Gymnastics., it just didn't make sense and didn't sound like Jump at all. We've had the best experience there for the past three years. Started there when my oldest daughter was two (she is now five), then my son who is now three, and another son who is waiting to be old enough to start classes there. Between all the classes, camps, parent day out programs, gym shows, we spend a lot of time at Jump and I don't have enough words to describe how nurturing their place is. Class size is small (4 kiddos in younger classes, 6 in older classes). Lot's of personal attention. Coaches get to know kids well, learn their traits, connect with them. My son started talking when he was about 2.5, and his first words were said when he was in class with coach Doug. The next week he was saying words like "planet" and "constellation" (the theme at the time was space). Speaking of themes, the gym decorations are super sweet and change frequently. For example, a few weeks before Christmas, the kids would glide around the gym on paper plates ("skates"), throw snowballs with rolled up white socks. At the end of the class my kids run to me and ask "Mommy, did you see how I was a mean bear and I crawled on those bars and growled?" or "Did you see how I was a spider and I crawled with my feet all the way up on the wall?" Classes are full of creative ideas that make the little ones light up, smile, and laugh when they do the routines. The levels are broken down by age (for example, 2-3 year olds are Pollywogs, 3-4 year olds are Yellow Frogs, 4-5 are Orange Frogs, then Red, Blue, and Green). In order to move up to next level, they have to learn specific skills, and they can keep track of it with their skill chart. At the end of each semester there is a gym show where all parents and friends can come and watch their child perform the skills learned. They are awarded a medal at the end, and if they gained enough skills, they move up to the next level. Another good perk is the type of parents who come there. Very cool and sweet people. I can't even begin to describe how good Jump classes have been for my children. Every week we go there to "recharge", there is so much positive and loving energy there. The sessions ran about three hours, which allowed for plenty of individual attention while still keeping the atmosphere engaging. She also gives clear guidance on what materials to bring. Students bring their own paints and brushes and she's helpful about recommending what to start with. All of the supplies and tools are provided whenever she comes to the designated spot you provide. The only thing needed is a power outlet so the pottery wheel can work. The way it works usually is whenever she gets there, she'll get set up and then go over how to use the wheel. There are two parts to the class, the wheel section and then the build your own portion. The wheel section is where you can make a bowl or cup. The build your own is where you can make little knick knacks or cool objects. The tools make it a lot easier to build things and she provides help on the wheel section so that way the object you're making can come out great. After she's done explaining things, you're free to work on whatever you want and create however many things you like. The woman is incredibly nice and helpful. Pottery might seem intimidating but it's a lot of fun. You can paint your objects once they solidify a little bit and then once everything is done, she'll take them with her and you'll have to wait around 2 weeks. The wait is worth it, they come out shiny and very colorful if you put enough coats on. I would recommend this to anyone who is looking for something different to do on a special occasion.
