycare. My daughter has been attending this daycare for about two years now and I am very satisfied with the staff members, curriculum, schedule, and food program. Becky, Lollie, and Mr. Shah make you feel like you are family when you walk in the door and when you leave the building. The teachers my daughter has had are very kind, compassionate, loving, and I can tell that they love the children they work with. Every morning my daughter is excited to go to school and when I pick her up she wants to stay. This tells me she is very comfortable at this daycare. They provide breakfast, snack, and lunch to the children at no extra cost. The center is open from 6:30am-6:30pm which works well for working parents, like myself. The classrooms are cleaned every evening and I see them sanitize the toys frequently. I am very satisfied with this daycare and I recommend it to anyone in the Round Rock area.
