The restaurant is small, but the overall vibe is incredibly chill. The owner and servers made us feel completely at ease--earning them major bonus points in my book! The daily specials for that day are pictured above; here is what we ordered: Appetizer: Mussels; Entrée: Duck Leg (as a main course). We also shared an Ontario Peach dessert. Every single dish was delicious (though the dessert was perhaps slightly less impressive compared to the other two)! We also sampled items from the regular menu: Appetizer: Gravlax (Salmon); Entrée: Magret de Canard (Duck Breast) and a pork dish (I've forgotten the exact name...). Everything mentioned above was fantastic; we polished off every last morsel of the side dishes--they were absolutely mouthwatering! There wasn't a single dud in the bunch. Finally, we ordered a cocktail. All told, our order consisted of two of the $48 "Appetizer + Entrée" combos, one $60 "Appetizer + Entrée + Dessert" combo, and one cocktail. The total bill--after tax but before tip--came to around $190 for the three of us. We all left feeling absolutely stuffed! This place is a true hidden gem--a high-value, honest-to-goodness French bistro. I loved it!

Great food good service really easy to find a table. Very accommodating for kids and steaks were cooked exceptionally well. A lot of people ordered the steaks, but their wine selection is very spot on as well.

It is a very small but cozy restaurant with only a few tables. The wine prices were fairly reasonable and the one we ordered was quite good. The service was very good and friendly but due to the limited kitchen staff who cooked everything to order, the food dishes came out very slow. There was a lot of time in between the appetizers and main courses. For the appetizers, we had the escargots with puff pastry, the charcuterie board, the gravlax and the pate. The escargots were good. The gravlax was good and the whipped cream cheese was a nice touch. The charcuterie board was really good and had a good combination. The pate was the same as what was provided on the charcuterie board. For the mains we had the lamb, the fish special, and the duck breast. They were decent overall but nothing extraordinary. For dessert, we had the poached pear, the apple pudding with caramel sauce and the crème brûlée with pistachios. The desserts were delicious. Overall a good evening.

Amazing! We went there for our 1 year anniversary trip in Toronto, we were looking for fine dining without feeling overwhelmed with being too high class. This is a very quaint restaurant that is charming but also makes you feel classy. The ambiance was just right for a romantic dinner. We booked it a few weeks in advance and they welcomed us no problem when we got there. The duck was exquisite, and my partner's pickerel was a very good portion and the flavours meshed very well. Our appetizer beforehand was a creamy cod dish that we are still drooling over today. We went for the dessert on special that day and were not disappointed! Service was great, I would definitely go again.

We had the paté appetizer from the preset. It is sooooo good. Two of us had the steak frites, which were perfect. And our friend had the duck. Which she loved. Our desserts were fantastic. Our server was very kind and cordial. The food and service were excellent but for one issue. We booked our reservation three weeks in advance yet we were sat at the weird table beside the entrance of the kitchen. It has smaller chairs and a narrow bench. I noticed couples seated at tables for four and I just thought it could have been more thoughtfully arranged. Fortunately we were able to be moved however we would have to leave on a tight timeline. It all worked out in the end. And our server made everything very pleasant.

Great spot in Parkdale serving French course menu fare. Generous portions, fair bit of seasonal ingredients, and excellent service during our first experience here. Started with steamed mussels and calamari with some sourdough. Calamari was a touch overdone. Mussels were great and plentiful. Mains were very filling and delicious! We had the duck and seasonal rabbit. The proteins were cooked perfectly - very tender. Dessert was just ok. The small and intimate restaurant feels warm and welcoming and our server was very attentive. Definitely worth a try!

