I absolutely loved the mix of chill Mediterranean vibes at this spot. The walls are filled with bright, beautiful artwork that instantly lifts the mood. The staff were super friendly and helpful, offering great suggestions from their well-rounded menu that caters to all dietary needs. I ordered the Chicken Shawarma Special, substituted with falafel, plus a side of baklava and their house sangria. Everything was made to order, and I sipped my sangria while I waited -- it was so refreshing and juicy (if that makes sense!), clearly made with real ingredients and not from concentrate. When my food arrived, it looked and smelled incredible. The chicken was tender and flavorful, the falafel perfectly crispy, and the hummus was to die for. I couldn't even finish it all -- the portions were generous, and my leftovers reheated beautifully in the oven the next day. Would I return? Absolutely! DELICIOUS! This was my first time going here and I did not expect it to be a fast casual place, but other than ordering at the counter, they don't make it feel like it. We shared the fully loaded hummus and then each got an entrée. My Gyro came with a side and decided to get falafel. I probably wouldn't do the falafel again as it did seem extra crispy like maybe it had stayed in the fryer for a bit too long. The euro was huge! My friend had the bowl and she for price to size ratio, it's definitely a win! We split baklava, which was not traditional. Rather than the filling in between each of the layers, it was filling in the inside and chunks of the Filo layers on top and bottom. You know I am starting with location. On the corner of Broad and 9th (aka James Brown Blvd), it sits within two blocks of the Miller and Imperial Theater. Also round the corner, the Augusta Common. Parking is everywhere, the outdoor seating has you right in the heart of downtown, and inside is a beautiful ambiance that anyone would love to end their day on. But this is more than just a dinner/date spot. Lunch is on the menu as are cocktails now. In a hurry? Order, via Yelp, for take out or delivery. But this is the bonus footage that you see at the end of the movie credits. The "meat" of the matter is just that, meat...and hummus and banana chocolate loaf cake. There are restaurants where you find a favorite dish and stick with it. This is not that. You should order completely new items (main dish, sides, dessert, etc.) every time you come. You will be glad you did. Here presentation comes only second to preparation. And their preparation of every dish is a gold standard in quality. I'd already had catering from them, but stumbling in needing a quick meal, I was pleased to find an early evening happy hour offered cheap pitas. While healthy options were plentiful, I got falafel and fries. My sandwich was dynamic, the falafel garlic-y, and my fries deliciously breaded. Parking can be found on the street in front of the restaurant or the medians (?) have parking too they're a little hidden until you drive passed them. This place is so very clean and they play great music, it is not too loud for a Wednesday early evening. We ordered the Greek Salad and added on the Chicken Shawarma for protein, about 3 minutes later our food came out. Wow! So fast! The salad is a PERFECT size to split or to keep to yourself. Decided to eat at this restaurant, my wife eats here often and she was disappointed with the bowl she ordered and had to send it back in which a female server took it back and a male server returned with the different order, as she was explaining to him ( I don't know if he was the manager or not ) that she eats at other Laziza's in the area and that particular bowl was presented in a much healthier way, she got no reaction from the male staff. Food arrived quickly usi g table marker system. Decided to order dessert and it was good too. Skip the date cookies: they were a bit dry and exploded when you picked them up. Gelato to DIE for. Once the bus person cleaned the main meal plates, it was extremely difficult to get their attention again. We deducted one star because we asked 4 times for a to go box and were ignored. There was also another young man at the register who went out of his way to come over to our table to ensure that everything was okay. The reason for the 3 stars is that the portions were small for the price and the dish I ordered (veg platter) was not very good in my opinion. I love Mediterranean foods and eat it a lot in Atlanta. For the price my party paid for their meals we could've gotten 1/2 to double the portions served here. And the flavor and seasoning of the Mediterranean foods eaten here seemed lacking. First review of the new year (finally)! Let's go! We've had Laziza on our list of places to try for a while. I wasn't sure what to expect honestly since we are new to the area but I was happy to see the menu looked pretty good. Prices are a little high but my husband claims that's about average for Mediterranean food, so I can't really complain! I got a chicken shawarma wrap/gyro and fries as the side. It was