I recently had gutter work done through LeafFilter, facilitated by Lowe's. The initial interaction was a bit sales-heavy, with an emphasis on having all decision-makers present, which felt more like a sales tactic than a necessity. The appointment for an estimate was scheduled via my phone while at Lowes. And that was fine but they did collect my information at two different points. In the days after scheduling I received several no-reply texts about confirming the appointment. But when a conflict arose, re-scheduling the estimate was challenging. I had to go through a long chain of people on the phone before finally reaching someone who could help. Once I finally got the right person to help me, the appointment was rescheduled. On the day of the appointment, the salesperson arrived on time and was professional. The estimate seemed reasonable, though it was the only one I solicited, and I have no prior experience with gutter work to compare. The crew arrived the following day, but unfortunately, they brought the wrong color materials. The foreman immediately brought it to my attention and after discussing the issue, I selected a new color. The foreman told me someone from LeafFilter would call to reschedule. The problem was, I never received that call. The next morning, the same crew member reached out to me via text asking if I had been contacted yet. I quickly realized he was parked out front, so we decided to go ahead and complete the work that day. The crew worked hard and did a great job. They were very friendly and professional, and I was able to use their saw horses to spray-paint the visible fascia boards, which I appreciated. In the end, the new fascia boards and gutter are installed properly, with a good slope for drainage and a color match that turned out pretty good, considering the original color was sun-faded. The wife was happy with it, so happy life. The only downside was a few small gutter scraps left in a rock bed, but they were pretty hard to spot in that area and I would expect I might find a couple little things after a job like this. To sum it up: while the crew from Gutter Vet (a contractor, not employees of LeafFilter) did a great job, LeafFilter's sales approach felt a bit pushy and their rescheduling process was challenging. I would have appreciated the ability to reply to the texts to reschedule. That said, the work itself was solid, completed quickly, and the crew Leaf Filter connected me with did their best to ensure everything was completed to my satisfaction. read more

If I could leave less I would. Where to start? Salesman Jeff hunter seems to promise things they don't do. He said they would completely remove our gutters and clean them like new and hand them with their hangers. That didn't happen. Jeff also said they would completely clean up their mess. That also didn't happen. I found several screws in my yard where my family and dogs walk and a few in my driveway which could cause tire issues. We also received an incomplete quote. He didn't include one of our buildings in the original but said he would measure it include. He didn't do that either. After the first day of incomplete installation and clean up I called and complained to the head office. Well someone took offense to that and was upset when they called my girlfriend the one who paid to have this garbage installed. They sent someone out "first thing" the next morning to install one buildings worth. He's taking about as long as the TWO guys did on the other two buildings on our property. Perhaps they could be a little faster if they weren't on the phone all day. Buyer beware, I think the portfolio of papers he showed us about the Better Business Bureau, and all that was a crock of lies. Let me leave a review that supports the 1.5 star rating. In fact, the 1.5 may be a bit too high. Since I'm getting to old to climb around on ladders, my wife and I decided to have gutter guards installed. I saw a Leaf Filter ad on TV offering to give a free quote valid for 12 months, so I called and scheduled an appointment for May 15, 2023. A young man (who shall remain nameless) promptly arrived at the scheduled time and spent 15 to 20 minutes inspecting my gutters. Then he came into the house and gave a very nice presentation regarding the virtues and benefits of using the Leaf Filter system vis a vis comparable gutter companies. I have a two story house and was expecting a quote of around four to five thousand dollars. The initial number presented to me was $11,687. I just nodded OK and said nothing then out of the blue I was given a 15% discount (must have been my lucky day) taking the total down to $9,993. I said OK and then I was offered an additional discount of 9.6 % if I paid in full at completion of job (which I intended to do), bringing the total down to $8,979. Up to now I'm OK with the entire process although I thought the installation was a bit overpriced. Again, I was thinking around 5K would be a fair price. So, I thanked the young man for his time and told him I would let him know within a couple of weeks what we intended to do. Now here comes the unscrupulous part that really offended me. On Tuesday, the very next day, I receive a text from the young man that they just landed a commercial job in my area with the same 6 inch gutters and the same color as mine. So now they can piggyback on this large order for me and I only have to pay $5,383! This is where I call BS!!!!! Number one, I don't think that I was so fortuitous as to have this commercial contract appear the next day. And secondly, had I agreed to the $8,979 I can assure you that had a commercial contract appeared the next day my price would NOT have been reduced to the $5,383. Again, this actually offended my intelligence! In my opinion, Leaf Filter Indianapolis