DO NOT EAT HERE. DO NOT WORK HERE. After only four short days of working in this establishment I learned how revolting and unsanitary the expectation's of the kitchen are here at lazy turtle. Not only are all the back of house actual crackheads but they aren't pushed to follow any sanitary protocol! They store pre cooked spaghetti in a handwashing sink that is also doubling as a sink to thaw shellfish- right next to this is the bread they serve to y'all at dinner. On my second day here I witnessed the dishwasher profusely bleeding all over the kitchen he had blood smeared on the doors where servers walk in and out & he was hovering over the expo window where food was waiting to be brought out to customers regardless of the literal biohazard he was creating he was continuing to wash dishes for hours until management could find a replacement to come in. The door sat unwashed of blood for 30 minutes as servers "worked around it" Both the inside and outside bar have a noticeably foul smell due to drainage issues where the tap drain should be functioning properly which makes it unsettling to sit (or work!) at that bar top You have a 50/50 chance of your alcoholic drinks coming out good or bad. as you'll notice from other reviews this is an ongoing problem as most of their bartenders don't know how to make a simple martini. I watched my "trainer" make a lemon drop martini that came out the color of apple juice- she tasted it said "YUCK" then sent it out to be tasted by the customer (surprise surprise they sent that shit back) If you'd like to experience stomach pain & possible food borne illness after spending a large check at this place then come on down to lazy turtle read more

We have eaten here many times. Location is good. Menu and food are average. Today 5 of us met for lunch at 11:30. We ordered about 11:55: 2 salads, pasta dish, chicken sandwich and a sushi roll, before other tables had ordered. At 12:40, my wife had to leave for a 1:00 appt without her salad. Two of the 5 meals then came about 12:50. We got the last three about 1:30. The server was helpful and apologetic saying there was a "computer glitch." Meanwhile numerous tables that came after us had their meals and left. No manager or even the owner, who was working on umbrellas around us, ever came to see what the obvious problem was. I finally requested to see the manager When she came she offered to discount our salads. What a joke! I gave a cash tip to our server and went inside about 1:45 to pay because I'm not the "dine and dash" type. I again spoke to the manager expecting her to waive today's charges and have us come back again. Then the owner, who had been working around us for over an hour, joined the conversation and blamed the delay on the server for entering our order as "takeout" and refused acknowledge any management oversight or responsibility. I paid $63.40 which included a 4% credit card fee just to get out of there legally. I can assure you we will never go back. read more

I have driven pass this place many times and many times this place is packed. From the outside it's look is cool and clean projecting an upscale hangout bar and grill. When you open the door, it's a different story. The interior needs an update and the layout is confusing. There is a front desk, small rolling oyster bar, and then the main dining and bar area. The food was good. We had the Peruvian ceviche which is more of a modern ceviche (no corn or sweet potato), snapper Hemingway, and NY steak with sautéed Veggies. . The steak was the stand out dish of the evening. Although it wasn't a bad experience, it also wasn't a great one. Average/ slightly above average overall. We went in with high hopes, since we have fond memories of our first visit (we live an hour out). A couple of years have passed and unfortunately, the quality has gone way down while the prices have gone way up. The crab legs were left unfinished (the last bite was mush and super fishy, hence the unfinished legs), food was brought out willy nilly. First time here. We been wanting to try it out so it was our Anniversary and figured we try it. Mondays are usually slow nights to where you don't have to worry about wait. I ordered there special -was gonna order the filet but waitress recommended the lobster. Well, got the Lobster which was over cooked couldn't figure out the sauce that was on it. Both dishes were a bust. Mine came with a salad which was good but needed to be washed better cause had several bad pieces in there. Then it came with desert chose the apple pie which would've been really good if it was served warm or heated. We did have drinks wife had Prosecco which she liked. I like to try different drinks but like Mojitos so ordered there strawberry Mango mojito and it was so than I tried a Berry Bourbon Smash drink -let's say I couldn't even force myself to drink it -then I said let me try the chocolate martini with my apple pie that wasn't even good. Server was all over the place had to ask for waters 3 times. Atmosphere is nice maybe there standard drinks might be good -usually- I drink just a beer but didn't. Prices seem high for quality then on top of that bring cash cause they charge you 4% using your credit card or debit card which I don't mind paying if the food and drinks are worth the fee but it's not. So to start things off, I noticed that every time I come to this establishment to give it a chance, I realize that I get the same waiter who has the same stank attitude every single time I'm here. I don't know if he's just angry or hates his job, but to say that he Performs subpar is an understatement we came for a birthday and there was about 15 of us. It took forever for us to get our appetizers along with drinks and when the food came out, it wasn't even served together. The waiter never once apologized or tried to get a manager to rectify the situation , it was my friends birthday and she got her food last while everybody finished eating at that point. The sushi was absolutely foul. I dont know in what world where if you try to pick up a sushi roll the rice absolutely crumbles. i also noticed my friends sushi was more expensive than everybody else and she got five pieces that look like they were thrown on the plate. There was no avocado, no cucumber, no imitation crab in her sushi roll. That's what it stated on the menu. It almost seemed like they were trying to push us out of the restaurant, the sushi tasted like it had been sitting out for days And all four of our sushi rolls came out at different times for whatever reason after that I had given a birthday cake to the manager, saying that it was a surprise for the birthday girl and while knowing that she came out 20 minutes after we had finished eating and paying and said "so are you guys ready for cake?" right in front of my friend whose birthday it was on top of ruining the surpise the service Sucked beyond comprehension. this was a table of waiters and waitresses. Absolutely unacceptable and will NEVER be dining at this trash place ever again. The whole staff is a joke and so is the food. read more

