Was told to dine here by our close friend and owner of the top restaurant on Oahu, Fete. It is now one of our top restaurants. From the true Aloha greeting to a waitress who should be cloned and sold to restaurants around the world our experience was awesome. The entire staff moved like ballet dancers. The wine list ( we are wine educators and consultants) could give you a hernia had so much to offer and the sommelier made everyone he worked with truly comfortable. For dinner we had a pollee of chanterelles and a steak for two that rivaled Peter Luger or any of the top steak houses in NYC. Just a totally amazing dinner. read more

The very definition of hit or miss. Our first time several months ago was excellent, however our dinner last night was both overpriced and underwhelming--meats not cooked to temperature with zero flavor and very tough for a filet-- the lobster dish 'looked good' but looks were very deceiving. Charming French bistro with neighborhood charm. Of course I got their beef tartar served with salad, and frites. Fries were perfectly seasoned. The tartar itself is excellent, but probably not what you would come to expect from a classic French tartar. I think they focus on higher quality ingredients giving the higher price points compared to their peers. The beef came simply seasoned with salt and pepper....nothing else. The freshness of the beef really rang true, but if you were expecting the usual creaminess from a beaten egg yolk, or the slight tanginess coming from Worcestershire sauce, or any textural bites of sour pickles... this won't be it for you. Service was good and they give excellent wine selections. I just wish the tartar came with the options to add some modification...perhaps some condiments on the side if one so chose. read more

Got here and it was very cold, the waiter refused to seat us inside because we had a reservation for outside, the inside was completely empty but ok whatever we dealt with it. The food was good but if you're in Paris it's not worth driving all the way here for, theirs better restaurants in the area. There are 2 waiters for about 20 tables so you will hardly get any attention. The menu is fully in French so you will not understand a thing, you can't even translate it with google because it's written in cursive on a board so the waiter just explains everything to you witch is like impossible to understand. The place is recommended in most restaurant's guides, in all languages, as a real French Bistrot, and obviously attract tourists, mostly Americans. In fact, you won't see many locals...The food is OK, (no Michelin stars), but definitely overpriced to the point that you feel taken advantage from. 32 Euros ($36) for a soft boiled egg with a hint of truffle oil, as an appetizer. Main courses are around 48 to 52 Euros ($55 to $60), and more for steacks. Indeed, the wine list is very rich, the waiters are nice and the service is good. One of my favorite "French" restaurants in Paris. Located in the 9th arrondissement, off the beaten path.....the most delicious takes on the classics. I love the servers who are also trained sommeliers. The wine list is top notch, and if you are a meat lover, this is your place (though I eat fish!). Old-school, classic French restaurant that is a master of everything. Very busy -- avoid peak times if you can, but find a way to get here. Order from the board (the daily menu) -- they know what's fresh, what's good, and what they are good at. It's all in French but they will help you if you're French-impaired. This won't help you (since the menu varies) but we had a tomato salad garnished with big truffle slices (maybe my least favorite since the truffles were bland); a lovely duck terrine with apricots; roast chicken (trust me, this does not "taste like chicken"; a fish dish, and a clafouti for dessert. The restaurant is super cozy and comfortable with inside and outside dining. I received a confirmation from the restaurant for my reservation. When I arrived, I was told I was in a waiting list and to "reread the email." I indeed had a confirmation and was given a seat. There is both indoor and outdoor seating. The staff and owner are very nice. The food was good. The wine list has over 2000 offerings. The staff is very knowledgeable about wines. I wish the by-the-glass options where better and had more options. Great place for family, couples, or friends. The butternut soup was delicious but could have been warmer. This was hands down the best meal I had in Paris. The restaurant itself is a small, unpretentious bistro with tables very close together. The waitstaff is incredibly friendly and helpful. The menu is in French with no English version, but the waiters spoke English and were very helpful translating (I don't speak any French). To start, I had the cream of leek soup. This may have been the best soup I've ever had. It had homemade mini gnocchis and goat cheese and a leek soup was poured over it. It was really incredible. For my main I had the chicken which