@lebilboquetny started it all in 1986 as an intimate boîte and now is thriving on the UES with their gorgeous restaurant. Le Bilboquet is perfect for a celebration dinner! I finally tried Le Bilboquet in the city after going to the one in the Hamptons many times. Mt friends and I had a great experience, with good service and good food. This is a nice place to come to in midtown for French food.

Came here for a birthday brunch, my friend wanted to get tipsy and dance. This review is for the overall experience and not precisely the food. Pro tip: brunch starts at 2PM, before and after 2PM are different worlds. Nomz: Had the famous Cajun chicken, the fries were delicious as was the salad that came with it. The Cajun sauce was very good and helped the chicken as it was a bit dry, white meat. Drinks: Had the top one on the cocktail menu, it was refreshing and nice. Service: It was great and over the top in the best way. They danced, they brought drinks, they refilled drinks, they took your pics/videos, they made the lights flicker with the music, they did it all. Ambiance: Before 2pm I would describe as fancy vibe with white table clothes, even a bit stuffy maybe. After 2pm, the lights are dimmed, the dj starts spinning awesome tunes and sparklers start coming out with bday bottles. Everyone dances, everyone has fun but didn't see anyone get sloppy. Nope or Dope: Dope, if you're looking for good drinks and a good time in a upscale/classy environment come here!

Alexandra made our night. Wonderful employee. So efficient, pleasant and just outright impressive! Excellent food, fun ambiance, wonderful date night! We had the summer risotto and tartar for apps and entrees were Cajun chicken and Dover sole special. I'm not sure how it's possible to make chicken so delicious. I've heard about this signature dish but it sure delivered. So tasty, tender, juicy-and definitely generous! Couldn't finish it! Dover was deboned tableside (by the lovely Alexandra) and was spectacular (pricey at $110 but definitely out of this world). Apple tart was ok. Ice cream was delicious. We had some lovely French Chardonnay which complemented the meal perfectly! Highly recommend for a special date night!

Always perfection. I love their famous Cajun chicken that is so moist and an extremely generous portion with crispy fries and fresh salad. The wine selection is excellent and so are the deserts. The ambiance is elegant but upbeat. Seating is comfortable and service is impeccable. It's always a pleasurable experience.

Food 3/10 The duck came out cold and they didn't even bother giving us the right knife to cut it. I had to ask for a sharper knife. The charcuterie board was just plain sad. Overpriced. I'm very disappointed. Service 1/10 I came after going to the gym, and the place did not say they had a dress code, but the host was clearly judging me he looked at my fit up and down. It was extremely disrespectful and rude. Atmosphere 4/10 It was a nice space, but I felt suffocated in there.

It's a love/hate relationship between Le Bilboquet and I. The food is ok/good but the ambiance is usually what makes me choose another spot for lunch. It's loud inside- like a cafeteria- and the small tables are practically on top of one another. I won't recommend to friends.

Everything was spot on, food, service and ambiance. The truffle risotto, Cajun chicken and the duck were outstanding. The desserts were the icing on the cake (pun intended) Looking forward to our next visit.

Upper eastside establishment that has a dresscode sign on the door and website to dress to impress. Ok food but you're paying top dollar for the scene (and to be seen) Be prepared to spend a pretty penny for your meal especially if you want to have a drink with it, which you will because it just seems like you should. At 2 pm Sunday afternoon the party starts, music, sparklers dancing girls, I've been to clubs with this atmosphere, seems a bit gimmicky. Surprisingly we were not rushed out the door so I'd give them a plus on service for that. Beautiful restaurant, if you feel like going to Paris but find yourself in NYC, make a reservation here.

