Display case of all gluten-free pastries

While visiting Montreal this week and staying in the Plateau Mont Royal area, my wife and I have gone out everyday walking to different areas of town. After enjoying the pedestrian-friendly Ave. Mont-Royal, we decided to walk up Saint-Denis to the pedestrian-friendly area of Rue De Castelnau Street east from Saint-Denis to De Gaspé. It was a long walk for us, but we were soon rewarded because almost as soon as we turned the corner onto Rue De Castelnau, we came across Boulangerie Le Marquis, with a sign out front stating that it was gluten-free. And since my wife has Celiac Disease, that sign was like a beacon of sunshine in an otherwise dreary, rainy morning. And it even got better as we learned that everything in the bakery was gluten-free, including not only all the pastries, but the wraps and other items as well. And as a vegan, I was also pleased to see several delicious-looking vegan pastries as well. The only downsides to the boulangerie if you are planning to dine in, are that they only have seating for two near the window, and they don't serve coffee. On the bright side however, we were told that we could buy a cup of coffee at the cafe next door, and then bring it back and drink it here while enjoying the gluten-free pastries. And that is exactly what we did. My wife ordered a gluten-free almond croissant ($5.25) and I selected a vegan almond and pear tarte ($6.49). And since it, too, was of course gluten-free, my wife was able to taste some of it as well. Both items were so delicious that, as soon as we finished metaphorically licking our plates, my wife ordered a couple of items to take back to our apartment to enjoy later. This time she selected an eggplant wrap ($11.99) and an almond and chocolate croissant (5.49). She also made plans to return just before our trip back to Savannah, so that she can enjoy some of the delicious items once we are back home. She has pronounced this the best gluten-free bakery she has ever been to.

A wonderfully baked batch of pastries overall. The lack of gluten is unnoticeable and there is no attempt to mask any taste with excessive sugar. Very moist and fluffy - a good option for anyone trying to avoid gluten.

We popped in here for pastries our first monring in Montreal. It smelled WONDERFUL. We had yet to get any real Canadian cash so all we had was a bunch of coins given to us from friends who had been to Canada and weren't returning any time soon and credit, but this is cash only place. The gentlemen behind the counter was very patient with us and worked with us and our broken French and his broken English to understand what we could afford with our coins. We wound up with an apple turnover and a strawberry apple pastry. The latter was best but they were both amazing. Apple turnovers are my mom's favorite so I've had many growing up and this was the best one I've ever had. Worth a stop for sure. Side note: We later discovered the is am ATM on this same street just a block or two (walking away from St-Denis) on the left. I forgot to go back for to-go crossiants, and I regret that now. They also have meat and cheese, but we did not buy any.

I can't believe Montreal has multiple places to get gluten free croissants and pastries and New York / LOS Angeles still Does NOT have any gluten free croissant and real pastries! Can you please open in nyc!!! Please!!!! I have to come all the way to Montreal to get eclairs and croissant (it's what I miss the most being celiac)! How is the USA not catching on and Montreal a place where gluten free was hardly ever heard of 10yrs ago and is now booming!!! This place is amazing! Also has dairy free options. In my opinion I prefer dairy even tho I'm intolerant to it... I A little on the oily side for me that watches fat intake... but overall, they have everything bread, bagels, muffins, chocolate croissant... the sizes are really good too. Glad that I found this one today! So my top 2bakeries in Montreal are baked to go and this one! Good job guys! Pls come to nyc!!!

Where gluten free dreams come true. I can't believe the selection of beautifully crafted desserts and pastries. Everything we purchased was delicious. The croissants were out of this world and quite possibly the best I've ever had. Everything there was truly excellent and could put most non-gluten free bakeries to shame. Also the neighborhood is super cool and cute. Worth the drive from downtown (or Chicago).

This tasted just like the "real thing"!

This place was hands down a highlight of my Montréal food scene experience. The shop itself is very cute and cozy, with just two small tables by the window and a few chairs. The décor is simple, and so are your choices, which honestly works in their favor. When you step inside, you get a direct view of the bakers working their magic, which makes the experience even better. We ordered a hot chocolate, plain croissants, chocolate croissants, and a slice of the Kouign‑Amann. If you like a dark, rich hot chocolate that's not overly sweet, look no further, this is the place. As for the croissants, both the plain and chocolate versions were good but fairly standard. However, the real star was the Kouign‑Amann. It was served warm, perfectly crispy, and had just the right amount of sweetness without being overwhelming. It was so good that when I finished my slice, I went back to the counter hoping for more but they were sold out. To be fair, I arrived around 2pm and they close at 3pm. Despite that, the line moved quickly, and the staff were some of the sweetest people ever. My only regret? I only bought one slice. I'd highly recommend this place, but make sure you get there early if you want to snag a slice of Kouign‑Amann before they sell out.