honestly delicious, and about $13 I think. Heads up, the food is salty! Like, pretty extra salty. I love salt so that wasn't an issue. The chicken was moist and flavorful, and I really loved the crispy fries. My husband got the feta fries to share ($3 extra) and I thought they were incredible. Portion sizes are excellent and make me a little more comfortable with the prices. We both ate our entire wraps but ended up taking some fries home because we were too stuffed to eat them. Love leftover fries! Service was good but minimal- you can order from your table using their app, or they have an iPad up front to order on, OR you can order from a person working the register. Their adult beverages looked good but we decided not to indulge today (hard to resist the $5 house sangria- next time!). We went right as they opened on a Saturday and there was only one other table, but it seems like a place to be quite busy during weekday lunches and weekend evenings. It was clean, it's nice not to have to bus your own tables, and it's a good corner spot with lots of light and in a decent part of town. My only complaints/suggestions- pickles in a wrap/gyro like that are weird to say the least, I didn't really enjoy that part. And the feta or kalamata additions to the wrap shouldn't cost extra, they should really just be included (and price adjusted as necessary). I'd much rather have those than boring pickles. Oh, and it would be cool if they were opened on Sundays.... But that's a southern struggle. While we had a good experience, I don't think this is a place we will frequent a lot, primarily because most Mediterranean food I can make myself at home and for the price it's just better for us to do it that way. Picked during The Masters due to good reviews, but it is an odd setup. When you walk through the door, there are two signs saying to order at the kiosk or from your table. The kiosk is sandwiched between a window seat and a table, so you're hovering over two people while ordering. I ordered baklava and gelato for a snack, but oddly no gelato flavors listed. Figured they must have only one. Went to the bathroom and then waited 15 minutes. There were people after me ordering at the counter and picking up food. Two staff seemed puzzled by an empty bag, so I said I think that's mine. Inside was the tiniest piece of $4 baklava I ever saw. They then asked what type of gelato I wanted. How would I know? Turns out they have different flavors, just not on the kiosk. Oddly, I came back two days later for a quick bite before my flight home. Gave the kiosk another shot since no one was sitting next to it. Ordered a falafel pita, choosing everything plus feta. Server later plopped it down saying "enjoy". Something was off but I kept eating. Then I opened it to find only falafel, pickles and feta inside. No lettuce, tomatoes, tahini, etc. There was just 10 minutes before I had to leave for the airport, so it wasn't worth complaining. Meanwhile, I noticed when people ordered at the counter, they were asked many questions how they wanted everything prepared. But how would you know to order at the counter when two signs say to order at the kiosk or from your table? The flavors and freshness are a slam dunk here. I use to get a wrap everytime because they're so dang good. But now that I've tried the shawarma bowl, I just can't eat anything else. I love that I feel like I'm eating rice dish and salad at the same time. The chicken is sooo delicious and the dressing just elevates everything that the shawarma bowl is. I can never go and not get feta fries. Now I can never not get chicken on top of them! I never need more than the small, either. It's just enough to enjoy with my meal. He's a young man who works at this restaurant, and for his generation, his attitude and professionalism exceed expectations. Omar went above and beyond to attend to everyone's needs at the restaurant, even offering to let people use his Hotspot since the internet was not working there. He was very attuned to when people needed condiments or needed their tables cleared and was overall just wonderful company. This young man deserves to own his own restaurant one day. We have eaten at Laziza for 9 years now, both in Evans and downtown Augusta. I thought they were initially absolutely wonderful. Then they cut out the pink pickled turnips. You will get a different chicken schwarma sandwich depending on who is making it. Sometimes it has been dry and barely any chicken inside of it. Was just there last week as when I come to Augusta I just have to stop. Now they have totally americanized the chicken sandwich, meaning because some few people don't appreciate the pickles they only put 1 or 2 in the sandwich, mine had none. Have had to pay for the garlic sauce now for awhile, didn't use to. It really has none of the middle eastern taste anymore. I'm soooo disappointed. I love the new location downtown! The interior is very clean and well decorated, and I love the nice atmosphere they have here. There's plenty of seating area and the staff are friendly.
