My wife and I have enjoyed Le Andos for several years. This is definitely our favorite place for breakfast for brunch on the east side.
FOOD: The menu is large enough to offer something for just about everyone. I like their variety of pancakes, crepes, waffles, and French toasts. My wife loves their omelets, and other savory egg dishes. We usually get breakfast, but the lunch items also look very good.
In addition to their main menu, their chalk board features a rotating selection of inventive items that are sure to delight. You could probably eat here every day for 6 months and never have the same thing twice.
SERVICE: In general, the wait staff is friendly, but they always seem to be a little overwhelmed since Le Andos is almost constantly busy. They aren't rude, but sometimes they aren't as attentive as most diners would like, especially if your waitress gets stuck running the register for a few minutes.
ATMOSPHERE: My biggest gripe about this place is just that it is way to small. As it has gained in popularity over the last few years, the owners have done very little to adjust. The suite next door is double the size of the current restaurant and has been vacant for a couple of years. This space is currently used by Le Andos the store 3 or 4 sets of outdoor dining furniture that are brought out in the summer to add a few additional tables to their capacity.
On the surface, this additional space looks like a great expansion opportunity for Le Andos. Frustratingly, the owners apparently don't have plans to take advantage of the extra available suite, despite the fact that the existing restaurant has become overly crowded.
It is not uncommon to have to wait for a table at Le Andos. There is very little room inside the restaurant, so patrons are often lined up near diners, near the bathroom, or outside. Some people even choose to wait in the parking lot in their cars when the weather is poor.
To make matters worse, the register and hostess stand are located at the back of the restaurant, so new customers are often confused about where to go and end up waiting awkwardly near the front door, further adding to the cramped feeling inside Le Andos.
Aside from the crowding issues, the restaurant is generally unremarkable. The decor is very plain and is consistent with most family restaurants in the area.
SUMMARY: Delicious, inventive breakfast and brunch. Popularity mixed with a small restaurant footprint makes for an awkward, cramped dining experience. Despite its flaws, Le Andos is still worth a visit. But, be sure to arrive early to try to beat the crowd. read more
