The room is very pretty as is the patio. Originally we got a table with a plant hitting into my husband, but fortunately they were able to move us. Prices are high and service is eager- perhaps a little too eager to take my plate or drink before I'm finished. If I'm paying $20 for a cocktail and am not getting another, ask first. I like to sip the ice as it melts and enjoy the flavors. Appetizers were great. Got the chicken dumplings and sesame raviolis . This and the herb salad was my favorite bite of the night. Had we stopped there, it would be almost 5 stars. We also ordered the whole fish at $125. I love whole fish. The server encouraged us to order a side despite coming with lettuce/salad and rice. He neglected to mention the rice and we ordered the noodles. This was overkill and wasteful. I would have preferred room for dessert. The fish was good but they pour the lettuce and dressing over it so it's rather gloppy. Not worth it.,, for $125 I expected more., So I left the meal feeling more meh after a great start., a lot of complaints are about the prive and I agree. I honestly couldn't really validate giving a higher score. I attribute their two stars to the Sommolier thay came by and offered a great pair suggestion to the dishes we ordered. The food was good but nothing to merit the hype that this place received, let alone the prices asked for. The restaurant was very busy and a pet peeve of mine (which is no fault of the staff, I understand) is being seated late when a reservation had been made. What's the point of offering reservations, then? We were sat in a corner on a very very small table for two. We had to remove the lamp off the table to barely make room for our orders. My friend ordered a bottle of their sparkling water which was placed in an ice bucket out of our table's reach. It wouldn't have been an issue if we didn't have to keep asking for the glasses to get refilled. I believe the hype of this restaurant got the better of the actual dining experience. The food was nothing spectacular and the service was severely lacking. I liked their eggplant dish, Specially with the pinot noir the Sommolier recommended and that is all. The restaurant was definitely more on the Vietnamese side of cuisine but there are several other Vietnamese restaurants with better food and better service. As far as their French influence....there are also other French restaurants that I would consider before returning here. Le Colonial is definitely on the pricier side, so I'd recommend ordering family style with a few larger plates and some smaller plates to share. We tried several dishes, and our favorites were the shrimp stirfry, eggrolls, and papaya salad. We also had the mussels special, salmon, fried rice without pork sausage, chocolate cake, and tapioca pudding. Overall, the food was decent, but I felt like it was missing the depth of flavor I usually expect from Vietnamese food. A lot of the dishes could've been hotter since they mostly came out just warm. For the prices, I just don't feel like the food lived up to the cost. The ambiance is nice for a special occasion, and our waiter was great, but it's probably not somewhere I'd personally come back to. Parking is mostly street parking, so keep that in mind. read more

This was a spur of the moment, walk in 10 minutes before lunch closed and we're still treated as if we were part of the dinner crowd with a reservation. Shrimp rolls, beet salad, noodles. For the drinks being $20+ they were off balanced and nothing we would order again. My tamarind sour was beautiful but syrupy sweet, the Old Cuban was tart and bitter. It was 3pm and the bar was almost full so the one bartender wasn't very attentive. The beef Pho had one piece of beef in it, and the broth was flavorful. The chicken curry was also very flavorful but a little on the salty side. The bartender never asked how anything was but if we were good which seemed more like, do you need anything? Obsessed with this place since my first visit in Chicago. The food and service are both consistently good and the decor is a whole vibe. Edison was our server and did a great job with recommendations. The highlights of the night: - The lychee martini was absolutely divine - the shaking beef is my go to. So yummy! - we got the pork and shrimp rolls and they were so simple but sooo good! They are eaten wrapped in mint and lettuce with these crisp red chili peppers which for sure have a kick! - the fried rice was absolute perfection! Big thanks to the Manager for making our night special! I know he worked hard to make some rearrangements so I sincerely appreciate his kindness when I first walked in. They accommodated our party of nine even with a last-minute seating change. The hostess told me that its against corporate policy to have a party over 9 when I first asked which startled me a bit. But once the