I woke up this morning and said to myself, "self, you need to have a good gyro today for lunch."…read more After polling my family and Yelp results, I found Sam's and I'm really glad that I did! No one was there on a Saturday around lunch time. We ordered from a pleasant fellow at the counter who quickly put our beef/lamb gyro sandwiches together. Everything was super fresh. Our order of fries were fried to order. Two gyro sandwiches, one order of fries, and one beverage came out to $22 even. They'll take your card but a nearby sign says that they prefer cash. I didn't see anything about those dumb credit card fees, so hopefully that doesn't exist. The place seemed quite clean. No concerns there. There are several tables for dine-in. There is no outdoor seating. When we arrived, the pleasant fellow was jamming out to what I would describe as trendy Miami Beach hotel lobby music - a little bit dance club, a little bit ambient beats. He turned it down, but maybe should have turned it off. If it was left at the original volume, I'd have docked a star just for the hit to the already limited ambiance. The food was STELLAR. I commented to my favorite dining companion that we could come back for a gyro anytime. He agreed. The pita bread was toasted perfectly, the veggie components of the sandwiches were fresh and bright, the meat was pre-cut from the rotisserie but was perfect and plentiful. You'll have to eat some of the sandwich insides before you can fold it taco style and finish it, so grab a fork and dig in. The fries were those chunky style ones that were fried to crisp perfection and dusted with a seasoned salt of some sort. I did not check to see if the Heinz ketchup at the table is actually Heinz or if they are refilling the bottles (iykyk). The sandwich is plenty for lunch - you don't need fries or a side to get a filling meal. The location is easy enough to get in and out of for a quick escape if you order takeout. I did notice an advertisement for delivery, but it wasn't Uber Eats, Grubhub, or DoorDash. I'll be back! I do love a gyro but I plan to try the salads and platters. I hope you stop in and give it a try! Enjoy!

Bahar Cafe is one of my go-to spots…read more This is where I come to sit down, slow things down, have a cappuccino or Turkish coffee, and read or do Bible study. The atmosphere is calm, never overly busy, and just has a great vibe all around. The coffee is top tier--honestly the best cappuccino in town. And the food is just as good. The gyro is phenomenal, and the goulash is one of our favorites. What really sets this place apart is that it's a small, family-run business. I've been going here for years, and I genuinely love this family and what they've built. You can feel that it's authentic and made with care. If you're looking for a peaceful spot with great coffee, great food, and real people behind it, this is it.

I came here with a group, and I had the Vegetarian Briamai, which can also be made vegan if you ask them to leave off the feta. We also had an order of pita and tzatziki for an appetizer, and that hit the spot. While we didn't order the Saganaki flaming cheese, we saw it come out for another table, and it's quite a show- even if I can't attest to the taste. The only reason for my four stars instead of five is that the menu the server hands you is not complete, so be sure to check out the online menu to see ALL of the offerings. They do have more seafood and vegetarian offerings than what the paper menu shows, and you can also view photos and reviews of the food on their website/online menu. One of the reviews from 2024 mentioned the price differences, and this is still true in 2026. The prices on the website and in real life are a bit more expensive than the menus, so if you want the true cost of your meal, pay attention to the online menu. Anna's is a great choice for dinner; all of us enjoyed our food and found something we liked, from meat eaters to vegans. Plus, the sensory experience of being in a renovated church is nice and not something you'd expect in a small town like Bowling Green.

I was really looking forward to this pace after my friend posted a notice about the opening in Bowling Green, KY. My husband and I came down today for a soccer tournament and stopped in to eat prior to the game. He ordered a beef & lamb pita sandwich and I got the Original Bowl with beef and lamb. My bowl came with greens, tomatoes, their onion "salad" (I don't know what it's called a salad, there's no dressing on it. It's just sliced onions and maybe a little parsley.) and rice. It also had a container of the taziki sauce in the bowl. I poured every drop of it onto my bowl and it was still dry. Also know that if you get your food to go, they do not have salt and pepper packets so stop and use the table containers. We also got a side falafel and to round out the experience, we ordered a baklava crepe. Ok so now that we have established the dry entrees, let's move on. The falafel is good. The outside is crispy and the inside is good, not as dry as I expected after the entrees. The crepe however was awful! If you want to feel like you are eating perfume, order it. Otherwise I'd try one of the other options. All in all, it was expensive and definitely not worth it. Would I try it again? Yes, IF it was free. Then if it was more moist and a different crepe was better, I would update my review. I want to say again how much I was looking forward to this meal and maybe that's part of the disappointment. :(

Sam's Gyros is a hidden gem tucked into an average looking strip mall in Bowling Green, KY. My big…read moreregret about Sam's is that though I've spent months in Bowling Green, I hadn't tried Sam's until last week. Well, after my first visit, it's safe to say I've found one of my new Bowling Green Staples! Because of its nondescript location, it can be easy to overlook Sam's as just another restaurant in a sea of restaurants in a bustling College Town. However you'll find that it's often recommended both online and by locals as one of the ideal spots for a Mediterranean lunch. The menu is refreshingly simple, and offers most (if not all) of the entrees for less than $10. The ingredients are basic, but pack a punch where they're needed the most, taste and value. As a dining experience, it's no-frills, and honestly that's not at all a bad thing. Keto/ Low Carb Folks: I'd recommend going for a Chicken or Beef Greek Salad (It's even advertised as 0 carbs!). While there can certainly be some sneaky carbs in this dish, it easily fits what you're looking for in a Keto Meal. Overall, if you're looking for quick, high-value, low-cost, simple and tasty Mediterranean meal in BG, you owe it to yourself to give Sam's Gyros a try!
