Bone Dry Roofing - Bad Decking Repair in Indianapolis, Indiana!

    Bone Dry Roofing

We had Bone Dry out to work on our chimney - tuck pointing, lining the interior, and installing a…read morestainless vent for our water heater. We're an hour away, and I had been trying to get local chimney sweeps and masons to come deal with our house for years. I'd get an estimate, and then no one would follow up. Bone Dry showed up when they said they would, did what they said they would do, were respectful to my house, property, and people, and cleaned up after they left. We had three different crews come through to address each phase of the work, and everyone was professional, friendly, and communicative. There were a couple of small bumps, but they handled them professionally and quickly. I was, all in all, very pleased with their performance. I'm a building professional myself, and very much appreciate what they do. They're good people, and did a very good job for me. Pricing was reasonable '(this stuff is expensive - brace yourself, but these guys don't overcharge) I'd hire them again without a second thought.

Followed up a few years later by issues where moisture was entering our house through an access point and causing damage to our ceiling. They took partial blame for the situation and repaired things with partial charges. Most recently after a storm, they checked my roof and determined it was OK, but a rake board had come loose and the sales rep showed me a video verifying the need for repair. I consented. When they came to do the repair, it wound up being a simple 'nail back in place job', which was not what all I thought it would necessarily be. Combined with a single loose piece of siding that was also nailed back into place, I was charged $665 for a 10-15 minute job that required basically no materials. When I shared my concern that I felt the charge was excessive for the work performed, I was basically dismissed and charged the full amount. I realize I signed the contract, I simply didn't think the job warranted the full charge. I appreciate they got on a ladder and did work I wasn't comfortable or knowledgable enough to do, and felt a slightly lesser charge seemed to make sense for what they did. Guess I will look elsewhere for future jobs after the lack of understanding to work with me.

I recently had gutter work done through LeafFilter, facilitated by Lowe's. The initial interaction…read morewas a bit sales-heavy, with an emphasis on having all decision-makers present, which felt more like a sales tactic than a necessity. The appointment for an estimate was scheduled via my phone while at Lowes. And that was fine but they did collect my information at two different points. In the days after scheduling I received several no-reply texts about confirming the appointment. But when a conflict arose, re-scheduling the estimate was challenging. I had to go through a long chain of people on the phone before finally reaching someone who could help. Once I finally got the right person to help me, the appointment was rescheduled. On the day of the appointment, the salesperson arrived on time and was professional. The estimate seemed reasonable, though it was the only one I solicited, and I have no prior experience with gutter work to compare. The crew arrived the following day, but unfortunately, they brought the wrong color materials. The foreman immediately brought it to my attention and after discussing the issue, I selected a new color. The foreman told me someone from LeafFilter would call to reschedule. The problem was, I never received that call. The next morning, the same crew member reached out to me via text asking if I had been contacted yet. I quickly realized he was parked out front, so we decided to go ahead and complete the work that day. The crew worked hard and did a great job. They were very friendly and professional, and I was able to use their saw horses to spray-paint the visible fascia boards, which I appreciated. In the end, the new fascia boards and gutter are installed properly, with a good slope for drainage and a color match that turned out pretty good, considering the original color was sun-faded. The wife was happy with it, so happy life. The only downside was a few small gutter scraps left in a rock bed, but they were pretty hard to spot in that area and I would expect I might find a couple little things after a job like this. To sum it up: while the crew from Gutter Vet (a contractor, not employees of LeafFilter) did a great job, LeafFilter's sales approach felt a bit pushy and their rescheduling process was challenging. I would have appreciated the ability to reply to the texts to reschedule. That said, the work itself was solid, completed quickly, and the crew Leaf Filter connected me with did their best to ensure everything was completed to my satisfaction.

That was a week ago and I have been berated with more calls and texts than any other company I've ever given my information to. I work in sales and understand how lead generation works. I will not work with this company. Any company that uses a strategy like this is not in customer service, they're in sales and I don't want to work with a company that thinks this is acceptable.

The spiel was that they have the best installers, the best product, the best Customer Service etc etc etc. I have since seen online that they totally rip people off with shoddy installation and wrong size windows, siding, doors, etc I was expecting new siding and gutters maybe $5000 or $6,000. The guy looked me right in the eye and quoted me a price of $67,000. YES $67,000!!! I almost became instantaneously incontinent right in my easy chair. You could purchase a new mobile home for that. I looked over at my wife when he said $67,000 and she looked deathly pale. The room started to spin....$67,000!!! He kept pressuring me to sign a contract right away. Over and over he wanted my signature and said this was just a quote not a contract. He kept on wanting my signature. I am so glad I said no because I read online reviews after he left and I found out that it was a standard practice of their sales people to trick and deceive people into signing a "quote" whereby they are on the hook for THOUSANDS of $$$$ Please folks PLEASE for your own good STAY Away from these people.