marketing practices are shameful. I did not disclose the name of the young man giving me the quotes as he is only performing as trained. I blame management practices. I've compared several systems and in my opinion Leaf Filter product is superior to the rest. It's just unfortunate that their marketing practices are unethical - again in my opinion. Had I been quoted the $5383 number up front i would have agreed on the spot to have the work done. We've had issues with leaffilter for a couple years now. Correct installation of the filters is supposed to be at 11% slope so the leaves will fall off. If the leaves don't fall off and accumulate on it moisture will eventually work its way back onto your facia. I was told for $95.00 they come out and clean them off for you. Now to be self sufficient I have to climb a ladder again to clean my gutters when we paid so much money not to have to do that again. If I remember right installation was If the needed to be adjusted for the slope of screen that was to be done at installation. Written quote says "completely clean up your (can''t read this) gutters" ... yet, a year later, the outside of the gutters were never touched and they even neglected to fix the sophet which sags below the gutters in the front of the house. They did come back and re-install them -- admitting that they didn't do it right the first time. So buyer beware. From the looks of the lack of responses to the posts, I don't think they care. Finally got an explanation to what was in scope and wasn't, but still had a bad experience with the initial sales rep and even the guy who followed up and discovered that the system was installed incorrectly. "We didn't start reputable, but we will end reputable" . Those are the words of the National level supervisor in one of my post installation nightmare calls. The first installation of our new gutters took 12 hours, drain pipes moved without my approval, and the porch overhang slant changed leaving it looking awful. After another inspection, they fixed the slant I did not want left. They had to take down the gutter and start over. It was determined I needed additional wood put under the gutter in order for it to fit properly. The down spout in question was fixed. However another down spout was moved to "look better" for the front of the house. Well...all Winter I saw rain and melting snow leaking through my overhang. It looked like I had not even replaced the gutters. Since then, I have contacted and contracted a local contractor. Per this reputable contractor, Leaf filter removed my roof drip edge and did NOT replace it! This item is needed for proper drainage. Now I have spent $1000 more in order to protect my property and make this right. I am VERY happy with my honest contractor. Thanks to him I have no more leaks!! Having thought about it I decided to not have them installed immediately. I called them and told them my decision. 2 days later they called and said they could do the job for $4200.00. Again I said no. They later called me and said they would do the job for $2600.00. At that point I told them I would not do business with a company that would have charged me $6200.00 if I had immediately accepted their estimate and then keep dropping the price down to $2600.00. Had filters installed 3 years ago. Now there's a problem with original install and guards are breaking and falling apart. This is June 27 and have been trying to get this fixed since may 31. They came finally came 2days ago and agreed product damaged and took them all off. Was supposed to come today and called and say I didn't get scheduled. So bottom line lifetime warranty is a joke because they put you off and don't return your calls. SO PLEASE I RECOMMEND DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. On 08/09/2023, I contacted LeafFilter Gutter Protection to install their gutter protection system at my house. I was assured by their salesperson their product would prevent clogs and water damage, providing me with peace of mind during heavy rainfall. He said "We have a money back guarantee and we've never had to cut a check." Let me be the first to tell you... that's because they refuse to cut a check. On the date of completion I discovered one of the downspouts connected to the LeafFilter system was severely clogged, resulting in water overflow and subsequent water damage to my basement. This incident not only caused significant financial loss but also resulted in considerable inconvenience and stress. We had someone from Leaf Filter come out and tell us about their gutter. We thought they were good. So we got them installed. They were leaking. I found this out by standing out in the rain and videoing all the way around the house because they wanted us too. So I called them and someone came out and they had to raise all the gutters up higher. So I noticed that the problem still isn't fixed. I recommend doing your research first. read more

