So I thought I'd update the reviews since most are many years old. My friend and I are here for a week and set out to shop at Le Bon Marche. Got pooped out and no rsv planned so we came upon this bistro in yelp and boy was it wonderful! The host was very welcoming, our waiter (?Alex) basically served the whole restaurant with the host and they were excellent! Alex gave us fantastic recommendations and the wine of the day, the red he suggested and dessert was bomb!! The escargot was great, charcuterie plate was generous and tasty esp with the bread! Wish it was closer to our hotel- I'd go again if it was!!! Didn't disappoint at all! You could tell there were some regular local patrons. Other popular dishes other folks were ordering included beef tartare and a big salad with ham and a big egg on top. What a gem! read more

We went expecting the usual meat and fries with every course. However, their daily specials from main course to desert was surprisingly good and different from the surrounding restaurants. Can't wait to go back to Paris to try them again. read more

Boo Boo and I dined here for dinner after spending the day looking at art at D'orsay museum. I got the bone marrow, a glass of wine, and steak and fries. Boo boo got the risotto. Just another typical French bistro place. The food was good and the decor was really French. The waiter was welcoming and we didn't get ripped off. read more

Had a quiet Sunday diner. Service was a bit spotty, though the food was good. Had the occasional mouse running across the floor.

I am completely distraught. I was searching for a nice steak Paris after I found out Le Relais de L' Entrecôte was closed on Saturdays. We were searching around yelp and figured we would give this place a try with a hopeful mindset. That completely changed when I took my first bite. Looks can and ARE deceiving here. You may think this doesn't look too bad but it was the thinnest, most distasteful steak I have ever bitten into, in my life. Not only was it overcooked of our preference, but the steak in general could be compared to some $5 that could be bought across the street. I would never recommend someone to come here for the steak and hope you choose somewhere else for your steak-frites craving.Regardless, the staff were nice. I recommend The Butcher of Paris for the best steak of your life. Good service, good steak, good wine. read more

After a long day of walking around, we had no clue where to eat and Le Rousseau was close by, so we stopped in for a quick bite. We tried their gazpacho, steak frites and the ribeye. Everything was ok. I don't think we agreed with how our dishes were seasoned and our server would disappear every so often and even didn't receive a coffee that we ordered. Our server was super nice, just not around. Le Rousseau's main clientele are people from the neighborhood and I'm sure they're all quite satisfied and very happy with the food quality and service they receive here, it just wasn't for us. read more

There's way to many places in Paris to eat and you certainly can't do them all but if you're in the neighbourhood take a glance inside and you'll fall in love. From the warm colors to the velvet textured booths and chairs everything is so inviting and cozy. The decorations were carefully chosen to make you feel at home. The service is impeccable from the friendly and well knowledge staff to the chefs in the back who don't miss a beat. English or French they have menus to please both. You have a variety of appetizers I would recommend the avocado with shrimp it's in a thousand island sauce and it's delicious. The charcuterie plate is large but well worth it. Ranging from a homemade chicken pate to delicious ham you're sure to have a great meal. Both the duck plates we got were exceptional and made with love. The plate work showed they really love what they're doing and that makes all the difference. read more

Absolutely delicious! I stopped by Le Rousseau for dinner by myself after a long afternoon of shopping. The staff was very welcoming and it was not awkward at all to sit by myself and have dinner. I had a glass of the Medoc (very nice), the escargot (briny, buttery, and so tasty) and the canard with béarnaise sauce and potatoes (wow!) I can't possibly give no less than 5 stars to this place, everything we had was beyond of our expectations!! If you happened to be in this area of Paris, you must come to this place!!!! The food is amazing, the restaurant is the classic french neighborhood dining, you really feel at home. The Steak tartar and the Curry Salmon are to die for!! But the Duck with cranberries is something out of this world. MUST visit this place!!! read more

