This place is a score. Excellent food, the friendliness service ever! When we arrived we were promptly greeted by Matt the owner, in less then 5 minutes we were seated outside and in the new covid world that was exactly where we wanted to be. Matt hung around for some friendly conversation and we quickly felt as if we had known him for years . He took our drink order and they arrived right away. Shortly after that Erika came over and took our order. So many great choices we ordered half the menu (not kidding). The steamed clams with andouille and collard greens were some of the best I ever had, so good in fact I mopped it all up with the bread it came with. Fresh oysters were icy cold, baked clams were fresh and tasty, bacon slab was candied to perfection. Chicken Scarp had a rich, hearty flavor, all were excellent. As if that wasn't enough, I remembered seeing the lobster salad go by and with everything being so good, I had to order one, so glad I did. Served chilled on a warmed roll with fresh crispy fingerling potato fries. Pricing here was very reasonable. I have to give extra props to Erica our waitress, an older couple wanted to dine but the kitchen had already closed. Erica got in the phone and found them a place to go. Awesome! We just had the most amazing take out Family Dinner from LBSocial!! Short Ribs (tender melt away delicious) with yummy spinach/oyster mushrooms and an incredible potato croquette that was crispy outside dusted with a bit of Parmesan (?)with a perfectly blended creamy center. On the side was a beautiful red wine sauce. We chose the chopped salad (included with the dinner) also another winning combo of flavors including corn, grape tomatoes cucumbers and provolone cheese.. And we found a lovely surprise gift of dessert when we got home. There's outside tables available now but you can't beat the food or the price wherever you chose to enjoy this great meal. read more

This is my new go-to spot in Long Beach. I cannot believe I just discovered it a few weeks ago! I have been back several times since, and the food is consistently amazing. The steak tartare is truly one of the stars of the menu and probably the best I have had (and I have had a lot of them.) This restaurant is fabulous. It compares well with any restaurant in Manhattan or anywhere else in the world. In addition to great food and remarkably fresh seafood, this is the friendliest staff I've ever encountered. Further they are family friendly, child friendly, and truly food allergy friendly. What a meal!! Took a friend to dinner at LB Social last night and need to share my experience - we walked in and the place was so alive we were greeted by Brian the manager and he took us to our table. The server was so professional and the staff was so attentive - she told us about the specials and brought us our drinks. Everyone started with the chopped salad with corn and this should not be missed. Our table of five ordered all different entrees. The table had filet mignon, chicken parm, chicken meatballs with zucchini linguini and the fish special. Matt the owner came to our table to say hello - love that he comes out from the kitchen!! My fiancee and I came here for restaurant week and were confused the whole time. We aren't sure what all the fuss is about. Echoing what others said, there didn't seem to be any one person assigned to our table, and so within a minute of each other, two waitresses asked us if we wanted drinks and a bus boy and waitress asked if ice water was okay for us. This all happened after the man who greeted us asked us to choose a table in the front or back. We went with the back and were about to sit when a woman, who we presumed to be the hostess, told us we couldn't sit there. She then asked if we had a reservation (which we had already told the man who brought us to the back) and after some confusion about where we should be sitting, we sat. This odd exchange is emblematic of what we felt was one of the defining characteristics of our experience: too many people involved in too many different things. On to the food. My fiancee liked the bread, and I thought it was okay. However, the spread provided was ... interesting. It was some ricotta-honey mixture that wasn't explained to us until after we finished our bread and it was taken away. My biggest issue with it was the frozen chunk in the middle. Chopped salad was good. We both enjoyed that. It was fresh and tasty. For our main course, we both went with the roasted half-chicken. (**We were disappointed to discover when we saw the RW meeting that there was no steak, which seems to be common in many other RW restaurants in different municipalities. The menu was not available online and LB's web site said it changes daily). The chicken arrived in fairly unappealing fashion, dropped atop a corn/bean mixture that was somewhat sweet and okay. The chicken, though, was bland, if not tasteless. There was no salt and pepper on the table so we requested it. This was a major disappointment. The dark meat had more flavor than the white, but that's generally the way chicken goes. Dessert, although it took a long time to get, was good. We had the apple crisp and pumpkin cheesecake and we both enjoyed. The decor was mismatched: rustic up front and industrial in the back. It was just a strange experience. From the looks of this page there seem to be a lot of devotees of this restaurant. We won't be joining them, but wish everyone well. read more

Perhaps my favorite in Long Beach. This place has great food and excellent service. My girlfriend had a French martini and it was remarkably tasty. To start we had the octopus which was perfectly cooked. A cool thing about LB Social is that you can order as many baked clams as you want (we had 4). I've never seen that before. This is a bit overdue, as we have enjoyed many meals here in the past year since we've moved to Long Beach. Everything we've tried on the menu is delicious, particularly the steak tartare and the soft shell crab special. We had an outstanding experience at LB Social tonight. From the friendly and knowledgeable waitress that fully understood the menu and the ingredients... to Matt, the owner, who personally welcomed us... to the consistently delicious food. The clam, andouille and collard green appetizer was most memorable. The waitress recommended a spoon so I could completely finish off the leftover broth (Which I did!). I made a reservation for 4 last weekend. We arrived early so we decided to have some drinks at the bar and the bartender, dawn, was lovely! She was very knowledgable about their cocktails. When it was our turn to sit, we were seated by the nice young man who seemed to know a lot of the customers (marc I believe his name was). Everything was going great at this point, until we were seated and our server came and "greeted" us. Instead of starting off by asking us how we were, or reading us the specials, he immediately asked what we wanted to eat. It felt so rushed! He really didn't seem happy to be there, you could tell by the look on his face. You could literally feed off his negative energy. When you're this miserable at a job, you should just quit. To no surprise, two of our orders came wrong. I ordered the boneless chicken scarpiello and there were pieces of bone in it. My fiance had ordered the grilled skirt steak well done but it came almost fucking raw. At that pointed we just wanted to leave. When he gave us our check he gave us the FAKEST smile in the world. You know those plastic fake ass smiles white girls do in high school. Terrible experience. Oh and I think his name was ryan..short and balding. The clientele did seem well dressed so I presumed this was more of a fancy restaurant, but obviously not. I've heard good things about this place, but don't believe the hype. read more

Was excited to try LB Social - as Long Beach could really use good F&B. The décor and set-up was appropriate and pleasing; however, the service still needs A LOTof work. We did not have one server, rather it seemed like everyone kept coming to our table and asking us the same exact questions - very disorganized. One waiter spilled water on another guest next to our table and proceeded to scream the F word in response. We were asked if we wanted flat or sparkling water and little to our knowledge it was a trick question, because we were charged $8 for flat water when we really wanted tap water. The food was good and this is the reason we will come back; however, it took over two hours to dine here because it was soooooo slow. Took 45-minutes to an hour to get our appetizers. There was cause for just about every rating (1-5) based on my initial visit to LB Social. We came in and shared a flatbread that was a clear 5 candied bacon, goat cheese fig, and melon. Everyone at the table raved about how good it was. As we finished the restaurant began to fill up and was so loud that we couldn't hold a good conversation. We waited a while for our main course which was disappointing. When it arrived I had a chicken parmagian special that was not quite hot and just ok. My wife has a zucchini pasta with seafood that she found delicious. Our friends had steaks which they said were good. Good enough to try again but not quite there yet as far as I am concerned. read more

Disappointing. While the decor is great and looks much better than Sugo, the food was very disappointing. Both of our entrees were extremely too salty. The grilled salmon with green pea risotto was inedible and the rare tuna was too salty as well. I was hoping for a great dining experience, but they just didn't deliver. read more