Manager stepped in, all was at ease. He then explained to us that they typically require private dining after 8. Chef Matthew was incredible, welcoming everyone as we arrived, explaining the menu, and letting us know we'd need to order all at once so the kitchen could pace dishes. Chef Grace was equally fantastic. When there was a mix-up with the beef salad, she fixed it immediately and even comped the beet salad, which was so generous. The food was fun to try as a Vietnamese household because we knew it would be a unique Vietnamese-French blend. The restaurant is gorgeous with a chic velvet ambiance. Dishes leaned much more on the sweeter and citrusy side which felt at times too overpowering with some strong oyster sauce and curry notes, but overall a great experience. Service was excellent with waters constantly refilled and dishes cleared quickly. Valet and paid parking nearby made it easy. Overall, it was a special night for us to celebrate a birthday and for my grandma's last night in town. The appetizers here are divine especially the ribs and garlic noodles. The main dishes were just okay for me, and overall I found it a bit overpriced. It leans more toward a fusion concept than truly authentic cuisine. I don't think it's worth the price for food unless you're coming for the experience. That said, the service was excellent and the overall experience felt upscale and polished. The ambiance is beautiful, intimate, warm, and thoughtfully designed. This has been one of my favorite restaurants, since my dad & I used to visit the Rush Street location in Chicago, over 20-years ago, when he'd come to visit me during college. I love the ambiance, of both the Chicago & Denver locations, as well as the French Vietnamese cuisine, which is always delicious. This location has pretty good service, though they're having a strange issue with their bathroom faucets, and next to no water pressure, clearly needing to work with their plumbers &/or the city, to fix, as it's virtually impossible to wash one's hands, in only one of the sinks. In parallel, I was frustrated that even though our table purchased bottled water, when a group of ladies & came here a few weeks ago, I had to repeatedly ask for my glass to be refilled. The mark of quality service is to never have an empty water glass. (My dad taught me proper etiquette, after being born & raised in Beverly Hills, before he passed away in 2021, which is what brought me back to my hometown, from both the East & West Coasts.) I've also come here in September, with a friend visiting from Hawaii. And I came here with an ex, last Valentine's Day 2025, for the pre-fixe menu. Overall, in spite of some of these issues, which I attribute to Denver being an "overgrown cowtown," according to my bi-coastal dad, like me, this remains one of my favorite restaurants in my hometown, and I remain optimistic that some of these minor quirks, which are on-par for Denver, can be worked out, once management reads this review. :-) read more

Been wanting to try Le Colonial for so long and I'm so glad I went for my boyfriend and I's anniversary! The service is top tier, we were constantly checked on and they wanted to make sure we had a perfect dinner. It's pretty busy so I recommend making a reservation beforehand. The ambiance is nice and the lights are dim. For food we got the banh uot, bo luc lac (could have more meat and less veggies) pork ribs (a bit on the drier side), and crème brûlée which were all delicious! Only con of the night is I firmly believe at any restaurant serving Asian dishes there should be rice included in the entrees especially for how expensive it is! A very large restaurant offering fine dining Vietnamese-French fusion with a diverse option of dishes. Their beef ravioli was my favorite. The rice noodles were thick and the beef was so flavorful. The chicken cabbage salad with grapefruit was fine but I wouldn't order again. The seabass unfortunately was overcooked so it did not have the flaky texture it was supposed to and instead was tougher but I did enjoy the sauce and garnishing. Such a great fusion of Vietnamese and French food! This upscale dining restaurant and Lounge even has a separate bar area. Definitely not a place that you can just come off the street as it does have a dress code. We came in for dinner on a Wednesday night and it was much busier than expected. Make sure to book a reservation and ask for Grace as your server! She was fantastic with with the recommendations and such a great personality. She told us we should do a small plate and an entrée per person so started off with crispy shrimp and pork roll and pan seared chicken dumplings. I thought for sure I was going to like the dumplings, but the shrimp and pork rolls sauce it came with was so yummy! For large plates we did the shaking beef and half roasted duck. The duck was sweet