We have dined at lazy turtle on several Occasions and most of the time the food has been very good. Today we decided to dine there for Christmas lunch...... ugh. I had surf and turf. The steak was warm to the touch not hot as if it just came off the grill. The veggies were delicious and piping hot.... The lobster looked beautiful but tasted weird. My whole party tasted it and said it tasted 'different'. I advised the server of this and she immediately apologized and asked if I wanted anything else. Um ... no thanks! She went away came back and asked if she could take the lobster as they wanted to 'taste ' it in the kitchen. I said sure. She removed my whole plate and as I indicated I wasn't done told me don't worry I will bring it back. She went to the kitchen and then kindly brought my plate back less the lobster. The manager came over to advise 'the owner tasted it, it seemed okay to him but they would refund me for the lobster. Which they did. The lobster bisque was unpleasant, even the table next to us commented on that. However the worst was the bathroom! The bathroom smelled heavily of sewage. You could smell it from outside the bathroom. I advised the hostess who looked very surprised at it, as if none of the servers that use that bathroom observed it or ever reported it. Sadly I think we will be giving them a pass for the foreseeable future. read more

Just horrible... Bartenders were dicks. Not busy enough for the snubs that my family got. There was like 4 people at the bar and it was 3:45pm. I get that maybe it was shift change and staff wanted to leave but not acceptable to act like you hate your job and don't want to open new tabs for parties. We were sitting at the tiki bar and immediately I was super grossed out at the bartender who put the soda gun directly on the lip of her water bottle that she had been drinking out of how disgusting.....please teach your staff proper hygiene and proper ways of getting water to rehydrate themselves because that is nasty and I'm pretty sure a health code violation. The bar didn't have draft beer and I refused to get anything from the soda gun....also had to wait 10 minutes before the bartender saw I didn't have a drink...not only did I have to wait for a drink, my family had to wait 25 min for the bartender to take our order...I guess holding a menu the whole time and trying to get their attention isn't enough to get service. Asked one of the staff members behind the bar if we could order and he said he can't do that...okay...so finally when we saw another staff member/bartender behind the bar, we got into a weird staring contest and finally I had to be like "can we order food??" He wasn't exactly happy about it but took it begrudgingly. It's a full menu bar so I didn't understand the drama... We ordered a chicken piccata, lamb lollipops, and a spicy tuna roll....waited ANOTHER 25 minutes and the same bartender who took our order comes up and goes "we don't have chicken. I guess they don't like you. What else do you want" ....um nothing now....and then 10 minutes later comes back up and goes "yeah we don't have lamb either"...ok so it took almost 45 minutes for you to get the memo you don't have chicken or lamb??? Did your POS not tell you about the meat? Did he forget to put it in?? And then finally the sushi roll came out about 10 minutes after we were told about the lamb situation. It was disgusting and tasted old. And my dad felt like he was going to get food poisoning and didn't finish it. The bartender didn't care and said he wasn't sure what was going on and wanted to go home.... Nice lol same here. So I guess if you want bottled beer, subpar drinks, old sushi, and great views.... i feel really bad i've never left a bad review before but i went here for mother's day and we had an awful experience... our server was great he really tried his hardest to keep us happy but the food was WAYYYY overpriced for average ass food. $20 for 4 pieces of shrimp. that's $5 for EACH SHRIMP?! the lobster roll was average and small af and overpriced as well. My grandmas order got messed up but the server was new so we don't want to put it on him! poor guy was still learning but when the food did come out after we all finished our meals , her fries were missing. then another 15 mins go buy and they bring out the wrong freaking fries.... again no shame on the service but the restaurant in general needs some serious management help. and pls for GODS SAKE humble yourself and lower the menu prices. even if i was starving i can't justify the food for their prices. read more

