Quit reading reviews and just trust me this place is delicious. The beef cheeks are so tender, served in a wine reduction that was so good. The French onion was delicious too And the angel food cake was light, airy the perfect amount of sweet and lovely light dessert after a filling meal. You won't regret this dining experience! We ventured upon this cozy cottage restaurant after touring Versailles. The staff was very pleasant and communicated in multiple languages. We enjoyed the Sea Bass over mushrooms in à decadent cream sauce. Unfortunately there is no evidence because it was devoured! The French Onion Soup was the best we have ever tasted. We were in a rush and did not get to finish our meal here, so I cannot speak on the entrees. The chef had stepped away at a critical time, this delaying our meal, only the adults though. The children got their meals right away. They have a QR code you scan to see the menu and can translate it on the website to several languages. The staff also spoke very good English to help us with our inadequate French. They have a kids meal for 12 euros which is very substantial. It comes with your choice of either beef or fish, fried or mashed potatoes and a scoop of ice cream for dessert. Honestly, I could have eaten the kid portion and been satisfied. We also tried the ceviche and foie gras. Best foie gras I had had thus far during my trip. They have prixe fix menu where you can get a starter and a main for 30 euros and some other combinations for a set price. There is an indigo parking garage nearby if you cannot find street parking. We visited Le Boeuf à la Mode nearly 13 years ago on our first trip to Paris, and enjoyed it so much we decided to return on a second trip Versailles. It is a cozy restaurant right on the main square in Versailles, easy to walk to after spending a day at the chateau and walking back to the trains to Paris. Our first experience 13 years ago was definitely 5 star. This time, I'm going to go 4, which is tough since we have such great memories of our first visit. It was very quiet -- I suspect that we were early for the dinner crowd -- but we did have a reservation just in case. The apertif spritzer was good, and we enjoyed all of the food. However I don't recall anything particularly standing out this visit. read more

B and I came here for dinner after visiting the Grand Trianon. We were super hungry and we found this place through Yelp. The rating was really high and we were not disappointed. On the day we went, there were not a lot of people. Menu item selections were very limited. I guess they only want to serve what they are good at making. B ordered the Roasted Tuna and I ordered the Beef Tartar (raw). This restaurant must get a lot of tourists. They have the menu in different languages: French, British and Spanish. Portion size was huge. I had some of the Roasted Tuna and OMG it was delicious. The roasted eggplants under the roasted tuna was amazing. It was unhealthy but whatever. My beef tartar was not as delicious as the Roasted Tuna but it was ok. They served bread along with our meal. Service was good. I do recommend coming here. After racking up a lot of steps at the Versailles Palace, we were ready to relax with a couple of well deserved drinks and good food. We ambled over to this tiny little bistro and enjoyed the outdoor seating with very good baguette slices and Aperol spritz. 9.20€ Traditional onion gratin - French Croutons and Emmental French onion soup: This might be one of the best French onion soups I have had. Besides having a golden brown cheese top and a broth full of sweet onions, there is a crouton layer. That's right. Underneath the cheese layer on top is crunchy bread layer, so every bite of cheese has crunchy, broth-soaked bread. 19.50€ Charolais Beef Tartare 180g, fries, salad mixed w/ herbs: I did not enjoy the beef tartare as much as I would have liked to. There wasn't much to it to give it any wow factor. The raw ground beef was on the lean side, and I think a fattier type of meat would be better for this dish. Also, I don't see a point to serving raw beef shaped from a circular ring when I need to mix up all the seasoning agents, thereby destroying its circular shape. The aioli and green onion paste injected a lot of flavor, but it was mostly the acidic flavor in the aioli that took over. 19.50€ French Burger - Artisan bread, French beef 150g, cheese fondue, fries, mixed salad with herbs, bearnaise sauce: This burger doesn't look like much at first, but it was very good! The beef patty was a nice, juicy medium rare, and had a dollop of cheese sauce, with good bread. The fries were a touch soggy. The food in general was quite good, but the steak tartare could be better. The service was quite friendly. Overall, I give this place a 7.75/10. read more

