Employees there are very knowledgeable, very helpful, very professional, and nice! I definitely recommend this place.

I love the beauty supplies in LA. They have absolutely everything you need and new stuff that you never seen for your hair. At LAX beauty supply they have absolutely everything you need and we're really impressed me because they had no Boho braids that you can use and sewing as a weave that is very new and innovative. I have never seen that yet at any other beauty supply. They also have so many wigs to choose from and ponytails. It is very organized and this beauty supply and they have everything together neatly. It is also huge so it may take a while to look at everything. However, this beauty supply is one of my favorites to go to in LA and I can get absolutely everything I need. read more

Anything you need they have it!! Great prices as well!! Hours are great for early appointments

They have such a good selection of hair and decent prices. I dont live close but this has easily become my go to!

Terrible customer service. I would take my money somewhere else if I was you.. they state on the receipt that you can not do refunds, but you can do exchanges up to 3 days after purchase. I made a purchase yesterday and came back today and they wouldn't exchange my product. There's a beauty supply in the same plaza near the Lil Ceasars, go there instead! I have to give a rating to post so that's why I gave them 1, when they deserve 0. read more

Feedback is for Long Hybrid Ponytails, great prices, like $13.99 for a quality ponytails and depending on how well you take care of it, can be used several times, plus lots of options for quality pricing and style and colors and length. Parking is super easy as it is in a huge shopping center lot. Not crowded on a weekday mid day. Service was good, went to a black female to help me as I didn't want anyone who didn't understand my needs and she was great! Will definitely be back!! They have a ton of other stuff but I came solely for a long hybrid ponytail and left with two! An ocean wave one and a curly one! Perfect color match LFG!! read more

If I could give one star I would. Horrible customer service. Instead of taking accountability when wrong they think they hurt your feelings by asking you to leave. Cashiers know nothing about Customer Service. No one in the store has PROPER customer service skills. You would think someone/ anyone would have a community mindset. I overheard 3 employees speaking negatively about some customers. When I politely said you should be careful how you speak in front of your clients because he was speaking about MY MOM I was asked to leave. I left with no problem because what would make you think I would want to give my hard earned money to a group of stupid individuals with no customer service. A few customers had to explain how they were wrong just for them to understand why they should've apologized. Please don't patronize this place. Especially because they think no matter how wrong they treat the customer nothing will affect their business and it definitely should. read more

As a physician, I am a firm believer in patronizing place with reputable business practices, good customer service and knowledgeable staff. I ensure that my staff are well-trained, patient-centered and professional. Well, I wish the owners of this establishment had comparable criteria in mind when hiring their staff, because I experienced the opposite when I entered this store today. I was referred here by my stylist who is currently out of town. Though she gave photos of the items I should purchase, and clear instructions, it was a new style so I wanted to be certain that my items were appropriate. Unfortunately, the Asian lady I encountered today was rude, misinformed about products, lackadaisical about her job and generally unpleasant. She spent most of the time hiding behind the register in her assigned section. There was no greeting of customers, she was unwelcoming (appeared bothered by any questions, walked off mid-conversation and proceeded to yell unsolicited advice almost outside of hearing range. Luckily, she has no ownership in the store, but I wouldn't purchase anything from them as I suspect that they are aware of her bad attitude. On the contrary, there were 3 other employees (2 AA women, 1 Asian guy) in the store who were nice, knowledgeable and helpful when interacting with their customers. One even offered to ring me up when the but I declined so that I could politely give in-person feedback to the unprofessional one. I politely placed my items on the counter and exited. Hopefully she is the person who had to put the items back. Given the abundance of hair supply stores, one would expect at least decent customer service. If so, you may want to look elsewhere. Most of the items in the store are typical and generic hair products so it is easy to find at other hair stores or on the internet. My hair appointment is not until next week so that's exactly what I will be doing. read more

Lax Beauty Supply - The store. - Cosmetics & Beauty Supply Near Me - Gardena, California

I went in to make an exchange and was surprised by how unclear the process was. The only posted policy said "exchanges within seven days with a receipt," but nothing mentioned that items had to be checked in at the front. When staff approached me about it, the tone felt accusatory, which made the experience uncomfortable. Clear signage and a friendlier approach would make the process much smoother for customers. I won't be spending any more money here going forward. read more

First time I went in I was hesitant as I'm Caucasian looking for dread extensions and wasn't sure if I would be welcomed. That lady at the desk gave me a warm welcome and I spent 20 mins browsing their huge inventory. Got a good idea of what I wanted and asked for a salon recommendation on the way out. They sent me to the Pink ROSE salon opposite where I met Mischa who did a great job on turning my pixie into 24 inch dreads in pink n turquoise Viking mermaid style. On my second visit I was looking for pink dreads and wasn't sure of quantity. A gal helped me out and kindly opened a packet to count (no no for customers....ask first!), and I bought 3 packs. Mischa only used 2 packs so I returned an unopened pack for store credit which I used on Pink glossing spray to keep my dreads shiny, and some faux hair to make my own dreads. I felt welcome in-store and experienced great customer service. Easy free mall parking at the door. I've had so many people compliment me on my faux mohawk mermaid dreads which are easy to take care of and are funky, colourful n fun. I'll be back to buy more faux hair to make dreads next visit to LA. You just can't beat their huge inventory and customer service. read more

