If you are considering taking an adult class or sending your child to Cordovan Art School in Round Rock, don't hesitate. You will not be disappointed! I can't say enough good things about this place. The front office staff gies above and beyond, especially Nancy, who has been nothing but kind and helpful. I've been taking an adult class with instructor Dotti Berry. She is an amazing teacher, instructing from the heart and sharing her wealth of knowledge and love of art! Whether it's fundamentals, techniques or color basics, she is right there to guide you every step of the way. I've taken classes at other studios that are not as good as Cordovan. I should start this review by explaining I'm a big fan of Cordovan Art School. My daughter has attended art classes here for spring break camp and had a wonderful time and created beautiful art we still have displayed. This review is based off the pottery painting birthday party we held in January. Cordovan Art School offers to come to your home or event for a remote party. This was ideal for us, and the party itself was wonderful. The pottery instructor was friendly and informative. The only downer to a remote party is limited glaze colors, which is to be expected. The pottery turned out beautiful and was even packaged individually with a tag/label for the painter. I wish I could rate 5 stars, but the communication from Cordovan was lacking. After paying the deposit for the party, I was told a representative would give me a call regarding the party a few days prior to the event. There was no phone call. I reached out, then, asking which pottery pieces were going to be selected for the party. I was told to go to the Round Rock location to select my pieces, only to arrive and be told their selection was so limited that I would have better luck at the Cedar Park location. After the party, I had to reach out multiple times regarding when the pottery was available for pickup, when to pick up my daughters "Happy Birthday" plate that was signed by attendees of her party, etc. I called multiple times over the span of two weeks, and sent at least 3-4 emails regarding these topics. Each time every member I spoke with was friendly, and promised followup, but the communication always had to be initiated by the customer. It was frustrating for sure. I think dealing with multiple locations definitely attributed to this communication issue. Overall it was still a positive experience, and I would use them again. I wanted to provide some feedback to the owner regarding the communication and followup for his team. read more

I'm so impressed with the school in The Woodlands. Amazing teachers that have been so patient and kind with my son. The school's manager, Ciciley, is so focused on making our experience a great one, and it seems that's true for everyone that walks through the door. The school and Ciciley are gems! I wanted to take some art classes and had the good luck of starting out at Cordovan at the Jerry's Artarama location in Austin. The instructors are great and you meet really nice people with a similar interest and appreciation of art. I can't recommend the school enough. I wish I had found them sooner! I really have no innate talent, and it is heartening to know that artistic technique can be learned with practice and good instruction. The whole experience is awesome, really relaxing, as well. I wish I could quit my job and do this all the time! Ladies Night Out classes are fun, so far I have had one with Rose and she is awesome. I am taking a weekly art class with Debbie, who is so positive and encouraging. John substituted for Debbie one night, and he is a great instructor, as well. Only a month and half into the classes and you should see what people are producing! I honestly thought I would just try it a month and move to the Round Rock campus/location, but I don't want to leave my group and instructor---so I am staying with the Austin location. My daughter was enrolled in the course for one week where she stayed all day. She had nothing but fun things to say about being there. They did lots of projects related to different aspects of art and crafts and at the end of her weeks session they had an art show that made everyone smile. She learned new concepts on layers, colors, textures, and materials. She was artistic before, but the school let her expand on that more than what she already knew. Seeing her smiles and pride was well worth the value of the classes. read more

I started taking classes with John about 8 months ago. John has just the right blend of "getting in there" to help you progress and letting you figure things out so you have your own style. The atmosphere there is amazing. There is so much talent in our class that it helps all of us learn and be inspired to produce even better work. The day my daughter announced, "I'm born to be an artist and a veterinarian!" I began looking for ways to encourage both passions. The search for an art class wasn't as easy as it sounds: she was clear that, at the ripe old age of 7, she wasn't interested in wasting her time but, rather, was interested ONLY in drawing and in being guided ONLY by someone she liked. We checked out a few places before finding our way to Cordovan at Jerry's Artarama but upon meeting Rose, I felt we had to give it a chance. We've now been attending Jessica's homeschool drawing class for 3 months and have been absolutely delighted with the experience! The Cordovan staff knows us and seems genuinely interested in us and I couldn't be more pleased with the impression Jessica has made on my aspiring little artist! I can see her progress each week, she can't wait for class, and she's developing a true appreciation for her craft. I am a past student of Cordovan Art School. I am anxiously waiting for the day that I can start taking classes again. I am amazed what I have learned from all of the teachers. I went in not knowing anything and now have people wanting me to paint portraits and other pictures for them. Some even have offered to buy my work. John H., David T., and Sarah are the best. They are wonderful people and wonderful teachers. If you are thinking of taking art classes anywhere, I highly recommend you attend Cordovan. You will not be sorry.