and tender and cooked perfectly. I didn't realize it was a create your own bao bun situation so that was a pleasant surprise. We had plenty of leftovers and it was even good the next day. I had such an elegant experience at this new restaurant in Cherry Creek just past Saturday. Ambiance, service, food and location all checked out for this beautiful 5-star review. This is a chain restaurant which started in NY in early 90's. The business had initially struggled to take off but it has eventually become to an entity with 7 locations in the whole country (Denver location being the newest.) But just because it's a chain doesn't mean that you should quickly dismiss it as a good restaurant. Good size menu from small plates to large plates. Great selection of wine (both glass to bottle.) After all, this is a Vietnamese French restaurant that depicts the 1920's era which is perfected in the decors throughout the restaurant. The floor tiles and vibrant red couches and wall art must have been carefully selected to create one of a kind ambiance. Whomever was responsible behind the whole design of it should receive a lot of praise for the work he/she/they had put together everything. I specifically walked from my hotel 10 min away on my lunch break to try their pho that they advertise as "decades old recipe". It was horrible. It came with 2 pieces of meat, no garnishes on the side, just some green onions, basil and bean sprouts floating in canned beef broth. I would give the ambiance 10/10 but the pho was 0/10. The foods very good but here's the issue with this place. They charge twice as much as other places and give half the portion size. So it's four times as expensive, if that makes sense. We ordered delivery a few times and each time the portion size is ridiculous for a $40 entree. If they can actually fix this, they'll be in much better shape. read more

Came here last night with my wife to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We were seated right away and greeted by a very friendly and welcoming server who wished us a happy anniversary. Drinks were fantastic, decor/ambience is great, very romantic. We got the sea bass, which was phenomenal, the crispy shrimp and pork rolls, and the chicken clay pot. All the flavors were great. Very minor complaint that a busser came by and grabbed my cocktail glass while I was in the restroom and there was still about a third of my drink left. They replaced it when my wife alerted our server of the issue, but the bussers were a little too eager with clearing dishes and glassware! We got the pineapple upside down cake for dessert, which was amazing and probably my favorite dish of the meal. I also enjoyed a stellar Vietnamese coffee with it. The dessert was not comped for the occasion, but I know not all upscale places will give a free dessert. Ours was so good that I'd pay for it regardless. These places annoy me. It is a place to be seen and the service is extremely slow (I want to give you more money and you won't let me). We went with a group, which is probably the problem - you order as a table and share all these small things. Once you find an amazing bite, that dish is gone. It is loud, but the staff is very nice when you see them. If, big if, I return, I will make it a date night, not group date, try to sit at the bar, then I can focus on a couple things, enjoy the wine and cocktails, and not worry about the general shotgun approach. The atmosphere and decor here are super cool -- definitely one of the main draws, as it's a standout in the city. From the elegant front atrium dining area, to the white-tablecloth dining room full of tropical plants, to the upbeat bar and lounge area covered with red velvet -- it's all fantastic. The food is great, albeit slightly on the pricier side (but fitting for the restaurant quality and the location). The oxtail pho broth is amazing -- I wish this was a fuller dish with more meat, because it was so good. Le Colonial is a relatively new French Vietnamese restaurant in a beautiful area of Cherry Creek. I would describe the atmosphere as warm, dark, moody, and romantic. It is definitely a perfect spot to bring a date you are trying to impress. Make sure to dress up! There are two areas in the restaurant: the bar and the porch. Both areas have full kitchen service. I would definitely recommend the porch for a more intimate and quiet setting while the bar has somewhat of a loud and fun atmosphere. My party went for the porch but I would like to go back for some drinks at the bar another time. The food and drinks were all absolutely amazing. I love Vietnamese food and I was a bit concerned that Le Colonial's food would be more fusion than traditional Vietnamese but the Vietnamese people I was with assured me that although the food wasn't completely traditional they did a good job of sticking to the true flavors. In