I visited the LAX beauty supply store on 12/18/21 to purchase a wig. I noticed most of the popular colors were displayed. A few customers were asking the salesperson if had any more in stock. the salesperson explained they are all out of stock. but you can purchase the display. I decide to purchase the last #2 wig on display because it was the only #2 in stock. I find it confusing how these beauty supplies retailers are using this pandemic when trying on wigs. It's a serious health codes issue. Customers are not allowed to try on wigs due to COVID-19 and all wigs are final sales. but This is not a health code issue for the retailer to allow the customer to purchase the display wigs, although several people have been rubbing and brushing their fingers in the hair due to Covid-19. The salesperson pulled the wig off the display he could have laid the wig down and picked up a simple wig by mistake. Because the back cash area was missy with different types of hair or bait and switched sham happen. instead of bagging the # 2 dark brown wig, they switched it to the jet black #1. Once I acknowledge this mistake. I immediately called the store and spoke with a Hispanic female manager explaining the situation and if anyway I can exchange the color to #2 dark brown. Her tone comes across as rude, irritated, and personal as if it was coming out of her pocket. Saying how they do not accept returns or exchanges due to their policy "all wigs are final sales ", and how they need to watch to store video to see who's at fault. I ask if it this is necessary just to exchange the color. I have the receipts, all the tags are still attached and I don't get the chance to try it on. Immediately in such a powerful tone she's making an effort to intimidate me by making me think I may be stuck with this purchase basic on the return policy. Five or six hours Later a Hispanic male called me back under the name kong Nguyen and some weird number that was later disconnected 2 minutes after speaking to him. He started accusing saying how do he know maybe he wearing the wig to a party and trying to return it. Judging me as dishonest and some kind of criminal. Mr. Colombo began Completed his investigation from watched the store videotape and concluded this situation was my fault. I did not once blame or accuse anyone I want to correct this issue and was not responsible of #1. package the wig. #2 bagging the wig. #3. I didn't ring myself up. I decided to purchase a wig from Amazon, had the charges reversed, and ship the wig back, and provide the tracking number to my credit card company. No one is going to Intimidate me to keep some I did not want to buy. read more

This beauty supply isn't too far from the southern tip of the South Bay Area, even though this area is still considered the South Bay, but for all of us ladies further south in the beach cities and the Carson, San Pedro, and PV areas, skip Johnny's BS overpriced and rude ass and come here! As many times as I've been here, they have never disappointed. They ALWAYS have amazing customer service and they ALWAYS have more than enough stock in everything that you could possibly need and want. If you need hair for braiding, crocheting, or want to explore some color options for highlights, they have every possible color here. They even have every length that you could possibly need! Their hair care products can be used on a person of any race, but they have an amazing selection of products for Black and other ethnic minorities, something that is often hard to find, especially for reasonable prices. I especially love that they cater to hair care for mixed race people, because I've found everything that I need for my girls. I hate driving into the city (LA), unless I absolutely have to. LAX definitely saves me those trips. During Covid, other beauty supplies that were open had some of the barest shelves I'd ever seen, but LAX has consistently kept their same supply of goods. I always spend more than I intend to when I go in, but it's just like going to Target or Costco...you always find what you need and sometimes you discover something new that you didn't expect. For example, if you have a lot of hair or long braids, they have really nice hair bonnets that will fit all of your hair. They also carry the entire product line of various products, which is a big help because you don't have to drive to multiple stores to find all that you need of that particular line. Usually there are more people on the floor to assist you, but I'm sure with Covid, they had to lay some people off... understandable. I hope they're able to bring them back at some point. Either way, there is help if you need it and the guy who was cashiering was super nice and asked how I was and even thanked me for coming in. I appreciate businesses that appreciate their customers, especially when they are spending their hard-earned money. read more

Been coming here for years, yet. It only takes one time. I guess the Asian lady at the counter couldn't handle too many black women in the store. Every one was civil, however it just seems like it was too much for the Asian Lady. She was so distracted that she forgot to add a product I asked, then when I paid with my cc and put my pin # in, she's still asking for my I.D. then she forgets to put my receipt in my bag. Now YES it's my fault for not making sure I had all I needed, but how are you gonna work at a Black Beauty Supply store but act funny around black people? read more

I come here more often than any other beauty supply place. They have a LARGE and I mean LARGE selection of hair!!!! So you'll find something that'll catch your eye. They also have many hair care products as well. There is plenty of parking since it is in a plaza with other stores. The workers are very sweet I never had a rude encounter with any of them. Now the space is pretty crammed so be prepared to have your space violated. They also give you store credit or you can exchange the item for a similar/ same price one, but you don't get a refund :/ read more

