Le 51 was kind of a nearby / cheap option for lunch, except that the plat du jour will often take over an hour (when it should be served in about 5 minutes) to get to your table, which completely invalidates the idea of a lunch menu. They routinely sit as many people as possible without being able to service those tables.
Then there was the "happy hour" debacle.
They mess up your order. They say stuff like "well, the previous waitress f*cked it up, but she's gone, so we can't do s*hit".
Oh, and for some reason they don't understand that they need to sell stuff over there. After you finish your first drink, you'll have to wait a good half hour until someone deigns to ask you if you need anything else.
And on top of it, the waiter has the nerve to go "je m'en bat les couilles" - verbatim / literally - about the details of the bill.
Which is possibly the rudest thing you could ever say to any. Single. Person. Ever.
I've never, ever, seen such a lack of concern or care about a customer's request to have the mere detail of their bill.
That one waiter has to be the rudest person in all of Paris, all possible Parisians included.
I would suggest you patron Le 51 if you're looking to be abused and belittled, or if you want to wait half an hour for anything.
Otherwise, there are plenty of other places nearby that'll be happy to take your money, for quicker and much friendlier service. And in any case, they will never, ever throw their "couilles" in your face. read more