It all started with me seeing a TV commercial for LeafFilter. I thought it might be a good addition to my parents' home. I submitted information online and scheduled a free estimate on 7 May. The estimator came, took measurements and then I was called and placed on speakerphone (I live in Los Angeles and was managing the process remotely). I was given an initial quote of $5,150 for 183 linear feet of their product. Way too high for my budget. I asked the estimator what it would cost for just three sections of gutter around my front porch (these gutters receive the most debris and leaves in the fall). He tells me to wait a minute and he recalculates his original quote, coming back with $4,467. He tells me they'll cover the garage gutters for free plus no charge for two four foot gutter sections on the second floor. I tell him that my mom and I won't be making a decision right away and that we'll call him the following day with our answer, as we want to talk it over between ourselves. This is where it got bad. The estimator immediately went into aggressive mode and asked me why I couldn't decide then and there and commit to a payment. I repeated that no decision would be made until we spoke and I assured him I would call with an answer the following day. He said the quote is good for one year. Well, if that's true, then why the pressure to buy and pay right then and there? I ended our conversation and call, waited a bit for him to leave and then called my parents back. I spoke with my mom who told me his original quote was over $8,000 before he got on the phone with me. I told her I was immediately turned off by his high pressure sales tactics. Then I began to research more about LeafFilter online. While the corporate website was all smooth and glossy and boasted of numerous testimonials, Better Business Bureau, and Home Advisor rankings, it all seemed contrived. Digging deeper, I found numerous online complaints lodged against the company (though not the Indianapolis franchise...more on that later). I continued reading online postings and reviews, some of it good, some of it bad. The next morning, I thought I'd see what the local Yelp review said. To my surprise, there was no LeafFilter listed in the metro Indianapolis area, yet the estimator told me they've been in business 15 years. Was that figure nationally or locally? I dug deeper. I found an online post from their main headquarters which read, "LeafFilter enters the Indianapolis market" and is dated August 1, 2019. Those 15 years must mean 'in business nationwide'. Next, I check Facebook to see if they have an account. They do. One post shows a woman in front of her home holding up a LeafFilter sign. Under the photo it shows '10 comments'. Yet when I go to read all 10 comments, there are only two. Someone wrote asking, "How much did it cost?" to which the alleged customer responded cryptically, "I can't tell you. You'll need to call LeafFilter and have an estimator come out..." I find another post with another person asking, "How much per linear foot?". The same response: "I can't tell you that. You'll need to call LeafFilter and arrange for an estimator..." Okay. That did it for me. When a company is censoring its Facebook posts and deleting what must be negative comments and then not being forthcoming as to product cost, I call "scammers" and "deceitful business practices". Why couldn't the two persons say what they paid? Were they forced to sign NDAs?? Is the cost per linear foot a corporate secret? And speaking of 'cost per linear foot', some of the online information and testimonials mentioned cost being "...anywhere from $6 to $15 per linear foot". Why the large discrepancy? Why would the cost fluctuate? Why isn't there a simple, flat answer? With this knowledge and information, I called the estimator in Indianapolis and informed him we no longer desired their product, thanked him for his time, and said if we changed our minds we know the quote is good. Again, he immediately went into aggressive salesman mode and wanted to know why I changed my mind. I repeated myself and ended the call. I called my parents back and told them I had called the estimator and informed him we said no. Flash forward three hours later. I get a call in L.A. from my mom. She tells me she's received five robo calls since I cancelled the request, all from the same number: 330-926-8867. I check the area code it's in Ohio. Guess what company is headquartered in Hudson, Ohio and has the same area code? LeafFilter. I call the number and get a recording saying, "This is John Semalia, Operations Manager for LeafFilter of Indianapolis...." I leave a message telling John he and his company need to cease the harassing robo calls being placed to my parent's home number and that we are no longer interested in their product. Leaf Filter Scam !!! This is a review that I have posted in several locations about Leaf Filter of Indianapolis aka Leaf Filter North LLC. I hired Leaf Filter to install gutter guards on our brand new gutters 10-12-2020. During their sales pitch they will tell you that they add more gutter brackets when they install the filters. Their installation crew used the wrong brackets and damaged every gutter on our house! We had dents in every gutter from either using the wrong brackets of improper ladder use. After notifying their office they sent out an inspector who confirmed the damage by using the wrong brackets and improper use of ladders. Now the issue is they have been dragging out the replacement of our gutters. They just canceled another install appointment today and said something came up, they supposedly scheduled install for next week but this just seems to be another stall tactic. Beware of this company, After reading BBB reviews I'm not sure that this issue will ever be resolved. I would give them a 0 star if I could, If the problem is resolved my attitude might change but at this point I am truly unhappy with this company! 12/ 28 Just an update. As of today all of the gutters have not been fully replaced and still getting a major run around and excuse after excuse. A few weeks ago they sent a subcontracted gutter company out and they replaced only the first story gutters and guards. They said they could not reach the second story without a larger crew and said our pergola was in the way. The pergola was there when the initial install was done and didn't cause issues. This company is has the worst customer service that I have dealt with and I am a contractor. Be very careful with the Indianapolis branch of Leaf Filter! 