This is one of the first restaurants my Husband and I went to when we felt comfortable enough to actually sit outside and eat a meal from a restaurant. We were walking our very large dog and stumbled on it when we noticed they served oysters! The staff was immediately friendly not only to us but to our beloved pet who is sometimes not greeted at all. We had to wait a little but one of the waitresses came right over to us and asked if we wanted a cocktail while we waited, which of course we did! (The Spicy Margarita was delish Erika, thanks for recommending!) The rest is history, we've been back several times over the course of the summer and I've even invited friends to come because the food and service are impeccable. To be honest the food is so good we can't move past the appetizers because when we go there we're so hooked on them. When I did go with one of my friends, she insisted on getting the halibut entre which I must say was mouth-watering. Every time we go we're greeted like friends and family, the staff has gotten to know us and it's just a really nice feeling to know you can go somewhere, feel special and enjoy a guaranteed yummy fresh meal! Avoid at all costs. We had met the owner on several occasions and he seemed nice enough but our recent experience with his manager was very unpleasant. We had an inside reservation but this manager was a total control freak and after making us wait around she kept trying to seat us at a rickety table on the sidewalk outside that no one wanted. We didn't want to eat our dinner surrounded by drunken people staggering around on the sidewalk and fumes from passing cars. The outside table and chairs looked like they were purchased at a garage sale and didn't motivate us. The manager didn't show any respect for us and she probably thought she was Julia Roberts with her shiny silver mini skirt which was just tacky. If you like paying to be abused then this is definitely your place. But I can think of better restaurants with tastier food to mistreat you. read more

My group came here after volleyball on the beach, so we were tired, drenched in sweat and sand and massively hungry. We ordered some apps, the soft-shell crab and dumplings, which were both great. I'm not too fond of eating soft-shell crab because it kinda weirds me out, nevertheless it was tasty and was layered on a bed of great sauce. I ordered a Stella and the zoodles dish. All of our entrees came out at the same time. I really enjoyed the zoodles and seafood dish. Some places overcook the zoodles (zucchini noodles) not understanding they are best cooked with a quick pan fry, but LB has it right. The seafood sauce was well marinated and mixed well with the clams, mussels and shrimp. The service was great as well, the server was attentive but not overbearing and the chef came around a few times to chat and answer any questions we had. read more

We recently dined at LB Social for the first time with friends who had highly recommended it, and they were absolutley right! The size is deceiving. It looks about the size of a pizza place from the street, but when you enter there is a dining area to the right. Behind that is a lovely curved bar, and then two steps up to a larger dining area. And then there's the food. The menu selection is varied and interesting. For instance, we started with the appetizer special of the day, Steak Tartare, which was excellent. It is also rarely seen on any menu. I had the Pappardelle Carbonara, which had shrimp, bacon and brussel sprout leaves. My husband had Braised short rib orrechiette, another interesting and great choice. For a Wednesday night, the restaurant was fairly busy and seemed to be filled with locals. Matt, the owner/chef, made the rounds of all the tables, checking to see if his guests were enjoying their meals. Our server, Olivia, was bubbly, informed and attentive. We came here with a group of 12 and the Owners were very accommodating. They had us seating and attendees to us promptly. Drinks were on the table when we sat down along with a round of shots for our friends birthday. The food was delicious and reasonably priced! I order to lobster roll, which was delightful and very filling. We also have the clams and octopus for an appetizer. Over all the environment, food and staff were above our expectations! I have been here twice and while the food is delicious, the bartender has no social grace. He is unpleasant and unwelcoming . The first time I was there, my husband I wanted to have a drink at the bar and we were " scolded" by him for our seat selection- he wanted the ends clear . I understand that, but there is a polite and welcoming way to say that instead of "you can't sit there." Tonight we again tried to sit at the bar and walked to two empty chairs. Instead of a "hello" or " welcome" we were accosted by the bartender with " those seats are reserved, are you the reservation?" Again, I understand reservations , but there was nothing to indicate the two seats at the bar were reserved but more importantly, his gruff manner was so unwelcoming that we left. A good bartender can make or break a restaurant and no matter how good the food, why should I return if the vibe when I walk in is unfriendly? We left and went to Baldoria where we sat at the bar, and talked with the pleasant, upbeat bartender over two bottles of wine and a great dinner. People want to be valued and welcomed - the food is important, but the experience and feelings we have at a place dictate whether we come back. read more