Had a really great meal here recently - first of all, the restaurant is really cozy and a great option for dates and small groups of friends. The decor and ambiance is relaxed and very warm. Our server was quite helpful and recommended their daily specials to us. We ended up getting a 3-course set ($58) and a 2-course set ($48) with the only difference being dessert. The appetizers were pretty good but nothing outstanding - the calamari was especially underwhelming and portion was a little small. The escargot was quite yummy with a creamy mushroom sauce. The entrees were both very nice portions and delicious! I highly recommend the duck breast and it was probably my favorite dish of the night. Last but definitely not least, the berry dessert was a great way to finish off the meal. I definitely recommend this place for a cute date night or fun meal with friends :)

We came here to celebrate a special event. The restaurant was small and packed with people for dinner. We chose the 2-course menu per person, and decided to eat the cake we brought instead of ordering dessert here (cake open fee was $25). The food was mediocre here, with portion on the smaller side for appetizers, and missing some cooking fundamentals for the mains. Most of the appetizers were not bad. The tuna salad was refreshing. Smoked fish and platter with pate both tasted good, but portion was tiny. The squid tasted really plain though. When it comes to the main course, there are misses everywhere. The lamb was relatively the best among all, but was served with really small portion and majority of the meat was fats. Duck was undercooked, meat quality was not good. It was very hard to chew. Fish was okay but not wowing. The worst was the pork. The cooking fundamentals is to have chicken or pork well done to avoid any food poisoning. However, the middle of the pork meat was still quite red!!! This is not okay cooking. Overall, the service and food quality was mediocre. I wouldn't consider revisiting.

The environment was very cozy/relaxing. It was my second time coming to this restaurant but it amazed me once again. From the fact that the sign is slightly hidden from a far, to the rich, bold and tasty flavours from all the dishes I've had, they were worth coming here for. They are open for brunch and dinner but I suggest you come here for dinner (although I never came here for brunch). The late night vibe is really relaxing to experience alongside the amazing food. They close at 10pm. As far as ordering from their menu, think of this place as a course menu type of bistro. (Appetiser, Entree (and Dessert if your tummy desires lol)) The servers always checked on us and were very friendly. Worth tipping a lot. Also, p.s. the 3 course menu looks like there's a lot but if you feel hungry right before going there, 3 will be enough. But if not, might be better to stick with the 2 course (only Appetiser and Entree).

Took my boyfriend here for a birthday dinner and wow, I'm really glad I found this spot. Thank you to my fellow Yelpers! & Thanks to Ryan and the lovely lady who served the entire front of house. So efficient and wonderful! More on this later!! Lovely French cuisine here. Simple and delicious! It's prefix menu style which I actually quite like. It seems the menu has changed and they have different specials, so it keeps things interesting! Definitely was a fantastic value. We decided to go for the full 3 courses since it was our first time. I got the gravlax which is their homemade smoked salmon with a salad, bread and dollop of bourgin. Delicious!! Really beautiful flavor without being overly salty. We also ordered the special to share which was pate en croute I believe. It was also delicious, serviced with grainy mustard, gerkins and salad. For mains I got the duck and my boyfriend got the lamb. I enjoyed my lamb but I did find the sauce on both a tad salty. I loved the roasted veggies and omg they made the layered potatoes. My favorite!!! For dessert, I got the mille feuilles aux framboise. It was absolutely heavenly and I wish it would stay in the menu forever!!! We also ordered the chocolate mousse with amaretto. So rich and not overly sweet. I almost never like desserts and this was two for two win!! What a fantastic way to finish the meal. Ryan and the really wonderful lady server whose name I didn't catch (sorry!!) We're fantastic. We had one hiccup which was unfortunately lipstick on my glass from the last patron. A huge no no for me once I see this but they were quick to apologize and address it. And they were fantastic the rest of the night. Checked in just enough, and I think what I loved most is that they looked like they were having fun. They were enjoying their night and joking with the patrons, being so welcoming. I can't remember the last time I saw a server that wasn't completely stressed or rushed. This made the meal so much more enjoyable. A laugh here, fantastic bite of food there. 100% would recommend!!!