I went there for the first time (and it will be the last) with my wife and to have (hopefully) a good meal and watch my son in law to perfom live music on the deck on a Sunday afternoon. We sat down at a table on the deck and our server immediately tried to get us to order food, but we just wanted to have a couple of beers first. After that, he kept going inside but never bringing our drinks. After asking about them, we kept getting lame excuses like the bartender was busy and and the drinks would be coming soon. I'm talking for a good half hour.I finally got disgusted and went inside to see what was the problem. Our young server dude was in there chatting up the female barmaid while our drinks were now sitting there getting warm. So I had to retrieve my own beer. When he brought my wifes drink it was not what she ordered, so she had to wait even more. I decided then and there that I would not be ordering any expensive food at a place where the service is this bad, even though the guy kept coming over and asking if we were ready to order. Turns out he just wanted us to eat so he could get a big tip before his shift was over. I will never go back! I read the other reviews and agree with all the "not good" reviews. read more

I am literally so upset with this restaurant. It has been 17 years since our family has been together, and we chose Lazy Turtle for this momentous day! What a horrible choice!!! Our reservation was for 12 noon. After almost 2 hours and a complaint to management, we FINALLY got our appetizers. Minus 2 of which we were told 2 hours later they were out of. They offer unlimited mimosas for $23. Hahaha, good luck getting them. And they most certainly added them to the bill!!My husband waited 45 minutes for a coke, and he eventually went to the Bar to get it himself! I finally found a manager and complained, the OWNER LITERALLY TOLD HER TO STOP LOOKING AT ticket TIMES OF ORDERS!! Basically forget about customer service. This restaurant was most certainly not prepared for Mother's day, although they happily took our reservations!!! No compensation for waiting 2 hours, cold food and terrible service! My family and I went to lazy turtle last night for dinner. First time for some of us. The special mahi mahi was excellent. The snapper was great and the 10 once filet was perfectly cooked. Melissa was the server for our table. She did amazing!! Very friendly always available if anything was needed while attending to many other tables. Melissa did a great job and never let our drinks run dry. Everyone was Very friendly. The band Galaxy was playing and were excellent. Great entertainment. After we left it was learned that a piece of jewelry was lost. I returned and diligently searched with the help from another employee named Lisa and the jewelry was found by the owner and his wife on the deck. Great dining experience. Going to a popular restaurant with a large party during a pandemic seems to draw a lot of bad reviews at all restaurants lately. I have the opposite review! We had a reservation for 10. My husband and I showed up 10 minutes early and pleased to see two people from our party already sitting at the table. The decor and vibe was very Florida (we are locals). From the moment we sat down Savannah was an amazing waitress (Can I still call her that? Maybe it's waitperson?)! We briefly walked out to see the amazing tiki area, but just took a peek... beautiful view of the Indian River. For the entire night none of our waters or drinks ever went dry. We had an amazing seafood tower appetizer. Everyone had their own entrees with zero complaints. We brought something special for the birthday boy and she had no problem storing it in the refrigerator, and even adding the whipped cream to the top before bringing it to the table. Waitress was amazing. I'd say this restaurant is pricey but you can't beat the ambience. Coconut shrimp was delish but only 4 pieces though they were large shrimps. The hummus plate pricey and not much on plate. Burgers were great and the Lobster bisque was the best though the bread bowl was over cooked ,hard and somewhat burned. The key lime pie was delish not made in restaurant maybe from Sams club. All in all we had a great night. Will come back and we now know what to order. read more