Terrific Restaurant! The ambience is second to none and the food and service are great too. Walking around Versailles after a crazy working day I stumble to this very cute Brasserie at 9 PM at night and the place was booming. With no reservation and a good kiss ass strategy I was able to convince them to get me a table. Be aware! In France you must to have reservations or else... I got the best onion soup I ever ate and escargots with a salad and potatoes gratin. I am telling you guys that everything was made to perfection! I highly recommend you to try this venue. read more

I have to give this place a mixed review. The food here is good, but not really excellent by any standard. Tonight I ordered a Prawn dish that was very tasty. It came with two very big prawns in the shell over a very tasty, creamy base. Delightful, although not particularly filling. My lovely wife, Mel J., ordered the French burger and found it very lacking. Her fries weren't cooked enough, and her salad a little wilted. I tried the fries and have to agree. Way undercooked. The salad did contain a number of wilted leaves. Leaving much to be desired! The wine they served was good, as was the ambiance. And the staff was friendly without much English, unfortunately for us, but that would have just been a bonus. I would return to Le Boeuf a la Mode, but would need better French to be able to ask the waitstaff what the freshest items were. The burger was made with same cuts of beef as the kabob and no stateside burger I've had compared. With house pickles, garden lettuce and tomatoes it was unbelievable. This place was one of the easiest places to get a reservation when we visited Versailles. I expected the place to be a tourist trap offering the usual tourist fare. So I walked in with low expectations. We ordered the chicken dish (the only one on the menu) and a salad. While the chicken dish had some flavor, I wouldn't say it was great. The "salad" was fries with a few slices of ham and some blue cheese. The service wasn't all too bad either. Among the many options, this is an OK option. read more

We walked to Le Boeuf à la Mode after visiting Versailles. I ordered the "French burger", which comes with fries and a salad. The burger was ok, but not amazing. The fries were undercooked, and the salad contained wilty bits. This meal was overpriced for the quality of the food. This was the most disappointing meal that I had on my trip to Paris & Switzerland. It's the only time that I was served a wilty salad on my whole trip. The cheese used on the burger didn't appear to match the description on the menu. The menu describes a "fondue of cheese" on the burger. Strolled in for lunch on a chilly December day. The wait staff were all very pleasant. I was headed to the Chateau Versailles and wanted a good meal before the adventure that was ahead of me... We were seated promptly upstairs. When the waiter saw that we were struggling with the menu he provided us with the translated pages at the rear of the menu, there was a page for English and Spanish, not sure if there were others. We were offered water which has been the usual at all the restaurants in Paris. To start we had the escargot prepared in lemon with seasoning and a crust. So delicious. It was piping hot and served with baguettes. For my meal I had the beef burgundy which consisted of several pieces of beef dressed in burgundy sauce that tasted EXQUISITE. The potatoes were cooked to perfection as were the carrots and peppers. The beef tenderloins were juicy and the plate was large. I couldn't finish it! Also, the waiter brought out the pot that the beef burgundy and potatoes were prepared in to show to me then told me he'd place it in a bowl. The waiter asked how the food tasted and we said, "deliclious!" To which he replied, "as always in France!" Loved it. Great ambiance. The waiter often came to check on our table while we dined. There was a table next to us topped with jars of olive oil and small bowls of olives. Some of the diners appeared to be a little dressed up but I think a tourist can get away with being a little casual. Service was GREAT and the food was EVEN better. Please visit if you're going to the Chateau Versailles, it's worth it I promise. read more

Visiting Versailles from the US, we wanted to have traditional steak-frites while on our trip. This place fit the bill. We just got steak frites, so I cannot comment on the rest of the menu. The steak was tender and had a good juicy sauce, and the fries were crisp and fresh. The decor of the restaurant was fairly typical of a small French cafe or bistro, with seating lining one of the walls. Worst service ever. We waited for 15 min to be acknowledged and then had to ask for her every time after. Our server was extremely rude.

They would not seat us even though we had a reservation and twenty empty tables. SKIP THIS PLACE FOR SURE!