A quaint little restaurant in the west end of Toronto. Parking available on the streets or nearby residential streets. They have a patio area in front of the restaurant but it was a chilly day to sit outside for brunch. The tables inside were tight. No much decor with a semi open kitchen. The service was great. No rush at all too. I ordered the duck confit benny which was delicious. The egg was poached to my liking and the sauce on the side. The salad had a light taste to it which compliment the duck meat. The best part was the roasted potatoes. Not a big portion, which I would have eaten another portion. Love those potatoes!! My friend liked her spinach pancake. A different take to the usual sweet pancake. Verdict: I wouldn't mind going back to try their dinner menu.

Amazing cozy lil french kitchen serves selected dishes which has a couple of vegetarian options too. The best deal it the prefix menu served ! The taste is excellent! The portions are generous! I tried their squash soup, tartiflette vegetarian! Some bread( which is not complimentary) , wine. Everything was outstanding. You have to try their prefix menu, amazing deal for gourmet french food. My hubby tried Duck Cotnfiet and he loved it too. It a small place with I guess around 30 people capacity and is always busy, call ahead before you drive there and finding a parking could be a challenge so leave early :)

A simple old school bistro with legitimate French fare. The sort of place you would love to have within a few blocks. These have pretty much disappeared from the scene in New York. Glad to see they survive in Toronto. You have a choice of two courses for $48, or 3 for $58, and you can decide at the end. I went with the charcuterie as a starter. This included a nice piece of pate de campagne, duck rillettes and what was described as "Auvergne prosciutto" - but turned out to be two slices of a coarse salami - not sure if this was intended as a bit of humor. This came with two slices of bread, which were completely inadequate to handle the generous portion of rillettes and pate, so I was glad I had plumped for the extra sourdough bread. La Portena had a nice appetizer size salade Nicoise as her starter, with seared tuna. No complaints there. For a main course, I had the daily special, confit du canard, which came with mashed potatoes. I believe the sauce contained port. This was perfectly executed, simple French food. La Portena had the fish of the day (probably halibut) served over ratatouille. Again nothing fancy, basic well cooked French food. We shared one dessert, a flourless chocolate cake -again nothing out of the ordinary but good. Beverages were the house cocktail, glasses of the Berthier Sauvignon Blanc and Cotes du Rhone. Service was excellent. Un bon repas!

We started with cocktails -- the Beurre Noisette (Brown Butter Spring Mills Whisky, Spice Rack Demerara, Aged Bitters) and the Eau Poivre (Tromba Blanco Tequila, Del Maguey Vida Mezcal, Cointreau, White Pepper, Lime, Cucumber Bitters). Both drinks were beautifully presented and tasted delicious. For starters, we had two French Onion Soups (rich beef broth, red wine, caramelized onion, toasted baguette, and Gruyère cheese), which were seriously comforting and, in my opinion, some of the best French onion soups in the city. We also shared the escargots with garlic, butter, parsley, lemon, and brioche -- classic and satisfying. For mains, my date ordered the Duck Confit Cassoulet with Herbes de Provence sausage, lardons, white beans, tomato, parsley, and jus, and I had the Beef Bourguignon with braised beef, pomme purée with carrots, pearl onions, mushrooms, and bordelaise. Both dishes were beautifully cooked and rich in flavour. We finished with crème brûlée (vanilla bean custard with Chantilly and berries) and lemon curd cheesecake (pâte sablée with lemon curd and blueberries). Both desserts were a lovely finish to the meal. The place was busy without feeling chaotic, and the service was friendly and professional, even if a little slower than I expected. A nice touch right from the start: complimentary coat check (always appreciated in the winter), and validated parking -- just remember to provide your license plate to the host. We ordered the featured cocktail (big rock candy) and spirit free to enjoy throughout our meal. The cocktail was on the sweet side but the tequila really helped balance out the sweetness. It also came with a mini skewer of candy that you can munch on. For starters, we ordered the beef tartare and the smoked trout tostada. Both were beautifully presented and well balanced. The beef tartare was rich and clean in flavour, while the smoked trout tostada felt lighter and refreshing, making it a great contrast to begin the meal. For mains, we both chose the Alberta beef. The beef itself was cooked nicely and very tender, but paired with the mashed potato and truffle mushroom cream sauce, the dish leaned on the heavier side. Comforting and indulgent, though a bit rich after a full appetizer course. Dessert wrapped things up on a high note with the chocolate tart and pudding chômeur. Both were beautifully presented, with the chocolate tart decadent but not overly sweet, and the pudding chômeur warm and nostalgic... a cozy, satisfying way to finish the meal. Overall, Canoe's Winterlicious dinner offered a well-rounded experience with elevated flavours, thoughtful service, and one of the best views in the city. Perfect for a belated birthday treat or any special occasion where you want to slow down and enjoy the moment.

