Just finished our meal here and the entire walk back me and my bf could not stop talking about how much we loved this place. To quote him "I had my new favorite meal here, and my new favorite wine here." Everyone that we interacted with was lovely and eager to help. They took the time to walk us through their menu, ingredients, and preparation. It was very helpful for people like us who are not well versed in French cooking. Their wine list is extensive to say the least, but their Somm is knowledge and choose a delicious wine that paired perfectly with our meal. Overall, this place will be remembered fondly when we go back home to our office jobs and want a little mental escape. Truly wonderful, and unpretentious-just damn good food. read more

Monsieur Benôit and his team do a marvelous job. I did my best to speak French (though terribly) and they made us feel very welcome. Everything was outstanding. If you have any hesitation about trying escargot, forget it. The artful combination of escargot with morel mushrooms was a memorable lesson in the culinary arts. Choux pistache would sound unappealing at any American restaurant. I had a feeling at this place it would be something special, and I was right! The sole had that perfectly delicate cooking level that borders on being a little raw. I also went to Jöel Robuchon's L'Atelier. Honestly, I would pick Les Bon Georges any day. one of the better meals of the trip. definitely the best lunch. shared a bottle of wine, big selection. wife loved the soup (something w beef?), i had a leek app that had a bunch of citrus which was great. shepherd's pie with bone marrow was very rich and savory. hit the spot. had the fancy ground beef cooked blue (server said they only cook blue or rare). really enjoyed it. i will say that the bread here isn't as good as other spots, but who really cares. great service. server was funny, and translated entire menu to english before we had the chance to even ask one question. read more

We arrived at the restaurant 15 minutes before it opened and they were accommodating and let us come in out of the cold and sit down. After the restaurant officially opened, we had the menu described to us and we ordered shortly after. Midway through our meal, the waiter bent down closely so no one else could hear and told us to hurry up and finish our dinner because others were waiting on our table. We had not spent hours at the table; maybe an hour and a half max so there wasn't an extremely long time taken by us. This was very rude and he told us we could eat our dessert outside in the cold which was a second blow. It was also our last dinner in Paris and it was ruined by this very rude waiter; I wouldn't recommend this restaurant. read more

Excellent restaurant in the 9th. Known for their grass fed beef dishes. I had the steak tartare which was great and the fries were on point. The sommelier was very knowledgeable and recommended a couple of great wines from burgundy. If going for lunch try the price fixe which comes with an app and steak tartare for 21 euro. read more

Le Bon Georges was a truly exception meal, start to finish. We were warmly greeted by the owner and promptly shown to our table down a very small flight of stairs, near a window overlooking the small street outside. Echoing the other reviewer's comments, the wine list is breathtakingly vast and comprehensive. We asked and received some great advice and enjoyed an outstanding pinot noir. It's tough to state how well this wine worked with our meal. Don't overlook the wines by the glass on the inside cover-page, they all are fantastic. Our waiter let us graze over their menu, hand-written in on a small chalkboard. While being fluent in French is an asset to reading the menu, it's not essential. All of the waiters take a few moments to explain, in very good detail, all the menu items in English or French. We enjoyed a couple of appetizers (in Americanized terms: butternut squash soup and trumpet mushrooms with crispy dried duck). Both were perfect in taste and plating. For our mains, we enjoyed chicken and steak polmard. The chicken, served with a hen-of-the-woods type mushroom, was great. However, the star was the steak polmard. It's essential you try the steak polmard at le Bon Georges, it's a truly outstanding beef. Our entire experience at le Bon Georges was perfect. We cannot wait to return. read more

We recently visited Paris and had made reservations at Le Bon Georges by Internet. What a marvelous evening we had at this lovely little bistro. The decor was exactly what you'd expect, cozy, intimate, and so Parisian. Our meal was everything we could have hoped for from the pate appetizer and the mushroom and ham appy to the delectable veal rump steak perfectly cooked with a rich sauce and French Fries that will forever be my dream fries. So delicious. We finished with a superb apple tarte with creme fraiche. The service was spot on, no pretension or snobbishness. Pleasant memories of a perfect Paris dining experience. read more

My boyfriend and I went here upon recommendation of our hotel. It's very cute inside and the waiter explained the menu to us in English very nicely. The wine list was also bigger than most text books. We ordered the asparagus appetizer which was very yummy but it was 24 euros and we only got three individual asparagus pieces and the couple next to us got 4. In addition to this my boyfriends "steak" was an extremely undercooked hamburger and my lamb was just straight fat. The family next to us was also given much more options than we were. When we asked for the check they forgot about us for nearly an hour. Overall not worth the price and I believe they took advantage of us as young tourists. read more

Here is a local bistro with wooden bleached tables (no tablecloths) and a bare bones decor. A neighborhood spot known for its excellent food especially beef--written on a chalkboard (no written menus that I could see). The staff helped us decipher the writing so we choose an off the bone chicken dish made with mushrooms in a beef sauce---tasty but on the dry side. But the starter of an endive salad could not have been better. We were there for lunch and when we asked about their famous beef (from Polmard) we were told about the large 46 oz size portion so we decided to save that option for another time when we were famished. Totally enjoyed the whole atmosphere of casual good cheer and since it was Christmas time we were delighted with the house chocolate Christmas hazelnut log (outstanding). Go. Enjoy. Menu in French but our waitress took lots of time to explain to us the dishes in English. Almost the entire restaurant was speaking French so it was nice to be in an authentic bistro. We had a 3 course lunch at the Bon George - a great meal. If you are a carnean, like I am, you will enjoy the great, aged, beef that they serve, either rare, or blue. The other dishes were perfect examples of good, honest French food. The starter consisting of porcini and snails was excellent, the chocolate fondant was oozing when we cut it open. Outstanding! Came because of random article in NYT. Was definitely best service while in Paris. Had totally chill lunch with Theodora helping with our nonexistent french. Pate, tuna, veal all exceptional with great wines by the glass (champagne, Chablis and Loire). As the only Americans in the place we felt like we were cheating, definitely a locals favorite.