was rolled with mushroom and had a mushroom sauce over mashed potatoes. This was also incredible. My mom had the trout and loved it. For drinks we both had wine and enjoyed it. The wine list is extensive with a ton of options by the glass. The price was reasonable enough especially for the amazing food. I saw this place in a Japanese persons YouTube video and it looked so good that I had to visit. It was an amazing lunch we had. I had the steak Hache which is like a hamburger steak but it was a corse ground beef. This was so good and I really enjoyed it, ever since I've checked at many restaurants for this steak hache but it's been only for kids. Next time I'm back, I have to try it again. Solid 5 star French bistro it is! I would recommend that you all go make a reservation now! We arrived early for our lunch reservation and we received warm greetings by the staff that we were early and we stood next to the bar area. We ordered a great burgundy ($350+ to buy in a wine shop in US for less here at Bon George!) and was offered Zalto glasses. Everyone on yelp mentioned the plat du jour: a veal Hamburg patty with a salad and the carrot soup ($21) was delicious! The seafood dish I ordered (scallops and fish) was perfectly cooked. Got to give this place a 5 star for service, food and being welcomed even when I tried to speak in my broken French. We had a reservation for 4 and was clear from the outset that it was going to be good. Our server was very professional and really helpful. There is a great selection of food on the menu and I can only imagine it all tastes great. For starters we had the green bean, tuna confit which was a flood of flavours and some new tastes to my tongue. We had heard of the famous Polmard Beef and just had to try it. We had the beef tartare and the carpaccio-all raw and it was amazing. All parts of the meal just fit together in every mouthful. I will never forget our dinner here! We ate here on our last night in Paris and it did not disappoint. They were fully booked on a Friday night but managed to accommodate us because we arrived early. Not far from the shopping area near the Opéra is a great little bistro called the Bon Georges, which reopens today after their holiday hiatus:) They have a great lunch menu for 19 Euros ($21 USD), but the daily specials tempted Jennie and me too much to resist. I chose the fish, a delicate merlan, or whiting, perfectly done with a crispy skin, braised endives, and a tomato relish. My friend chose the tarragon chicken breast special, but it was so dry, even the sauces couldn't save it. The fries accompanying her dish were fantastic, crisp, obviously home made, and she was generous enough to share :) Jennie opted for a dessert to end the meal on a sweet note:) The total with a glass of wine was 70 Euros ($80) for both of us, and service was so friendly and pleasant that we left a bit more for the waitress who not only hung our coats, but got an extra chair for our handbags! read more

My vision of an ideal French bistro. I have now been there 3 times and each time has been a true pleasure. The environment here is so open and welcoming. The staff are all personable and enjoy bantering with customers. Benoît the owner even puts in a shift and for our most recent visit he learned that we were from New York and he launched on a most entertaining review of the restaurants there and hotels. We almost forgot to order we were so swept up into speaking with him. The food is superb here, especially the beef which they source from some of the finest producers in the country. I have not had a bad dish here and the menu evolves with the seasons so it is never the same. Most recently I ordered the beef carpaccio and it was delicious, perfectly seasoned with a little olive oil and just a hint of spice. The cheeses come from Fromagerie Griffon in the 7e and the ones I have had (comte, a Tomme and two sheep cheeses I had never heard of) were so rich and wonderfully unfamiliar. Thomas, the sommelier, is a young star (it doesn't like he is even of drinking age). You can simply point to a page of a region you like and ask for him to choose, considerate of price and age. He has not let us down and I discovered a red wine from Corsica which I will scour for in every wine shop. One final anecdote: an American couple was seated and it was clear they did not know much about French bistro cuisine. Benoît was their waiter and warmly welcomed them and then patiently fielded their questions, offering his personal suggestions as well as the quintessential dishes one must try while in France. One of our favorite meals in France. I accidentally booked for the wrong date initially and had to cancel the reservation. Thankfully, the concierge at our hotel was able to get us a reservation at a bar high top table. The place was completely full by the end of our meal; so, we felt luck to get a bar table which was actually a large high top table that we shared with one other party. We started with the charcuterie and mushrooms