We hired Lay it Straight for a kitchen remodel. We met their "designer" at the Sharonville home improvement show. Things seemed great until the installation began. The install for the cabinets was March 7th and it has been a nightmare since. It is now June and we still do not have a working kitchen. There has been problems with wrong cabinet sizes, damaged cabinets, poor workmanship, and even worse customer service. As I have now read previous reviews, I am amazed by the similarities. We too were blamed for incorrect measurements. When trying to advise them of damages on the cabinets, I was told, "the installers took pictures before they left, and that damage was not there". We also had drawer fronts come completely off the same night they were installed. The response to that was "I don't believe that. We have used that cabinet company for years and not had a problem". New cabinets were to be "rushed" ordered after this. It was March 24th and we still had heard nothing. After calling and emails to Lay it straight about an estimated time for the new install, we were told that they didn't know because the cabinet manufacture was not getting back to them. I then called the manufacturer to simple ask if my cabinets were shipped. Once LIS found out I had called, they sent a threatening email saying they may not even finish my kitchen. We have since had cabinets somewhat completed. The trim work is elementary, at best. It will all need to be replaced. We are lacking cabinet end panels, panels for island, shelves for an upper cabinet, sink, and granite. As of May 31 we were informed that they would need to remeasure for our granite. The last time it was measured-May 2nd! They are just wanting to "make sure" it's correct. Saying it will take another 7 days after that to install. They are also bringing in outside installers to complete trim work. Making reference that their normal crew wasn't up to the task. They then requested we pay our balance in full or the project would not be completed. We have paid almost 75% of the total bill. Paid 100% of items in our possession and the labor to install. They have threatened legal action against us because we will not pay remaining balance until work is complete. We have now hired an attorney to expedite the process. I am shocked at the lack of integrity displayed from this company. They have lied, delayed, and tried to intimidate us throughout the whole process.
Update: as of July 6th, even after multiple attempts to resolve this matter with LIS, and them giving no response to our attorney, we have terminated our relationship with them and will be seeking another company to complete the job. Along with legal fees, will be required to spend additional funds repurchasing items and waiting another 2 weeks for their delivery. We hope to have this complete before August. Our 2 weeks project becoming a 6 month nightmare.
Update: as of August 29th, we are now having cabinets that were assembled and installed by Lay it Straight starting to come apart and are falling of the wall! Just another example of your incompetence. read more