12/30 The latest in the Leaf filter saga. Leaf Filter North - Indianapolis says that I have to pay my own contractor to replace the gutters that Leaf Filter damaged and they will reimburse me. Seriously! I didn't damage the gutters, they did, and they expect me to pay to replace my new gutters that I previously had installed. There should be zero expense out of my pocket! What kind of company is this that I am dealing with? I have tried to contact corporate and they will not speak with me but keep forwarding everything back to the Indianapolis branch. Definitely having the same complaints as all of the other reviews before me. To be really honest I love the product. The physical gutter guards are doing a great job of preventing Pineneedles and debris in my gutters and downspouts. The lifetime warranty is a joke. They keep sending representatives out to my house without an appointment and "resolve my issue" without me being aware that they were even out. This last time I called because I'm having an issue with a lot of water drainage on one corner of my house. They sent somebody out without letting me know, I caught the guy on my ring doorbell luckily and was able to talk to him and let him know I would like to schedule an appointment and no please don't do any work because I'm not home. 20 minutes later he had a ladder and was on the roof trying to repair. Again me on the ring doorbell talking to him and asking him why he is on my roof when I explicitly told him I was going to make an appointment and had already notified the office I wanted to be home for said appointment. He told me that his manager told him to go ahead and do the work. I informed him once again to not do any work to the house that I own so he left. Two weeks! After this event I come home from work to see the exact work done that the guy was trying to do when I was on my doorbell. By the way the "fix "here was a very large gutter guard that was basically just a 90° piece of metal that is absolutely massive and sticks out 10 inches above my gutter guards and can easily be seen from the street. Needless to say an eyesore and cannot believe this is the only remedy here. So once again somebody came out to my house without an a scheduled appointment and is on a ladder on my roof doing God knows what. I finally got a hold of a manager last week to tell him this whole long story. The manager, Doug, apologized and assured me that he would get this done the correct way and scheduled an appointment for today at 9 AM. At almost 10 AM some random representative again comes out and is completely unaware of my previous issues with the filter or what I was needing done. And it definitely was not the manager. He took pictures of my roof and said he would be in touch again. End of the workday I have not heard from the manager. Seriously do not know what else to do here. We contacted LeafFilter a little over a year ago just wanting to get an idea on prices for our gutters. The guy who came out was great, knew where we stood and understood we didn't want to schedule an installation right away as we needed to think about it and look at all our options. I get a call the other day to redo that free estimate since it's only good for a year, alright cool that's fine, let's do that. We get a time scheduled and another salesman from LeafFilter arrives, Shawn Syre if I recall, nice at first, showed me the product and asked if he could do a demo. Sure, why not, the guy who came before didn't show us that so it would be good to see an example. First and second red flag was when he was getting irritated that my wife didn't want to join us. As a note, she always just lets me handle the estimates and getting all the information when she doesn't feel the need to be there unless we both agreed this is something we're going to do right away but if we're just needing an estimate on what the numbers are, she doesn't feel the need to be there. Third red flag, I try to explain that but he cuts me off explaining some BS about her not being around and being a waste of his time if I'm just gonna talk to her later and not make a sale. Okay, whatever. I immediately tell him we are not interested in scheduling a service we just want the price of it and to be on our way. Fourth red flag, he brushes me off again and continues onto more BS about how the low quality of all other products and why LeafFilter trumps them. At this point it's been an hour and a half of going back and forth with him still going on about their product and me trying to tell him nicely as I can that we are not looking to make a sale we just want a quote and that's it. My wife comes out eventually sees me visibly annoyed that this guy won't leave and also proceeds to tell him as well that we are not looking for a sale and he needs to leave. But instead of being a professional he argues back that he "is trying to save our house" and "she needs to understand why we should go with them". He finally left after we told him to leave for the 10th time but at the damn door makes a snarky remark to me about my wife and why we should still go through them. That is absolutely not okay and someone like that should not be working as a salesman and going door to door with that attitude and think this is what a professional is. I completely understand being a salesman needing to do their jobs and make their daily quota but I don't give two shits how long you've been working for this company or as a handyman in the passed but when you become a bully and try to push a sale on someone who is clearly not interested and argue back with them, that is seriously inappropriate and inconsiderate of the people who you are in THEIR house with. LeafFilter needs to seriously think about retraining their people on how to be a good salesman, and not be like this jackass who thought he could bully us into a sale after the first time we said no.