We both had a "tranche" /slice /portion of the flaky pastry originating from Brittany. While it does not look like the Kouign Amanns I've had before, it definitely tasted fabulous. We were not the only ones who thought so. While we ate our bounty at one of the two open tables, we saw person after person purchase whole galettes, possibly for an upcoming family gathering. The pastry had a sweet and crunchy crust and a buttery interior. Here, it does not resemble a croissant. Instead, the layers of dough were softer than the typical honeycomb structure of a croissant. Speaking of which, my sister also recommends the croissants here, which she used to have regularly when the shop was open more frequently.

I was intrigued, and since I can always go for some carbs I decided to head in and check this place out. Unlike most bakeries I visited, Boulangerie Guillaume has a much more modern look, and is larger than a standard bakery. Walking in, I was immediately greeted by stairs which led up to the main production area. All of the bakes were arranged on the back-wall perimeter of the space separated from the pedestrians by a glass wall. The color scheme was mostly black to contrast the bright yellow of the bags and signage. The arrangement of the bakes, combined with the color scheme and modern aesthetics, resulted in a stunning, visually striking presentation. I wasn't too hungry, but I can always go for some sweets and their date square looked good. I went with that, along with a cappuccino. The square was delicious - the dates were high quality, and the crust underneath was moist while maintaining its integrity. The cappuccino was also good, a great complement to the bake. Service was efficient, and overall I had a great experience at Boulangerie Guillaume. I definitely want to return to explore more of their menu - I noticed they had some savory items so perhaps for some lunch. Definitely one of the best bakeries I visited in Montreal.

The restaurant didn't provide a high chair for our baby, which was a bit disappointing. The service was good with our waitress checking with us to order and being prompt and attentive. Here is what we ordered: Grilled Cheese O+G (8/10) - the bread with the grilled cheese and caramelized onions were cooked well. The homemade ketchup had a sweet taste to it and was brought out a little colder than room temperature. I probably would have preferred the ketchup/tomato sauce to be a bit warmer. The Chicken Melt (8/10) - this sandwich was pretty big. It had grilled chicken in a creamy sauce, some Cole slaw (actually a lot of Cole slaw) and some dill pickles. The sandwich was a bit messy to eat and I think it had a little too much Cole slaw, but it was a good sandwich, nonetheless. Overall, I good experience with a few suggestions in my review that I think would have made it really great.

The Long Version: So I had never heard of Rossetti before. They didn't exist when I was living in Montreal (the 2000s) and after I left, my husband (who was still my boyfriend at the beginning) and I would return often (at least a few times a year until 2019) and I'm pretty sure they weren't around then. We took a few years hiatus from visiting Montreal and then when we returned in 2024, boom, Rossetti had 4 different locations in the downtown core! What's their origin story? I have no idea. Their website has no "About Us" section. All I know is they opened sometime between 2020 and 2024, lol. I tried their caramel eclair ($5.50). The caramel icing was really tasty, but I found the choux pastry and the custard filling a bit dry. They have cannoli, amaretti, financiers, croissants and tarts. They also have sandwiches and pizza. I was disappointed that they didn't have sfogliatella, my favourite Italian pastry. Oh, they also have coffees and teas. The interior is nice with seating to dine in. Service was neutral. I may return to try another item. Maybe at one of their other locations. Review #16 (2025)

While in Miami last year, my husband, mother-in-law and I became big fans of the Rosetta on lower Collins Ave and then once they opened the one by Lincoln Center in NYC, we began to visit that one often since it's walking distance. After climbing to the Kondiaronk Belvedere on Mont Royal, we decided we needed sustenance on our way back down and we spied Rosetti as we were walking back to our hotel. Since it looked very similar to Rosetta, we decided to stop in and grab a bite. The sandwiches and pastries were on full display and we knew we made a good choice. I had a Pizza Margherita which was huge...I could have shared it. I also had a caramel tart for a sweet treat afterwards. Others in the group had sandwiches and other sweets which they all enjoyed. There are some stools at a counter downstairs and a little more seating upstairs with a few low tables along with some high tops and counters. The ladies who worked there were very nice. We enjoyed our food and think it's a great place for a quick bite that's a bit elevated from traditional fast food.