with bacon. Both were excellent. For entrees we had the chop steak (like a burger) and lamb with sides of carrots and fries, respectively. We had made a reservation far in advance and they wanted to place us at a bar counter in the back room. Not a good start. We were able to move to a better real table with a time condition. They proceeded to hand us a menu the size of a dictionary with a smirk knowing we were foreigners and would probably want the house wine. My meat came raw which I had ordered medium, the tiny salad that came with it had bad leaves in it . The waiters were rushing around as if they couldn't be bothered. My husband, his friend and I came here for dinner one night without a reservation and were told we would be accommodated in an hour if we wished. We put our names in, took a stroll around, and came back and were the last ones to be seated. It was perfect because we didn't feel rushed and we were able to enjoy our food and drinks. The waiter was awesome, he explained the menu in both French for my friend and English for my husband and me, and didn't come off as bothered at all that he had to switch between the two languages. I must say, Le Bon Georges makes hands down the best steak I've ever had. The aged beef was tender and juicy - the pieces of steak almost melted in my mouth. The rest of my trip to Europe was essentially ruined because I was no longer able to look at beef the same way... and after being disappointed at 2 other restaurants in Paris and Barcelona, I refrained from ordering steak at all. Every now and then as you search between the Michelin started restaurants of Paris you find a little gem and this is one of them. If you are looking for an authentic bistro experience with the look and feel of yesteryear with the quality and precision expected in a top notch restaurant then you've come to the right place. Walk through the doors and you head into a bustling establishment overflowing with patrons eager to dine on what this bistro has to offer. Be prepared though to hear people turned away left and right so make reservations as space is limited and you don't want to be left on the street. No French attitude, complete willingness to explain everything to you in English, and sheer joy and appreciation for choosing to come to their establishment. Once you sit down, hopefully you will be fortunate enough to be catered to by the owner, Benoit, a man so passionate about his craft that he searches high and low to find the highest quality products to serve to his guests. The care of Benoit and his staff is such that you can feel their passion when describing a wine so different than anything you are accustomed to. For us it was a white wine grown in red wine soil that retained many red wine characteristics. A complete delight. Then we move onto the food. A tray of three mouth watering meats was followed by three additional unique appetizers. Then the real star of the night: a dish of filet mignon so tender and without fat it was unlike anything we have ever eaten and a tray of sirloin equally as succulent. All coming from a special farm in France that deals with only one other restaurant in Paris while turning all others away. It was truly sensational and not to be missed. Finally we had dessert along with very unique dessert wine that we had never tried anywhere else. Benoit was doing everything possible to give to us a most interesting Parisian bistro experience of the highest quality. All I can say, is if you are looking for the best meal in Paris, and are tired of going to the overhyped and machinelike major Michelin rated restaurants that many are living off of old reviews and just going through the motions, take off your fancy clothes, dress casually, ask to speak to Benoit and allow him to deliver to you a most magical and unforgettable evening. Seduced by cute website and some enthusiastic reviews, I reserved an outdoor table over a month ahead, so was surprised to arrive and have the host say it wasn't available. I showed him the email confirmation and he shrugged, suggesting we eat inside. When I resisted, he had a hissy fit, prancing around and yelling that I'd raised my voice. He did a quick reversal and sat us outside, where there were around 10 empty tables that remained so for well over an hour. The setting was lovely, but the food didn't compare to what we'd had at similarly-priced (even cheaper) bistros during our many trips to Paris. I emailed the owner to advise him of our experience. He called and said their tables are reserved well in advance, but didn't explain why he'd sent a confirmation if they were already booked. As for the empty tables, he told me the customers came later than expected (all 10 tables?). He didn't agree to waive the cost of the meal, which I'd suggested. I wrote again to say what he'd told me didn't feel credible, offering him a chance to do better, but got no response. He routinely responds to negative reviews with a lengthy attack, so maybe I will hear from him. read more
