Good food, drinks are hit or miss as sometimes the frozen margarita machine is not working; like McDs. Decent sized portions.

Just passing through and needed a good lunch. We all had the combination plate of one taco and one enchilada with green chile sauce. It was all yummy! The spice level was just right with great flavor. The tortillas were firm and earthy flavored. The amount of food was perfect for me. Service was friendly and the price was fantastic. Well this was an example of a referral from somebody in the front desk of our hotel who could have been our daughter. Maybe it was the best Mexican food in town like she claimed, but I think Clovis can do better. It was simple low spice, almost Bland flavor and other than that very good. The only reason I'm giving this place four stars is because I discovered the goodness that is the Strawberry Margarita. I actually ended up dining here twice as it was very close by to my hotel and the lush in me couldn't stay away from the Margaritas! Who knew strawberries could prove soo delish!?!? The food was ok. We stopped in to this place because we were working on the military base nearby and our hotel was around the corner. First time my grilled tequila lime chicken and grilled shrimp were easy enough to get down. Second time around I had the chicken enchilada platter with the green chile sauce...the sauce was a tad spicy but was also a lil bland...it was better than my first time around though, and the rice and beans were just so-so. Went to Leals because it was within walking distance of my hotel. Started with an Iced Tea which was cloudy (probably iced too soon after brewing) but tasted fine. Waitress kept my glass filled the entire time I was there. Quickly brought chips and salsa. Salsa was mild but very flavorful. Kept them refilled as needed. Food arrived promptly and looked delicious. I find in most Mexican restaurants the rice to be bland and flavorless. This rice was the same. I don't eat refried beans but these looked a little runny. The cheese enchilada was a good standard enchilada. The tamale was a good standard tamale. The ground beef taco was seasoned very well and I really liked the crispy shell. Not sure what was different but I enjoyed it. The chili relleno was a little bland and a little heavy on the breading. The tostado used the same crispy tortilla as the taco. A little too much refried beans (remember, I don't eat them) but overall not bad. I normally don't order tostadas because of the beans but it came with my meal. Overall the meal was standard fare for a Mexican Restaurant. I would not reorder the tostado or chili relleno but that may be up your alley. If I am in town long enough I will be back to try the burritos and other enchiladas. Leals is a place I would return to and recommend to my friends. Good food and priced right. read more

Place is clean. Service is good. And they are fast. I usually eat at the Leal's in Muleshoe which is AWESOME, but this place does not compare. The hot sauce tastes like it's from a bottle, and the food taste bland, at least for my taste. read more

I have eaten here a few times when visiting with folks for work. It gets pretty busy at lunchtime and so you might want to arrive ahead of the rush (around 11.15am). The complimentary chips and salsa are pretty good (you can find the chips bagged in local - and sometimes not so local - grocery stores) - the salsa has a good fresh flavor. They have a pretty extensive menu and so there should be something for most people. I only wish the spice level was higher/hotter - the food has always been well prepared and fresh, just not spicy enough for me. read more

Went to Leal's last week on my way from Texas to Arizona. I frequently stop at any Leal's I come across and have been extremely satisfied with the food and service. I had not tried this Leal's before, and was I in for a treat. My server, Chalee, was probably the best waitress I have had in the past 30 years and I eat out every week somewhere. She had the best personality and work ethic that I have seen in any type of labor category! Such a sweet soul and kind and caring. Leal's Mexican food is always excellent as well. Great service, pretty good food. This place will forever hold a special place in my heart. Our car broke down outside of town and we wanted to get some good food at a casual place before dealing with our car. The service was on top, and the food wasn't your usual slop that can come with these types of places. Everyone was incredibly friendly, too. As an out of towner, I valued that over all. The food here is great. Good service. I don't live here so only get to eat here when passing through. Once I was sick and asked for something to go. They made tortilla soup even though it was not on the menu. Tonight am having chicken cilantro. Very delicious. Grilled chicken with grilled cilantro, onions and tomatoes on top. I am in Clovis once a month to every 6 weeks on construction business associated with CAFB and decided to take the project crew back to try Leal's again. BIGGEST MISTAKE EVER! They were belligerent about one person in our party having a "sideways" photo ID and declining to serve him a beer after a hard day's work despite him clearly being well over 21 years old. They were to the point of being rude so we walked straight out of there and went to Taqueria Jalisco in Clovis, NM for a real authentic and tasty meal. Refer to my review for that restaurant for the result. You are better off going to Burger King than even bother with Leal's. read more

The initial impression I had of the restaurant was not good. People were waiting for tables outside when there was tables available inside. Are there not enough servers to cover all the tables? Do they not realize it's a Friday night and they need to utilize all their tables? I didn't wait long (being a party of one) but it's pretty unimpressive to see the line and see the empty tables. My crispy chile relleno was delicious but it could have had a lot more brisket. The "bed" of brisket on the menu is like a small spoonful. The service was decent- it was very busy and my server was very prompted. However, their inability to utilize all their tables was enough to make me reconsider going back (and go to the other location to see if they had the same "issue"). read more

Chips and Salsa! YUM. Quaesadilla's...delicious! Service? EXCELLENT. I came here with a party of 6 hungry girls for a birthday party and we definitely had attentive service, and inhaled our food. The plates are big so you might want to wear your stretchy pants and the chips and salsa are addicting. Our waitress kept refilling our drinks and even asked if we wanted to order more margaritas once she noticed our cups getting empty. Extremely busy on lunch hours - but for a good reason. Everything is consistently good at this restaurant. It's the older of the two locations (the other being on Prince St.). tonight's service was the absolute worst. the hostess called our name, threw the menus and the table and took off... we wondered around the section looking for our table. our waitress didnt take our drink order for 10 minutes and we asked to speak to a member of management about the worthless hostess. we were greeted by a young girl that seemed to be just out of high school that didnt do anything but offer free queso which we didnt take. I figured she would tell the hostesses to do their jobs, but upon leaving, that same hostess threw three menus on the table next to us, leaving the people walking around to find their table. the food took forever to get to our table. to the point that we almost walked out. the only excuse we heard was "we are busy"... it was 530pm on a friday.. they dont get busy until 7pm. the staff is incompetent at best and shouldn't be in the food business. read more