particular, I would recommend the beef salad and the pork ribs. Everything was so good but those two in particular blew me away. The wine that our server recommended was also a great pairing to our food. To wrap this up, our server was also very personable and made sure that we ordered the perfect amount of food, picked good pairings, and had a good time overall. Came here on a Thursday evening for dinner and it was popping! We didn't have a reservation but arrived early enough (~5:15) that we were able to score a table - a lovely booth at that, which was a pleasant surprise. Service was impeccable. Plenty of staff bustling about but it didn't feel overwhelming or jam-packed. My water glass was never more than 1/2 full which is basically my love language. Our server was knowledgeable and friendly and our food was spaced out perfectly (a perk of ordering all at once). For drinks, my husband had the smoked old fashioned and I went with a mocktail, Saigon Mint Colada. Both were delicious. The OF wasn't cheap ($25) but it was perfect. Next up, food! Family style is the name of the game here. We started with the Sui Cao Chien (Pan seared chicken dumplings) which were satisfying; crispy but not too heavy. For entrees we ordered Cari Ga (Tofu Curry) and beef stir fry which was reminiscent of drunken noodles. They were both super yummy. Highly flavorable, good portions, and the right amount of kick - the beef was melt in your mouth level and just perfect. I would have liked a tad more veggies in the curry, but that's my only recommendation. We also had a side of Do Chu (House Pickled Seasonal Vegetables)... I could eat those every single day and be thrilled. Lastly, we ended with vanilla crème brûlée and guess what? Also amazing. If you couldn't tell, we loved our dinner at Le Colonial. I would be more than happy to return. Everything was top notch and the prices weren't outrageous for the quality, especially considering they are in Cherry Creek North. Zero Proof Review: I'm on a quest to check out all the zero proof, mocktail and n/a beverages that Denver and beyong has to offer. Le Colonial had a few options I had difficulty choosing between, but my Saigon Mint Colada was a winner. Our server was very attentive and had a lot of great suggestions. The Beef Luc Lac is pure magic--tender, buttery, and perfectly charred that might just make you blush. The chicken dumplings and shrimp crispy rolls are so good they could end family feuds, while the French-Vietnamese ravioli prove that cultural fusion belongs on every plate. As for the pork ribs? A friend and I had 5 o'clock reservations and there was a group of people waiting to be seated when we got there because the restaurant part hadn't opened yet. We got a nice table that wasn't next to anyone else, so it felt kind of private. Our server was great. I had a couple of lychee martinis which were delicious and we both enjoyed our food a lot. The only thing that wasn't great for me was that I wanted the beef dish which only comes rare, but they were willing to do medium rare. After Le Colonial opened in Cherry Creek North more than a year ago, it has been a popular lunch and dinner spot for many locals. Comparing to other Vietnamese restaurants in town, its French Vietnamese fusion cuisine was certainly more adventurous to foodies used to the more traditional mainstream Vietnamese dishes. The atmosphere and service of the restaurant was a level above most of the Asian restaurants in town. The restaurant did an excellent job replicating the tropical aesthetic feel of Vietnam's French colonial era, from the wooden panel walls, mosaic flooring, lighting, plants, decors and other small details. The servers were dressed in traditional Tang suit uniform and the service was on par with any high end restaurants in town, prompt, dedicated and courteous. The menu appeared to be more pan Asian, but also with many Vietnamese staples. Ordered the crispy shrimp and pork roll for appetizer, shaking beef and chicken curry for entrees and warm chocolate cake and Vietnamese coffee for desserts. The crispy shrimp and pork rolls were quite authentic, aromatic and not as greasy or overdone as some places. The filet minion of the shaking beef was tender, juicy and had steak like taste. The curry chicken used Amish chicken and slightly spicy yellow coconut curry with mango, yam, cashew, eggplant, which matched well and added to the texture of the dish. The warm chocolate cake used the Valrhona Guanaja dark chocolate. The server poured Rum over the cake, placed the ice cream on top of the cake and ignited the liquor, , beside being a spectacle, it also softened alcohol taste while adding depth and flavor to the cake. The Vietnamese drip coffee used the Chicory blend coffee, not as bitter and acerbic as Arabic coffee, matched the condensed milk well and had a smooth smooth taste.
