Gettin Crabby 4391 Dixie Hwy. NE Palm Bay, FL 32905 3.5 Stars Once again on the Space Coast, my trusty random name generator was on familiar ground. Today I was off to the savage wilds of Palm Bay, Florida, in search of Gettin Crabby. Thanks to Hedy Lamar and today's take on her technological invention, my GPS led me right to their parking lot at 4391 Dixie Hwy NE in Palm Bay, FL. Warmly greeted upon entry, I sat my rotundness down at the bar. Courtney was the barkeep today and she could be another entrant in the Best of Brevard. I may start that up again with two divisions: Brevard and Las Vegas. Let me know what y'all think in the comments. I asked Courtney for an order of Oyster Stew, some Whole Belly Clams and an order of Cracked Conch. It wasn't long before Courtney was ploppin' my seafood feast in front of me. After taking the before pics, I dug into the Oyster Stew. Oyster Stew is a fantastic dish when appropriately prepared. I don't know what was up with this drek, but it was terrible. Absolutely terrible. The oysters were slimy, tough and smelled bad. After one taste, I apprehensively moved on to the Whole Belly Clams. The Whole Belly Clams were as advertised. They were juicy, plump, succulent little buggers fried to a perfect golden brown. They tasted like they were dug out of the river this morning. This was highly unexpected after the drudge that passes for oyster stew in this eatery. Turning my schooled palate to the last item ordered, I stuffed a cracked conch in my maw. This was fantastic! The dredge was tasty, complex and perfectly distributed. The accompanying dipping sauce was on par with the dredge. It was delicious, tying the flavor of the dredge to the mouthwatering taste of the conch like a well-skilled sailor tying a bowline knot. I was shocked at the freshness and quality of the clams and conch served today, as the first item was so dreadful. This makes me wonder if the Oyster Stew isn't straight out of a Sysco can. I have no explanation otherwise, unless the oysters were two weeks old and found under the floorboards. The Big Boy says, "This restaurant overpromises and underdelivers. The fried food was above average (it's the South, expect nothing less), but the rest of it? Not so much."

Everything was sooooo good!!! Thank you! Fabulous service, very reasonable prices and delicious seafood!

Snow Crab with cucumber, tomato, pesto salad and French Fries ($32).

One of the first thing I always ask myself and guest is "would we eat here again?), and the answer is YES. I had the Snow crab and it was perfectly cooked, the salad was heavy on the pesto but the meal was very good. My wife had the Calamari appetizer fir her meal and it is a fine line of cooked right or rubber texture - I tasted it and it was perfect. The Key Lime pie was shared and did not last long enough to get a picture. The perfect balance of tart and not overly sweet.

Cracked conch appetizer. Fresh and delicious. Great sauce!

This is in the location of the former Ozzie's Crab House. It is a big improvement with a more expansive menu and overall better run establishment. We had the cracked conch appy, an order of wings, and a 1/2 dozen medium blue crabs steamed Maryland style. Service was attentive and not rushed. A very good vibe overall. The food was fresh and delicious. Live entertainment on a Wednesday evening. Prices were quite reasonable!

This place is a MUST! Food is so good, I had the bacon scallop Caesar salad (I turned a sandwich into a salad) everything is made in house! You can tell ! It was amazing, if you are questioning it... don't and just go. The staff are friendly and so attentive! There's so much nostalgic memories in the walls. Such a vibe My kid. Said the crab was so delicious

We stumbled on this little spot which doesn't present all that well from the road. However, our experience once we were in the door was excellent from start to end. Our waitress - Alyssa - was great!: attentive and informative, and on her recommendations we ordered the shrimp cocktail to start, and a number of the fried seafood options, including fish, shrimp, oysters, and scallops. Served with excellent french fries, hush puppies, and homemade coleslaw, along with a round of $4 Yuengling beers. The food was all excellent, and cooked perfectly. Side note....I don't normally like hush puppies, but even those too were delicious. Double thumbs up from everybody. We will be back.

From start to finish, the experience was excellent. Our server, Audrey, truly made the night. She was incredibly attentive, patient, and friendly--especially impressive given the size of our group. She kept everything organized, checked in on us consistently, and made sure everyone felt taken care of without ever rushing us. Her positive attitude and professionalism really stood out and added to the celebratory atmosphere. I ordered the island rigatoni with jerk grilled chicken (not listed by that exact name on the website), and it was absolutely delicious. The flavors were on point, the portion was satisfying, and honestly, everyone at the table enjoyed their meals. Across the board, the food was fresh, well-prepared, and full of flavor. Between the great food, waterfront vibe, and outstanding service from Audrey, Lazy Turtle was the perfect spot for our group celebration. We all had a great time and would definitely return--especially if Audrey is working! Highly recommend.

Being blamed for not liking my food that is poor quality for $25 is alittle out of the ordinary. At that point we were ready to go and the shrimp tacos were unfortunately just not great either. Unfortunate to see a place go down that has such pretty views.

Living in Melbourne, I do not often drive that far south, but it was such a beautiful day that it felt like the perfect time to go. The waterside setting is wonderful and the outdoor dining creates a relaxing and scenic experience. I ordered the Reuben sandwich from the specials menu and it was excellent. It was very busy during our visit, which shows how popular the place is, but everything still came out tasting great. I was surprised to see the sandwich priced at over twenty four dollars on the final bill, so I would recommend being aware that some items can be on the pricey side. My husband had the hand breaded chicken tenders with french fries. He said both the tenders and the fries were excellent and the tenders were very large. We each ordered a cocktail. He had the Super Margarita - it was strong and very good. I had the Pusser's Painkiller. The flavor was great, but the chunks of coconut made it difficult to drink near the end because the straw kept pulling in the coconut pieces. It was not a complaint, more of a challenge, and I ended up not finishing it. The outdoor seating has plenty of picnic tables and high tops. We were seated at a high top and enjoyed the view, but the flies were overwhelming, which made that part a bit distracting. Even with that, the service was excellent and very friendly. Overall, it was a very good first visit with great food, strong cocktails, and a beautiful waterfront setting. I am glad we finally went and would return again, especially on a nice day.

In homage to the adage, "misery loves company", Big boy invited the newest member of the Big Boy Dining Out Family (BBDO), Chef X. Chef is a fellow, well-known Brevard County connoisseur of local cuisine. Echoing the general sentiments of our cohorts, he asked, "how often do you run into food like this?" I answered, "It's far rarer to discover 4-or 5-star quality fare." Keisha, our server, was the one lone person who was on top of things; although, I'd argue that it's exceedingly easy to accomplish such a feat, when there is quite frankly nothing to serve. We made several attempts to order numerous menu items, but our pursuits were fruitless, our efforts in vain. I felt like a Yeth encroaching on unfamiliar territory. Nonetheless and not to be deterred, I cautiously altered course asking instead, "What Do you have?" We were presented with fried oysters, on the verge of spoilage, brown stewed chicken and curry chicken. Both: terrible. Big Boy says, "bashing a locally owned business? Yes...the food is horrendous but hey...at least they were open 30 minutes late."
