From the first conversation with the representative when I called, I knew I was in good hands. The conversation was calm, every step was explained, emails and communication was fluid thru moving day. The truck was much bigger than I was expecting as well as the ramp placement at the side of the truck vs the rear which made me nervous, but luckily we were able to make it work in my apartment complex. Sully and Kenan were friendly and understanding overall. Asked questions along the way as needed, and took some of the stress away from what typically comes with a moving day (especially when it comes to this being my first time moving things into a storage unit). I do have to note that the move may have finished sooner had one movers not been out of commission by his lunch choice longer than expected... Also, seeing the feet of my couch during the move has me a bit nervous about how they'll look when I remove my furniture from the unit. From a few feet away when I saw them on the cargo elevator and being placed into the unit, they seemed like they were angled and scratched a bit from positioning during transport. The email after my move stated that I can inform them if I notice any damages, whenever it may be, so I'll have to do a thorough check when I next access or move-out of the unit. Other than that, I would for sure use them again, possibly even for when it's time for that move-out. Unfortunately, my TV was damaged during the move (unclear if it was from the POD, but I doubt that since the TV was against the king size mattress). One of the movers later stated that he had noticed damage to the TV box when he unloaded the tv from POD but did not bring it to my attention at the time, which was very disappointing. However, the owner Joey, took the situation seriously and handled it with genuine empathy and accountability. I was extremely frustrated from the move (it's really a lot to handle) and Joey was kind and patient as he listed to me explain what happened. He suspended the team member involved, made it clear that he wanted to put the customer first, and worked with me to make things right. After I provided the original receipt for my TV, he sent me a check for its full original purchase price and did not waste time to go through insurance. I didn't buy additional insurance, so at most if Joey had went through insurance, I would have received $40/$50 back for my tv at $0.60/lb. He said he wanted to make sure we reached an agreement that felt fair. I truly appreciate Joey's customer first mindset. Although the damage was frustrating, I greatly appreciated how Joey responded. He's been in business for 25 years and stated that accidents happen and what he cares for the most is customer satisfaction. His integrity, compassion, and willingness to stand behind his company ultimately left me with a positive impression. Workflow: - straightforward online form instead of trying to make a phone call during business hours while at work - email confirmation right after submitting form and again two days prior to the move - as described in their email, on the morning of, I received a phone call within an hour before, informing me that they were on the way - they arrived just before the scheduled time (I was their first move of the day) - I had packed the things I wanted them to move in advance, so I showed them the piles of things I wanted them to move - we signed the contract (all the things I expected + insurance option, with the default basic option as a price per weight reimbursement for any damaged items) - without even having to say much to each other they knew where to start - wrapped all the big furniture in blankets and duct tape - couch cushions were temporarily a little squished as they do during a move, but there were no damages to anything - after the move, I verified that everything had been moved and signed the post-move part of the contract Pros: - perfect workflow for a zellenial who's used to ordering things online and they magically appear - the team understood that my goal was to stay within the 3h, told me it was definitely reasonable, and were ultimately able to accomplish it - paid in cash and exactly as quoted (minus the $75 deposit) with no surprise fees and no extra charge for supplies or gas or stairs

We requested a crew of three movers, but they showed up with four. One of the crew members appeared to be very young and inexperienced, possibly under 17. Instead of helping move items efficiently, he spent a long time trying to dismantle a crib with a screwdriver. I politely suggested that they simply move the crib without taking it apart, since it would save time. Apparently, he didn't appreciate the suggestion and went to speak with the crew leader. To my surprise, the entire crew stopped working and refused to continue until I left my daughter's house. They claimed it was because of "liability," but they couldn't clearly explain what liability they were referring to. We ended up losing about 45 minutes before they finally resumed the move. The entire experience was very unprofessional. Before the job started, everyone was friendly, but once they began working, the pace was extremely slow. It often felt like they were moving one small item at a time instead of working efficiently. A four-person crew took nearly the entire day to move the contents of a four-bedroom house less than a mile away. Based on our experience, I cannot recommend Step-by-Step Moving & Delivery. For some reason, this time I was assigned movers who seemed to have absolutely no sense of urgency. They moved extremely slowly throughout the entire process, to the point that even the leasing agent on the 1st flr commented on how long they were holding up the elevator and potentially damaging it by just having it ait idle and open. Even after that, there still didn't seem to be any urgency to move things along. What was especially frustrating was that instead of one person going downstairs to grab the next item while the other continued working, they seemed to insist on waiting for their partner before going back down. Then they left the dresser just siting outside instead of bringing it in ehich added more time instead of just doing it the first time. My bf was helping some as well because we had to hurry things along. There were several moments where the process could have been much more efficient, but they simply lacked the urgency and teamwork I had experienced with this company previously. The biggest disappointment is that I KNOW what good service from this company looks like. The first two times I used them, I had the same two movers, and they were absolutely amazing, efficient, professional, and constantly moving. If I had those same movers again, I would gladly pay the price because the service was worth it. Unfortunately, these last two movers completely changed my opinion of the company. It's not even about the price. I would rather pay more for good service than pay less and watch a move drag on because there is a lack of urgency. My advice to anyone using this company: take pictures and videos throughout your move, especially when you notice things that appear inefficient or careless. This was my third time using their service to move a 1B1B apartment. The first two times went fine…read more-- each took about 3 to 3.5 hours, and that's why I trusted them again. But this time? Total disaster. They charged me almost 8 HOURS for the exact same size move. From 9 AM to 4:45 PM -- are you kidding me? They didn't even start moving until around 9:20 or 9:30, and then moved like they were taking a casual stroll in the park. I asked them why this time was so ridiculously slow compared to the last two. Their excuse? "No elevator" at my old place and "your stuff is in small boxes and bags." That is complete nonsense. My new place has an elevator, and I used larger boxes this time to make it easier -- unlike the last move where neither location had elevators. And yet, that move only took 3.5 hours. There is no possible reason this one should take nearly EIGHT HOURS unless you're deliberately dragging your feet. And get this -- I even helped them move! I literally carried stuff myself while they moved slowly and inefficiently. When I brought this up to their supervisor, instead of acknowledging the poor service, he blamed me and said I had "too many things." Give me a break. It's a 1B1B -- and you guys have moved it twice before in half the time! I even attached a photo comparing the invoices from both moves -- one was 3.5 hours, this one nearly 8. Their supervisor had the audacity to say he'd refund me for 1 hour if I didn't leave a bad review -- that tells you everything you need to know. He knew it was shady but just wanted to shut me up. Avoid Leader Movers at all costs. They've clearly gotten lazy and greedy -- working slow just to pad the bill while pretending everything is normal. I'm furious and disappointed. Never again.