The short rib is just about the most tender, melt-in-my-mouth piece of meat I've ever eaten. I ate it joyfully solely with my fork. The sauce was so flavorful, I would have liked for them to pour it in a wine glass for me. Before that, my companion and I shared the French onion soup which is something I save for only places that can make it well. The cheese was a delicious Gruyere or similar and the onions were so yummy and not at all too salty. And we then shared a tiny portion of lamb sliders. These two were a little overcooked, but tasty and a nice palate cleaner for that short rib. From decor to food, this place is a definite win! Delicious food, great ambiance and fantastic drinks. The service wasn't anything special but definitely wasn't poor - the place could definitely use some more staff since the it's busy but they handle it well with what they have. The chef came over and asked us how everything was and he even helped his staff clean up and handle the bill. HIGHLY RECOMMEND the pear and beet salad! But nothing we had was short of excellent. Also a great cosmo! All four of us were satisfied with everything we ordered. Also extremely impressed that they had a sommelier walking around. I loved my time at LB social from start to finish! Our waitress was awesome she was so attentive and really nice... I came here with a friend and we split everything: bottle of wine, steak tartare, chicken dumplings, and the seafood carbonara.... I LOVED their steak tartare... it was amazing and perfectly prepared with capers and the egg on top really did it for me. The silky feel and taste of the yolk mixed with the tartare really amped it up a notch. The dumplings were gone in two seconds... yes they do look just like every other Asian spots appetizer but the meat inside was chicken! And it had a really nice taste, perfect for splitting (order came with 6). Lastly, the seafood carbonara.... I'm actually not a pasta person sadly... but this pappardelle was so light tasting, not dense like most pasta. I was worried Bc of the thicker noodle but we loved it. They split our portion in the back with out the hassle of a splitting charge so that was great and much appreciated (I hate when places do that).. the shrimp that were tossed in were also cooked perfectly and they were juicy (no tails!, another plus). I like that this place paid attention to their detail.. I saw a lot of what people were ordering and each plate looked better than the next... they had a really nice menu. I've been dining at LB Social for many years. Whether I'm going there solo, with friends, family or clients, the service, food and ambience is always top-notch. The food is consistently delicious, the staff is always friendly and accommodating. I highly recommend this gem for any occasion. I had my baby shower there and they did such a beautiful event. I highly recommend their chicken meatballs, steak, tartare and eggplant Parmesan. Also, the pot to crème or sorbet is my go to for dessert. Don't eat here. The wait staff is fine but the owner/manager is awful. So many things went wrong tonight and no consolation. First I ordered a Manhattan and received 1/2 of a Manhattan. I ordered another one and jokingly asked if my glass would be full this time - no I got another 1/2 Manhattan. Ok no Problem I can live with that. apps were fine. Our Entree's came out and $42 special Lobster Fra diavolo with Andouille was a bowl of Spaghetti. I ordered special Orecchiette with short ribs - I got Short Ribs with Spinach no Orecchiette. I send mine back and they bring back same dish and say the Orecchiette is coming out so I eat some of the Short Ribs. Nancy is searching for Lobster and Andouille in her bowl of Chef Boy AR dee Spaghetti and none to be found. Really a bowl of Spaghetti for $42. We express our displeasure and send back the Spaghetti. Now I'm asked if I want mine to go and I say OK. They throw out my 1/2 eaten short ribs and wrap my untouched Orecchiette - yes really. I'm trying not to explode and explain all this to the Colorado girl and she offers us a desert or another 1/2 drink which I declined. I said no just do something for us on the check so we can get out of here. They charged us full price for everything. Nancy did not eat her dinner and I ate 1/2 but we are charged for everything at full price. Close to $200 tab for a horrible night out. I gave a super generous tip like I always do because it's not the waitress fault. The owner should be ashamed of his unwillingness to adjust the check. I've been there a few times before but will never go back. I love LBSocial! I have eaten there and had food delivered. It is my favorite restaurant in Long Beach. The ambiance in the restaurant is cozy & welcoming. When having food delivered it comes well wrapped so that it feels like I'm eating it in the restaurant. The only complaint I have is the type of bread & ricotta spread. I would prefer a type of bread that has a crunch to it. I find the bread tasteless & too soft but that is the only thing that I would think needs improvement. read more

By far the WORST service I have ever had! We were there over 3 hours and had to flag someone down to clear plates, fill waters and take orders. No one came by to check on us after food was served(it took over an hour for food to come. I did not like the zucchini noodles and wanted to order something but, we were ignored.