Big store, Big selection... blah blah blah! Whatever you do, DO NOT SHOP HERE!!!!! If I could give zero stars I would. They're sooo nice when they're taking your money but they're liars and lie about unnecessary things such as exchange and return policy! Take your money to businesses that treat you well even after the sale! Shop with your own or buy online! When I find a business with good service, I am LOYAL and more than happy to support but I will never buy anything from this beauty supply store again!! I come from SD but when I'm in the Los Angeles area I will now stick with buying items elsewhere. read more

Remember when this location was a BofA branch. Anyway, I like this place for its ample selection and friendly service. While buying wigs and hairpieces costs almost 50% less online, what they offer works in a pinch. What I don't care for is that it's so dark inside. The lighting is dim and can give customers the wrong impression. No matter your shade, a person deserves to know what color they are buying. Some auburn red weaves/wigs tend to have a pinkish tint or a brunette may be darker or lighter than desired. Also, they need someone to clean up and maintain the inventory. While I appreciate the weave and wig displays, these have been matted beyond recognition for years now. I don't wear braids or full wigs but these appear to be scattered all over the place. I'm telling you, hiring a merchandise specialist or professional organizer will increase profits by at least 30%. read more

As a braided I have gone to so many beauty supply stores. I live in Los Angeles (usc area) and drive out of my way to go here They have such a huge selection of hair. Their selection is unmatched. So many different textures and colors. But what keeps me going back is their customer service. They try to do everything they can to get you the product(s) you really need. That's not common in beauty shops. read more

Came in looking for a half wig & didn't find anything but a bunch of cheesy "lace" fronts (they are more like "barb-wire fronts")- thick as the lace is. This is a pretty large sized supply with a wide variety of products, but a 'blah' selection of wigs. There was no smiling faces or hello & welcome - lemme know if you need some help type greetings upon entering the store in the early morning... I didn't purchase anything and I won't be back. Too mashed up for my taste. read more

I've been coming here for YEARS! I don't frequent it as much as I used to since I've kept my hair pretty natural the last few years. I do come for rollers, hair for braids (individuals and cornrows), combs, and things to tie my hair down. I've also gotten into adding color into my hair with the semi permanent color (going purple as soon a my swim class is over). They have a nice variety of wide toothed combs which are great for combing out my hair after I wash it. The only thing I wish they carried were Denman brushes. The staff are really nice. If you aren't a regular I can see why the folks may not come off as friendly, but they are nice and helpful every time I've frequented there. One of the guys I talk to all the time because he's a big NFL fan so I've sat at the counter talking to him at times for 20 minutes discussing sports. I'm a supporter of local businesses in my community so I always try to go there first before going any place else, plus I find a lot of their products are cheaper than say Sally's which you would think is the opposite for a mom and pop shop. I highly recommend them for your hair care needs. read more

This place appeared to have a large selection of hair and hair care products, but they aren't ADA compliant. They have no seating for disabled customers or for trying on wigs. Yep! This place is the most disorganized beauty supply I've ever seen. The prices are great but the human hair behind the counter is hidden by undesirable synthetic wigs. You can't even see the woman that shows the weft of hair. The human hair was around $70.00 but she only carries 11" on the clip in extensions. The weft come in different sizes but it's hard to see what she carries. She doesn't carry blondes or mixes of ash blondes or ombres. She oy had two ombres in an orange color and streaks in honey browns. The hair looked decent for the price. She was willing to order what you like and is pleasant. But I didn't find any clip in hair. The synthetic ponytails only last a week at most but what do you expect for $14.99. Their wigs in the front look like they have been shaken and worn more then a few times. Very unappealing displays. read more

Great spot. Great products. Folks are very helpful. I don't feel like I'm being watched when I'm in the store.

First off, I've been reading some previous reviews here on LAX beauty, and although I'm aware that we all have different experiences, I will have to defend this company. I live only 10 minutes away from this store, so I'm lucky to have it close for pretty much all of my hair care needs. I've also been a customer for over 10 years. I've seen pretty much the same employees behind the counter, which means they must own the place. They are nice and friendly all the time, and will assist you when you ask. It can get pretty crowded in there sometimes, especially during Summer, which is when everyone wants to really look their best when the sun is out. They carry an excellent selection of hair care from wigs, to extensions, hair cremes, beauty supplies, etc. Very large selection. They do tend to cater to African American hair a little more than others which most might find discriminating. But you must understand that, there aren't that many places a Black womna/man can go to to buy the things that their hair needs since it tends to differ from other hair types. This place is a haven for them. Sorry that most reviews say they were looked down on for having to leave bags behind the counter. There are plenty of stores with this policy, so why only come down on this one? This is their store, their rules. It had nothing to do with the color of your skin imo. and, as far as them treating Blacks differently, please. I'm a black woman, have been a customer for over 10 years with them, and I have never been racially profiled by them, ever. They cater to Black hair care, why would they mistreat their largest clientele? Again, everyone will have a different experience here, but for the most part, this is great. Try them out, and see what you'll like, and what will work for you in regards to hair/beauty care. read more