The server we had was amazing, attentive, and quite busy that day. He answered all of our questions, and had some good suggestions. The seating is always comfortable and the view is second to none in the city. The food was cooked and prepared well, the skill and technique was very noticeable with every bite. The steak was cooked to perfection, the potatoes that came with this main were also impressive with their strong but robust flavour of thyme, and it wasn't greasy, just fried perfection. The app, I had the stracciatella cheese with rye and the grapes were blanched I think and the skins were peeled off, this was a very delicate dish, not very flavourful, but the textures is really where you'll see the layers come out. The grapefruit tart was simple the best way to end the meal. It was decadent for sure, but worth every bite

The restaurant has a lively and charming atmosphere that's hard to leave behind ‍ One dish in particular that stands out is the foie gras. Golden, crispy toast topped with sweet and tangy maple syrup is incredibly appetizing. Another must-try is their signature dish--double portion of musk duck. Three slices of tender, juicy duck with crispy, delicious skin. Three slices of duck are really too little.

And they don't accept tips, which is very wallet-friendly, haha. The appetizer, the sous-vide egg, was very unique. The combination of a soft-boiled egg, cheese and corn sauce, Italian pork lard crisps, and sour dough was an explosion of flavor--a rich and complex experience in both texture and taste. The confit salmon had a texture between raw and medium-rare, not dry at all, but not as raw as sashimi. The dry-aged steak was incredibly tender and juicy! Every bite was bursting with the aroma of the fat. The six courses cost a total of 115 pence, and the servers didn't neglect the guests despite the lack of a tipping policy.

The location is at the new CIBC Square Food Court and this restaurant is with a Michelin Guide recommendation. The staff was attentive, she messaged me a day before to check-in on our preferences. The restaurant was small than I expected with bar setting, sofa tables, and regular tables. I love the atmosphere there, classy and cozy. We ordered the 3-courses Winterlicious menu. We had Octopus Carpaccio, Forie Gras Parfait as appetiser. Both were delicious, a little bit sour for the Carpaccio, but the Parfait was perfect. For Main, we had Short ribs steak and house-made pasta, the portion of the short ribs steak was a little bit small, but the steak is tender. For dessert, the waitress recommended us for Biscoff Cake, which was a unique item for Winterlicious. I love the cake, it was soft and creamy. Overall, it was a great dining experience, good for dating and celebration.

However, the restaurant cleared out within about 30 minutes once the rush was over. This was Aloette's first year participating in Licious, and their lunch menu offered either 2 courses ($39) or 3 courses ($46). My friend and I decided to share one dessert between us. Everything we ordered was delicious and beautifully presented. The wedge salad was super fresh, and the foie gras parfait was very well executed. Both the signature Aloette burger with Beaufort cheese and the fried chicken sandwich were excellent. But the highlight was the lemon meringue pie! The lemon curd and meringue were some of the best I've ever tasted. Oh, I almost forgot to mention their cheddar cheese bread! Sooo good! I'm officially a fan of Aloette!
