Alamo
Hailey L.

There was not a line at 11am and I was surprised! I was greeted by the staff and asked for their suggestion. They said Alamo bowl, so I went with it. It was soooo good! I ate every bite! It has kale, rice, black beans, avocado, red onions, crisp, grilled chicken, tomato's and a spicy sauce! Super impressed. Also, they put the orders next to the door...so, next time I may opt for that in case it does get busy.

MFH Veggie Boost with falafel

My favorite spot for a salad bowl! It is located downtown in The Park Shops, so it's easily accessible from the tunnel. What makes Leaf & Grain stand out is the consistent quality - it is delicious every time. My usual order is the MFH Veggie Boost, which comes with shredded kale, roasted sweet potatoes, roasted Brussels sprouts, roasted broccoli, parmesan, roasted pepitas, and dried cranberries, and it's served with the citrus vinaigrette. The only modification I typically make is adding chicken, but other than that it's perfect exactly as it comes. I have also tried adding the falafel which is good as well. They do a great job at giving a good amount of toppings vs. just filling the bowl with kale/the base and having a few things sprinkled on top. If you're making your own, the roasted sweet potatoes, roasted Brussels sprouts, and dried cranberries are especially good. I highly recommend coming by the next time you're looking for a high quality salad!

Located on 3rd floor of the Shops at Houston Center, this place is my go to healthy option for work day lunches. Their ingredients are fresh and the flavor combinations are great. There are no bad choices on the menu, but my personal favorite is the Alamo. Their service is pretty quick, but there is normally a line during lunch hour. You can order ahead on their website to save you some time.

You can't compare this joint to a Salata and avoid insulting Salata - the food quality and customer service experience here beats every Salata ever from every single location they ever have had and ever will have. That's why there is such a line here! Nobody goes to Salata on the third floor of the Park Shops with this as an option on the fourth floor. The 44 Farms Steak Salad caught my eye on the menu long ago (Eric C.'s four star review mentions steak added to a bowl which made me look further into the menu) but the line shooting out the door into the Park Shops scared me off, until finally the one day a week I get to have lunch away from my desk coincided with a day it was pouring outside so I was limited to tunnel or skybridge accessibles - and this fit the bill with a salad type experience, since my suit was starting to feel a bit tight around the tequila protector regions, but I still wanted steak flavours to season and moisten the rabbit food part of the salad. I had a long time wait in line since the line had wrapped along the wall and out the front of the store when I briskly sashayed over and joined it. So with my time in line I thought about other options on the menu besides the 44 Farms Steak Salad. Charging 75 cents extra for blue cheese as an add on to a Cobb salad that is already $10.25 sans blue cheese? Thank u, next. The steak salad meanwhile came with blue cheese, one of the many fine cheeses the gentlesir favours in his soyboy salads apart from the Armenian string cheese only available at the Phoenicia salad bar. Elisa was sweet once it was finally my time to shine/order. I had been there at the head of the line for a few minutes already while everyone else was busy making other bowls or whatev. She changed her gloves and swooped in to make the magick happen. Sweet and polite always goes a long way in lunch counter service, especially determining which ones you would visit again like this one, and which one you still have a grudge against twelve years on like Doozo. While you can customize salad/bowls as you see fit, they also have the pre-set ones like the Cobb and the steak salad. They also recommend the light or the medium portion of salad dressing you can request, and they only break down calorie count on the pre-set menu items with either light or medium dose of sauce. I went with the medium dose of the horseradish vinaigrette because most of the fellas in front of me had gone for medium, so they must have known something I did not. The medium saucing turned out to be just right to coat the salad but not leaving behind a ton of residue once you completed the salad. Pros: large helping of steak in the 44 Farms steak salad, the steak is beautiful, quality ingredients, and made with love when Elisa makes your salad. Cons: line out the door, line moves slow, why are we still waiting for a salad when I could be eating a quickly obtained fast food hamberder whilst watching Rick & Morty already??? Salads can be nice, right? A nice salad like this used to be $15 at Georgia's before that turned into the Local Foods, but the line was much less at Georgia's (and hence probably why it turned into the Local Foods) but I am not a patient person and I notoriously do not wait very well. Some reviews say the line moves quick and that is a matter of opinion, from the part of the line starting INSIDE the store it was round 15 minutes left until leaving time with the salad tucked into the tender crook of your elbow - or 0.3 as lawyers and Thai ladyboys in motels out by the airport who both bill in six minute increments are more familiar with in timekeeping. For an $11+ salad with tax this still merits repeat visits on days when (a) the line is not as #extra as it can be sometimes dramatically spilling out the storefront onto the fourth floor of the Park Shops and (b) the weather vs suede shoes conundrum has limited you to skybridge/tunnel accessibles.

I really like Leaf & Grain, but our office ordered their sandwich box lunches and their Turkey sandwich literally had one slice of Turkey. Come on, L & G...I'm sure at $15 per box, you can afford to put in another slice. 5x more bread than meat. Disappointed.

