After a long time on my bookmarks list, we planned to meet our monthly lunch group here today. There were six of us today (our group varies from four up to ten), and they do not take reservations so when we arrived first at 11:25am, we were told it could be an hour wait! Yikes! But we put our name in since we drove a while from the west to get here; once everyone arrived, we all agreed to wait.
Other parties of two to four people were being told 35-40 minutes. The reason was that Le Andos has a relatively small dining area and only one table for seating six, that had four seated when we were there and they hadn't ordered yet. All of the other tables and booths were for seating two to four. Basically, we had to wait for a booth to open up with an adjacent two-seat table that could be pulled over. It was almost exactly an hour wait for us until this happened. So if you have a group larger than four, be prepared for a longer-than-
normal wait.
But once we were finally seated, we began to see and experience the reasons for such high ratings for Le Andos Cafe. Jessica quickly took our drink orders and brought them to the table. Even though the place was packed and had more people waiting, she never made us feel rushed. Once we had finally decided on our choices from their extensive menu, she took the orders and got them into the kitchen. Then our group got back to our discussions on how to solve the problems of the world.
My wife decided to keep her calorie count down and ordered just a Fruit Bowl...so that she could splurge on a Caramel Machiatto Cappuccino based on some Yelper's picture labeled as Caramel Hot Chocolate until we were told they don't offer it but could make Caramel Machiatto Cappuccino. I chose a regular drip coffee for my drink and found it to be good enough to drink it black without additives.
I couldn't decide what I wanted even though I had studied the Yelp photos for over a month. I finally decided on the Southern Omelette that came with Hash Browns and Wheat Toast; I also added a side of Bacon. As we continued our discussions while we waited for our food, Jessica made sure our drinks never ran out.
Then the food arrived! The Fruit Bowl my wife ordered got two thumbs up and she said everything tasted fresh and was one of the best she has had. My Southern Omelette was loaded with goodness, rolled in eggs, and then covered with Gravy, because everything is better with Gravy! The Hash Browns were perfection; crisp and crunchy outside and soft inside. The side of Bacon...well, just order it!
When we arrived and were told to expect an hour wait, we thought about going somewhere else...don't even think about it! There is a wait for several reasons: great food from a chef who really knows what he's doing, a patient and professional staff, and no pressure to quickly order, eat, and get out! Le Andos Cafe is a bit of a drive for us but we will definitely do it again! read more
