I really hesitated writing this review because, at first, it wasn't a terrible experience. I chose this salon based on the many positive Yelp and Google reviews and was genuinely looking forward to a self-care day date with my girlfriend. Unfortunately, the experience started off a bit off-putting. When we arrived, the person at the front counter asked, "You have an appointment, right?" in a way that made it feel like she thought we might have walked into the wrong salon. I gave my name and appointment time and went to the restroom, but she never asked my girlfriend if she had an appointment. It felt awkward and unwelcoming. After sitting down, I wasn't offered an espresso. I know that seems small, but it was something repeatedly mentioned in reviews and part of the experience I was excited about, especially given the price point. My stylist was kind and asked what I wanted. I explained, though in hindsight I wish I had brought photos, as others have mentioned being encouraged to do. My hair was cut dry due to my very curly texture, and initially it looked close to what I wanted. The shampoo and head massage were honestly the best part of the entire visit. The massage chair, however, wasn't great, the settings were too low which took away from the relaxation. As for styling, I expected something I could wear day-to-day. Instead, my hair was twisted and styled in a way that felt very "high school prom" rather than practical or reflective of my usual look. I left feeling like my stylist may not have had much experience with curls as tight as mine, despite the salon advertising Rezo-licensed stylists , which was a major reason I chose this salon after a lot of searching. My girlfriend's experience was also disappointing. She has straight-to-wavy hair, and her haircut was no better than what she's received at Supercuts. In fact, her last Supercuts cut had more flattering layers that framed her face beautifully. To top it off, when we declined to schedule a future appointment, the staff member helping us chuckled, which felt dismissive. I really wanted to love this place, especially given the cost and the hype, but overall we left feeling disappointed. read more

Went to Le Monde Salon for my first time this past Friday and saw Cristi. She listened to what I wanted for my hair, and delivered perfectly, all while being professional, knowledgeable, & genuinely kind throughout the cut. I was nervous 'cause I've had horrible experiences with salons in the past, but I'm really glad I decided to see Cristi here. I'd say the only draw back is the price- I paid roughly $140 (excluding tip) for a wash & cut, but Cristi literally revived my hair so I guess it was worth that price. Plus, I was able to book a same day appointment, I was given a drink and a cute little chocolate when I arrived early, and it was a very clean and modern place. Really happy with my experience here! Le Monde is a calm salon and I was offered the option of coffee or tea upon arriving! All of the staff were friendly and welcoming. The facility is simple and very clean! I booked my hair cut with Lena (who specializes in curls) and I hadn't had a haircut in over a year. My curls were weighed down, clumped together, and I had no volume. I asked for face framing and layers while still maintaining my length. Lena did an exceptional job separating my curls then dry cutting my hair! Cristi was the first and only stylist to tell me that I shouldn't be bleaching my hair every appointment! The first time I saw her, I came in wanting to freshen up my color and asked for bleach because that was what I always did with previous stylists. Even though that was what I thought I needed, she informed me that bleach actually wasn't needed. That and my hair color lasting longer made me come back to her chair. This review is long overdue but since it's almost time for my routine curly cut it reminds me to make this review. I chose Carmen since she has hair similar to my wavy hair. I'm glad I did because she cuts my hair exactly the way I want! When I first sat they asked if I wanted an espresso to which I said yes and they also gave me a ferrero rocher - yum! Carmen is so warm and welcoming and we had great conversation while she cut and styled my hair - I heart her so much. She does a dry cut first with layers that I ask for before I got my hair washed. It is a luxury experience where another woman Sarah who was also super sweet washed my hair while in a massage chair and she also massaged my scalp. Afterwards, I sat back in the style chair with Carmen so she could make a few more cuts while my hair was wet. Then she puts these amazing smelling products in my hair and diffuses my hair in different positions. Then voilà amazing results! I do always wear my hair with the same side part so I just have her adjust the length on some of the face-framing pieces and then perfection. Curly cuts are always more expensive because of the technique and training they have but it is well worth the cost to me particularly since they actually know how to cut curly/wavy hair. I'm always cautious when I go to a new place because my hair is important to me and I don't want someone hacking away at my hair without the skills necessary to do it right and especially with how much curly cuts cost. I've been going a couple years now and I trust Carmen completely. If you can afford to splurge on a beautiful haircut just know you are in good hands here! read more

The staff here are talented and the salon itself is impeccably chic but low key and very nice. This salon does not have the snootiness of other places and you get great service. On a recent trip I did a basic cut which included a nice hair wash in their high tech massage chair. You are given a black robe to change into in a cute dressing room. Everything is sooo clean, smelling of shampoo and the space is roomy with staff spread out. The stylists all seem to have years of experience and are very friendly, smiling and engaging. The attitude matters when you go to a new place to pamper and spend your hard earned money. The more senior your stylist, the pricier the services. Came here off of a recommendation from a dear friend. They are located in Kakaako next to Indochino. It is a very nice sleek and modern salon, with spaced out chairs. The owner, Jovan did my hair. I was offered water or tea as I waited for him to finish with his client. The staff were very friendly. He looked at my hair and made recommendations based off of the condition of my hair. The goal -to get my hair healthy again and repair the damage from all the blond highlights I got in the past. I initially wanted balayage but he said we should redo my base all one color and tone the blond and next time he will take a look at my hair and then maybe we can do balayage. He also cut my hair in nice layers. They have an awesome massage chair as you get your hair washed. It is super relaxing! He also includes treatments in all his color. Mitch wasn't there which is who my friend said was amazing for the scalp massage and wash. I will get her next time. Jovan did a wonderful job with the scalp massage and wash. I came in for a cut and highlights. Admittedly, I had sticker shock when I saw my bill. But did I go back? Yes, yes, I did. First, I love working with Lena. She's meticulous and does a fantastic job on my hair, which is naturally curly. Then, there's my spa day experience. As I sit in the massage chair, while my hair is being washed and rinsed, ah...that's relaxation! Finally, I enjoy the environment. This salon is beautifully decorated with modern decor and full of glamour. The location is so convenient in the trendy Kakaako neighborhood. The staff are friendly and efficient. I haven't had a cut since the start of the pandemic and I'm so glad that Le Monde was able to give my hair the much needed refresh. I was itching for a summer cut with color to brighten me up and they were able to accomplish all the things I asked and go above and beyond. Jovan is incredibly talented as well as Juanita. They are incredibly skilled in balayage techniques that look so light and natural. My hair was precisely cut and flawless. Le Monde was highly recommended to me by a dear friend, so having some time during the holidays, I flew in from San Francisco to enjoy Honolulu but also to experience highly recommended Le Monde beautification. And boy, did I not regret it! My review is solely based on the artist's performance as I do not fall easily for the luxury appeal of the provided services (which also rank very high in this case). However, let me start by saying that the cleanliness and Covid measures maintained by the stuff are top notch! When it comes to shaping a hairstyle that identifies me as a person of multicultural background, I believe I have experienced the best stylist there is. Jovan's friendly (and handsome :) ) appearance allows expressing my inner style, that he is extremely good at reading and projecting back.
