At Mon Cheri Spa in Denver's Crestmoor neighborhood, Anna, who was trained in Paris at the Guinot Institute, gave me one hour of bliss. With each change of tempo or sensation, my mind shifted from aromas to tastes, so that I began to feel the touches as tastes, juicy or firm, tingly or sweet, thick and solid to silky and transparent. Cool. Warm. Respectful. Her soft touch is constantly strong and reassuring. Brisk, light pressure turns to a lingering and soothing suggestion of touch, all stimulating while tantalizing. Textures of cream or liquid on my skin turn into colors, making mental images of favorite places and sensations. There is no abruptness, so I am never jolted back to reality. Each pressure seems to have meaning and lingers until a different sensation arises. Anna is a master of rhythm, which brings a feeling of harmony. Seamless are her movements as she massages face, hands, and shoulders deeply. A sense of healing results from her unspoken reassurance that all will be well. Yet her voice is lovely, too. I called prior to coming to ensure that the studio was capable of…read morehard gel, I spoke with the technician and let her know exactly the color, design and products I'd like to be used as many salons do not do hard gel. I specifically asked (and showed a photo) of clear gel base and was instead given a very lumpy and un-shaped pink base. I'd asked several times prior for a natural clear base...not pink. Unfortunately the technician said that it was my fault and that I should have told her I didn't want pink. She told me she would not correct it with clear gel because it would "take another hour and it wasn't an option" I'm shocked that instead of correcting the nails and creating a happy returning customer she said she could only instead pick a solid color to paint over it. I wanted a French tip and I will not pay $100+ for something that I did not ask for, let alone is to correct a mistaken pink base. I asked to leave mid service, and unfortunately the nails were sticky and lumpy and I know must find another salon. Ultimately, this salon is limited with color supply (this should have been expressed over the phone while booking) and the tech could have professionally corrected the colors and shape. Bummer.

I got a facial wax (which was the best part, read on to find out why...) and triple peel facial. LACY knew what she was talking about. I would ask her about my home routine and products I currently use. She was honest in telling me ingredients to look out for and didn't make me feel like a cheap idiot for anything I was using. She didn't try to hype me on her stuff, either. As she performed each step of the facial, she would tell me what to expect every step of the way. ("This will tingle a little bit," and "now I'm going to extract," and "is this the right pressure?") She used the steamer and lots of warm, wet towels, each one seemed to strip away a layer of stress from my hectic life. The products had good scents, none of which were overwhelming. (I have a sensitive nose.) But the facial wax! Every other time I have gotten waxed, it has definitely been a teeth gritting affair. It can bring tears to your eyes, ripping the relaxation right out of an otherwise amazing appointment. But Lacy is QUICK and seriously PAINLESS! Never before have experienced a wince-less wax job. While others have felt like a series of shots or blood draws, this felt more like pulling off a band-aid. I love LACY at Susie Organic!