I have been in the service industry for 30 years and I can't believe this place. It's really pretty but good luck getting a drink or a waitress. Everyone that we did see seemed was very pleasant but that was few and far and far between. The food was ok. We had to get up and get our own silverware and never got plates for our appetizers. We've been here for 2 hours and still waiting on our second drink. There is no business here so I'm shocked that this is the way it is. This place will never survive in my opinion. A restaurant is only as good as it's weakest link. In spite of a great well prepared meal (oyster plate and mahi taco plate), good service and a wonderful out door dining area the Lazy Turtle scores a Zero rating. None of the staff or servers wore masks indicating that it was their choice not to. I asked my server to wear a mask while serving us and he refused even after I offered him a new sealed mask to wear. My wife and are both vaccinated but still understand the need to be masked during the resurgence of the virus. Upon leaving the Lazy Turtle I implored the staff present at the reception table to be safe and wear masks for the protection of themselves and the customers they serve. I was ridiculed and even asked "are you a Christian?" I am not sure what the implication was but I was offended they would ask such a stupid question. Also, beware that they are passing on a 4% surcharge if you pay with a credit card, presumably because their transaction fees have increased. If none of these things bother you go ahead and eat there. As for me, I will never return until they have a greater regard for the customers they serve. read more

We waited one hour, yes, one hour for our food (which never came!) no one in management seemed to have anything to say despite all other later arriving tables being served. Well last night was will be my last time going. Prices have double since July. I told the waiter and he said I highly doubt it so I looked online and they haven't change the pricing on the menu yet. When you were paying 22 and now 42 for the same thing in 2 months that's is a crime in my books. Food was also terrible. If you pay with a credit card they charge you 5 per cent. We were headed for the Shack, and then remembered this place had opened sort of recently and decided to give it a try. It's waterfront, sort of clinging to the lagoon bank and they have live music outside on the weekends. It was too humid and breezy to sit outside, so we did what we like to do best which is to find seating at the bar. The bar is half of the main dining room and impossibly tall. I'm 5'6" and when I sat in my bar stool I only half joking rested my chin on the surface of the bar top and figured I could just shovel the food in that way instead of having to lift my fork too high. Apparently, one end of this bar is more for service and then other end, the one we chose for its distance from other diners, was the end where they store the bussed glasses and plates. We didn't find that out until after we received our drinks and dishes, and with a twist in my chair it was behind me. This place gives the vibe of a beachy getaway with vaguely island decor, and things like mango salsa on the fish entree, but it's trying too hard to please everyone. There's soup of the day, fried appetizers, entree sized salads, sushi, burgers, fried fish sandwiches, and also a $40 steak. This is not $40 steak territory. My fish was tasty, and the coconut rice accompanying it was really delicious, my husband's strip steak was all right but nothing to write home about. No dinner salads are available unless you want the entree-sized wedge or cranberry walnut thing. Little details when corrected will make a difference. Things like, the door that leads to the outdoor seating squeaks incredibly loudly and it's opened approximately every ten seconds for servers to go in and out with trays. It must be a giant pain in the ass for them to have to struggle through that sticky door and maneuver through the crowd out there, too. When you have live musicians on the deck who are absolutely hearable through the glass doors and windows, turn off the satellite radio inside so the two aren't clashing with each other. It wasn't a bad meal, just nothing I'd ever hurry back for. Next time, we'll go further up to the Mansion or closer back to the Shack. read more