Escargots from the lunch menu. Sancerre. The can water is mine

We sat outside for a quick dinner before a Broadway show. I appreciated that our server asked if we were going to see a show, to make sure that we were on time for it. We only got entrees and drinks, and loved them. I got the Beef Short Ribs with buttered egg noodles & roasted rainbow carrots (5/5), which I highly recommend. The RW menu was nice and well worth it, but as for me, I saw something else that I would rather have than the choices on the RW menu. I decided to go with the duck confit, but I did not read the menu thoroughly to see what side it came with. When it came out I saw it was with Flageolet bean Ragout which unfortunately I cannot eat, so I had to let Anna our server know. I was hoping she would keep the duck and just replace the side, but it looked like they made a completely new order, what service. My wife and son both ordered from RW menu and chose the boeuf bourgigninon which was so delicious, very tender beef and smooth mashed potatoes. We decided to also order escargot and French onion soup. Our service was just amazing from Anna our main server and the support servers who brought out our orders and to those who made sure our glasses were never empty. Of course the prefixe dessert was also delicious. Just super happy we learned that it was restaurant week and that we were able to experience it.

The wonderful lady who was singing and playing the piano did a really good job, it's such a romantic place. The food was good and I split a bottle of wine with my partner. We ordered off the pre-fix menu and added oysters on top. The oysters were so good and I really liked the vinegar. For the appetizers, it was a beet salad and pate. The pate was SO good, I get it again to be honest. Then came the entrees, we ordered the medium well steak frites and pan seared stripped bass. The steak came out rare and the fish was okay, it could have been a bit more seasoned for my personal taste. I traded dishes with my partner because I can't eat rare steak but he can. We also got the peach ice cream dessert and the dessert of the day which was a coconut gelatin(?) dish and it was AMAZING. Overall experience was good, the only thing that was kinda a miss was the entrees.

I was at this bistro, open since 1949, with a group a while ago. I had also gone in 2016, or…read moresomething similar, so it had been a while. The service was friendly, and as is typical for a spot like this, most of the clientele was on the older end. I don't believe anyone in our group had a drink apart from an iced tea, and after ordering, they brought out some bread with some butter. I wish the sliced baguette was warm, or at least the butter was slightly heated (or better yet whipped), but it worked to whet the appetite. In terms of food, they have a $45 pre-theater prix fixe, but we were there past 6:30, so we ordered à la carte. My appetizer was the tasty $15 Pâté de Campagne, or homemade country pork spread. The portion was much larger than expected, and it was served with some greens, cornichons, and some Dijon mustard. There was a good amount of fat in it, which made it rich and gave it a nice mix of textures. The cornichons, greens, and Dijon helped with the richness by either pairing with the pâté or by cleansing the palate. The leftover bread also went well. Overall, I liked it a lot. My main was a dish that doesn't appear to be on the menu anymore. This was the Filet de Bar Grillé au Champagne for $34, consisting of a filet of branzino with mixed vegetables and a champagne beurre blanc sauce. While not the biggest portion, the skin was nicely crispy, and the meat was tender and flavorful. The sauce on the bottom was slightly rich, but not so much that it overpowered the fish. I liked the vegetable mix as well, which added texture and additional flavors. Other people enjoyed the hanger steak, among other things. For dessert, I had the $12 Île Flottante, or Floating Island. This is a classic French dessert, consisting of a meringue on top of a crème anglaise, and I wish more places had it. The meringue had a soft texture, and it wasn't overly sweet even with the caramel. The crème anglaise was prepared properly as well, with my only possible complaint being that it lacked a bit of vanilla flavor, but that's just being picky. I vaguely remembered this place being good the last time I was there back in 2016 or so, but this time it was better. The Pâté was excellent, the fish was good, and the Floating Island was good as well.

Putting the food aside (which was VERY good), the place is beyond charming... like walking into your nonna's living room- and the staff was welcoming. It has been years since Ive had escorgot that I loved, but this brought me back. I had almost sworn off of it. My steak au-poivre was cooked to perfection and green peppercorn sauce was sublime. The fries were basic but in a good, I dare say perfect, way. My gf had the sole and, altho she says it wasnt earth shattering, liked it as well. The soufle was a bit of a novelty for me but worth a try. This place is Old School New York at its finest. P.S. We ordered a traditional gran marnier soufflé with our dinner order as it takes that amount of time to make it. I came for the duck confit. It was tasty with the right amount of crispy skin. My sister ordered the Moules Marinieres which I think was the winner. It came with fries and a few small dishes of green beans. The Buf Bourguignon was rich and hearty. I've been craving a soufflé, and I'm not an expert but I wish I hadn't poured all the sauce in as the mariner was fairly strong and almost overpowered the soufflé in flavor.