This is probably a good restaurant. I had their steak tartar and a nice red. My wife had a salad and both were fine. My only complaint was a slight lack of attention from the staff. Perhaps it's old hat to serve tourists in Paris but you still want to eat at a place that actually wants you there. Nevertheless I do recommend it and it's quite nice inside with a plush red interior. read more

Wonderful, authentic French Restaurant close to Le Bon Marché. Lots of locals along with tourists, and they will give you an English language menu. Nice choice of wines and sizes. We had two salads, both delicious and full of different ingredients. Mine had some smoked duck slices along with warm potato bits and foie gras. Seating options are great... there are outdoor rambles, some inside that are open air to the outside, and then a library styled back room. Waiters were good and could communicate in English. Steak tartare and grilled ribeyes near us disappeared as happy guests ate them. And everyone had the pomme frites! read more

Being from Hawaii I was excited to have a meal in Paris. We ordered a cheese platter, a chicken Caesar salad, a crispy roasted duck and a fish dish. All of the food came at once. It was a lot of food and in Paris it is not typical to take out leftovers. The food was good but I was hoping for WOW! the cheese platter was very good and had a generous amount on the platter. I enjoyed the Caesar salad. The duck was ok. We thought we were getting a filet of fish but we got the entire fish. The fish was bland but had a nice texture. A sprinkling is salt fixed that. The people that work in the restaurant were very nice. Our waiter didn't speak English but the owner did. Overall it was a great experience. read more

Hidden gem. I have lunch here every time I'm in Paris. They serve the best grilled fish I've had anywhere. It's either a whole Dorade or whole Sea bass depending on the day. Their fish soup is also good. Sidewalk and indoor seating. Price is reasonable. Service is good, not a long wait for food. One of my favorite places in Paris. read more

We were staying at a hotel near Le Bon Marche when I searched Yelp for a good place to eat. The Rousseau sounded like a good bet so we decided to try it. Everything we tried was superb. We split a foie gras for appetizer. Tried a cod carpaccio (something I'd never had before) which was delicious with the best frites in our 3 week stay in France. My wife had a confit de canard which was excellent but had a Provençal sauce which she thought was too much. Our waiter recommended excellent wines to pair with our entrees and reconfigured a dessert to our liking. Would definitely go back. read more

So disappointed in all the food here. They were out of the grilled bass that my husband wanted to order so the waitress recommended the gilt-head bream. Well that fish was terrible. It was cooked whole with all the bones in it and had absolutely no flavor whatsoever. And the potatoes that came with it were hard. I had the duck and it was so chewy and not very good. Not entirely sure what the fuss is about in other reviews. The food was respectable and the service welcoming, but nothing out of this world. Plenty of other places in the area. However, it is a good option in an area where restaurants are either prohibitively expensive or very touristic. Classic french options with a wide ranging menu. read more

The food was okay. The service was friendly and welcoming. We don't speak any French and have two little ones, English ordering was fine but we got ripped off by ordering "regular water". They charged us €8.5 a bottle. So watch out for that. While friendly but they did took advantage of us for being tourist. read more

This was our first meal in Paris, picked randomly since the kids were hungry and we could not find the restaurant recommended to us. We ordered hanger steaks and a ribsteak..both medium and medium rare for one of the hanger. All the steaks were cooked to well done and in particular the ribsteak was completely charred. Sauce on the steaks were nondescript, bordering on sweet. I would avoid this place, a very disappointing meal and expensive considering the quality. read more

I did not know what to expect at Le Rousseau and was very pleasantly surprised. I had one of the best steaks au poivre I have had in Paris, exceptionally good quality beef, and my husband's fish was excellent as well. Good snails, dessert, a lovely décor, and very friendly service. I highly recommend this restaurant. Their menu is very traditional and not extensive but everything was very well prepared. We came here for dinner one of our first nights in Paris. Pleasantly greeted by our waiter who spoke English. We started off with a nice bottle of white wine and the cheese plate.