Much better than Salata. Prob, the best salad place bowl place ever. I usually don't get salad but out of all the healthy salad places, this place is my favorite. Also, it gets you to be really full. I loved both of items that I got. Get the one with hummus, I think it just makes the salad way more enjoyable. I think this is the only time I couldn't finish a salad and was able to save it for later. Follow me on Instagram @willeatfood

I can absolutely see why they're ranked among the top 10 pizzas in Texas. I know pepperoni pizza is about as basic as it gets, but when it's done right, it's hard to beat. The dough is crispy on the outside while still being soft and chewy on the inside, and I think that's what really makes their pizza stand out. I genuinely have no notes. We also ordered the Nutella and custard dessert pizza, which was fantastic. It was the perfect sweet treat to end the meal, and the dough was just as good on the dessert pizza as it was on the savory one. My only complaint is that the kitchen closes at 10 PM. Honestly, pizza this good should be available a little later! Overall, Gypsy Poet absolutely lives up to the hype. Great pizza, great dough, and a dessert pizza worth saving room for. I ordered the Chimichurri Steak sandwich, which was okay but nothing super memorable in my opinion. My parents ordered the Seasonal GOAT with Summer Peaches salad, which was also just okay. My sister, however, ordered the Lemon Chicken and Farro soup, which was actually pretty yummy and is something I would definitely order for myself. In terms of parking, there's plenty of spots available throughout the MKT area, but you may need to park farther away to snag a spot. Overall, if you're in the mood for a healthier sandwich or salad option and are in the MKT area, this place is worth trying. Maybe I'll come back and try something new.

He was incredibly friendly and working hard, but because he seemed to be juggling so much on his own, service was on the slower side. For the appetizer, we ordered the Crispy Fried Oysters & Brussels, and I got the redfish for my entrée. The Brussels sprouts were flash-fried perfectly, and I loved the sweetness of the chili honey glaze. The oysters had a nice crispy coating, but I found them to be a little bland. The redfish, though, was absolutely the star of the meal. I cleaned my plate. It was served with Hoppin' John and a lemon butter sauce. I had never heard of Hoppin' John before, but it's essentially a Southern rice-and-bean dish, and paired with that lemon butter, it was so flavorful. It complemented the fish perfectly.

Delicious authentic Lebanese food, Genuine hospitality, great ambiance…read more Abdallah's Lebanese Caffe delivers one of the most authentic and memorable Lebanese dining experiences in Houston. The kitchen excels from the very first course: the kibbe is exceptional, perfectly balanced, delicately textured, and arguably the finest I've ever had. The standout, however, is the lamb chops, prepared so beautifully that even my wife, who rarely enjoys lamb, was genuinely impressed. I love high quality ingredients and feel like they go a long way. But even more I feel like knowing what to do with ingredients go even further. I hate buying high quality ingredients meals where the chef did little to enhance the food. Not at all the case here. EVERY dish you order while have the chef's handprint on it and I F'n LOVE IT!! I've enjoyed ChopnBlok since I first tried it at POST Houston but I'll leave this review to focus on the Montrose location. Now come on this review journey with me! I had been meaning to come here for a minute but had never gotten around to it and the first time I did was when a friend told me about "Parlay on the Blok", which is a block party series they do and this one they had collabed with The Breakfast Klub!!! So combining with one of the places that is already one of my top spots in the city plus good vibes I had to pull up. It was popping there so was a thing to get a spot and get that order in but I'm glad I did. Beyond the fact that it was a good vibe for the culture and the community out there. The food hit! We got there late for the block party so some items had ran out and honestly it was for the best because I would've ended up buying some of everything they were offering. I got the Wings & Rice and the Malt Short Ribs and Grits. The first was The Breakfast Klub's wings with Afro brunch fried rice. The second came with a dòdò pepper relish with a malt demi-glaze. Boy oh boy! Already knew the wings was going to hit and the fried rice paired really well with it. The short rib was so damn tender and the relish and glaze just....just give me some more! Both of them are dishes I would order again if they were on a constant menu. As someone who doesn't eat pork, I love that this is a spot that I can count on putting out delicious food packed with flavor and know they have not a lick of pork on the menu. Now for their regular menu items lol. I was in the area so I popped in for their happy hour and of course they delivered. Love that they have the community tables, which allows for people to get a table as a walk up but not at the bar. It also creates a special space to connect with strangers, as you can be sat across the table from someone you've never met as you both enjoy deliciousness. If you haven't noticed yet I love this place and will basically only have good things to say, and it all comes from the most honest space. Happy hour offers some of their main dishes just in smaller portions. I started off with the Suya and Cheese patties and I honestly have a hard time imagining me coming here and not ordering these. From the flaky breading to the meat and cheese inside it does everything it's supposed to. I also got the Golden bowl and every bit of it was delicious. You can give me a side of the Jollof Jambalaya everyday and I'd be good. I'm usually not for alcohol with my food but was in the mood for a cocktail and I wasn't sure on the Irie Punch and my waitress brought me and shot of Irie Punch that I quickly ordered after tasting. The Deviled Scotch Egg is suck your teeth and fingers good. It's so damn good that I literally had some of the greens they sit on and thought it was the egg filling on it just to realize it was the dressing they had on it. I was sucking the damn mini salad off my fingers it was so good. For the greens and dressings, which are just garnish for the egg, to be that good is truly ridiculous. I got a side of the Waakye Fried Rice not realizing it is a black rice dish, but even that was still good. Chef Ope Amosu does not miss with a single dish served. They have been Michelin recognized and I honestly think it is beyond well deserved. Not quit reading my review and figure out why I love this place for yourself.
