I have given this place excellent reviews in the past. But unfortunately, I was very disappointed yesterday. My friend and I went for lunch as we do whenever we shop at Arthur Ave. We ordered one appetizer, one entre and a carafe of wine and our bill came to $168.00. The Eggplant rollatini appetizer was $25 and the small piece of salmon with vegetables was $35. Wine $40. A 20% tip was automatically added to our check, and the tip was computed on the total including tax. What restaurant adds 20% tip on a table for 2??? Service was poor and I had to go into the main restaurant twice to ask for red pepper and cheese and eventually the check. There was one other table of 2 when we got there which left before we finished and another table of 2 came in while we were still eating. It wasn't crowded. My friend ordered a shot of lemoncello and I asked for a small side of pasta to go with our entre, we were charged $12 each for these items. I eat out often and know that everything has become very expensive BUT $168.00 for one app and one entre and wine??? If we ordered 2 apps and 2 entrees the bill would have been $230-$250 We usually get 2 limoncellos comped after dinner. I'm not looking for anything free but good regular customers should be treated better than this. I will say that the food is excellent and we enjoyed it. I am offering these comments as constructive criticism to Moishe. He did refund the $12 for limoncello when I told him I was disappointed.

Since it was a beautiful sunny day that was not humid or hot so we sat outdoor to take in the scenery of people walking by. The service was good even though our waiter got slammed with tables and it appeared he was the only server but the other workers helped him out, TRUE TEAMWORK! Eddie was knowledgeable of the menu and provided great recommendations. I decided on the branzino, shrimp, garlicky spinach and Florentine cauliflower. My mom was excited to order the chicken parmigana with spaghetti and a Caesar salad. And yes, she partook in eating both of my veggies. Each and every dish exquisitely flavorful and delicious. Although my tummy was satisfied my tastebuds craved dessert. In comes the Coconut Pana Cotta. Paradise in a small half coconut dish. The Thai coconut milk, honey, mint and summer mixed fruit had me in a dreamy haze of splendor. One of the best restaurant desserts I have ever eaten. Kudos to the dessert chef. Highly recommend. Great place for a date, girls night out, group or solo meal!

As always her serving was top notch. She's always very sweet and amazing. The food as always was spectacular. We started with the stuffed mushrooms, sorry my brother dug in before I could get a picture. My mom and brother got salads that came with the meal. Then the mail course came and my brother had this huge seafood dish that had salmon, shrimp and calamari. He wouldn't let me take a pic, lol. Then my mom had shrimp parm, my dad had a huge chop chop salad and I got the veal. Then for dessert we had pistachio tartufo which was gone in a blink of an eye as well as the chocolate fudge cake. This was the first time my brother has come to this restaurant as he lives in the city. He said he would definitely come back and as always we will too.

When I arrived, I was excited to see the 2018 Michelin rating sign. We were seated without a reservation since our visit was a little impromptu. Long story short: Our food came out in 40 minutes AFTER I had to get up and grab the waiter's attention to figure out what's going on. My son asked twice to leave because we were just sitting there watching the table next to us receive multiple courses. This is a big deal because my son barely speaks... so for him to note things were taking too long is what really upset me. The waiter paid us NO MIND. I was literally trying to catch his attention and he would keep his back to us and never checked in during those 40 minutes after the initial drink. Even when I ordered two entrees, the waiter recommended we order one and split it (I said no because there's no harm in a to go container). When I received the food, each entree was only the size of a regular take out container. This made me wonder if maybe he thought we weren't financially worth the effort. THEN he was not the one to serve us our food or even give us our check. THE WAITER DESERTED OUR TABLE. It was only the Latino staff that served me and apologized. Honestly? It hurt; I'm a Black mom taking her visibly special needs child to a restaurant. He deserves fun experiences and I will always try to give him the world. I was proud of him for being well behaved. But as a mom, the level of disappointment and anger can not be measured. He didn't deserve that treatment and I hope he doesn't deem it acceptable.

The absolutely INSANE prices!!!! My guy and I were handed menus that were written over in pen with the most ridiculous prices ever!!!!! no words needed. We looked at each other and got up and left. If they are going out of business, they need to just throw the towel in, because overcharging people, not having professional waitstaff on hand, and the mystery of the quiet kitchen (which happened to be in the middle of the place and semi-open) was effing weird. We drove a few blocks down to another establishment and looked at the prices and knew that we were not losing our minds at JP's.

Everything tasted fresh and well made. The warm bread was soft, fresh, and nicely herby with what tasted like oregano sprinkled on top. Portions were satisfying, flavors were rich without feeling too heavy, and the quality really stood out. We ordered sparkling water and a couple of cocktails. For appetizers we had the Polpettine Di Casa (homemade beef meatballs in pomodoro sauce) and the Portuguese octopus with fava beans, cannellini beans, onions, and apple vinegar dressing. Both were flavorful and well prepared. For entrées we ordered the Pappardelle alla Bolognese with homemade pasta and meat sauce, along with the New Zealand lamb chops over broccoli rabe and mashed potatoes. The pasta tasted fresh and authentic, and the lamb was tender and cooked as requested. Unfortunately, the night ended on a disappointing note because of the service. Mario was pleasant, but another server, I believe named Alex, overheard a conversation and became argumentative and sarcastic toward the birthday woman's son. It felt very unprofessional for the setting and completely changed the mood of the dinner, causing everyone to leave earlier than planned. The 93yr old woman was shaking. People should stay in their lane. Sadly, because of that interaction, I wouldn't return.
