The drinks are cheap, which is exactly what you want in a college bar. The place is dirty. Like not clean whatsoever...but that is a college bar for you! Sometimes the workers will hog the touchtunes and will play the most obnoxious music I've ever heard. This place serves its true purpose tho, which is a college bar that serves cheap alcohol. Me and a group of guys stopped here afyer filming the Eastern vs. Western Kentucky game. It was one of the only places still serving food at 12:30 am on a Saturday (technically sunday) night. We were told to "avoid at all costs" due to the fact that it's a college bar and we would get no service and probably wouldn't get food in time. As we approached the bar we could see it was absolutely packed but still managed to get in the door rather quickly. It was the colleges first football game of the season so this will give youbas representation of how crazy this place was. I approached the server station and explained we had been working all day and just wanted to order some food and drinks before the kitchen closed. The server allowed us to order right at the server station to speed up the process and make it as painless as possible. Even with college kids shoulder to shoulder our server still managed to find us a very accommodating table and was one of the best servers I ever had. Our drinks stayed full and our food came to us in a very reasonable time. She was pushing her way through the crowd every sonoften just to check on us. Now for the food, we ordered 2 large pizzas with the specialty crust. One was a chicken bacon ranch and the other was either buffalo or bbq I can't remember bit let me just say the chicken bacon ranch pizza was absolutely remarkable! It had fresh jalapenos, bacon, ranch and chicken. We liked it so much we wished we had ordered 2 of that kind. We also got wings which were good but a little too rubbery for my liking which was probably a result of the kitchen being so busy. The wings were still cooked well enough to consume but I would have preferred them a little more crispy. All in all we got 2 large pizzas, 24 wings and 3 pitchers of beer for around $50!!! What a deal! Not to mention they had 90s Nickelodeon on the entire time! Keenan & Kel, rugrats and All That! I know one thing, if I am ever in Bowling Green again I am ordering one of those chicken bacon ranch pizzas all for myself! P.s. This bar is just decent overall. I have been twice and both experiences were around the same. The drinks aren't that great. I tried a cranberry vodka, took one sip and had to sit it out. Just wasn't good. However, the prices are great. Besides the drinks, there's food and it's good. A friend and I split cheese bread and nachos. Both were not disappointing at all. The atmosphere is just okay. There is a dance floor which was filled with people being sloppy drunk and guys staring the entire time. It's nice to go when it's on a slow day but it's crazy when it's game day or Saturday night. Overall it's nice, but not one of my favorites read more

Eh. Hilligan's is alright. Not my bar of choice, but it's the only one I've been acquainted with so far in Bowling Green, and unfortunately there aren't a whole lot to choose from. Just like all of the other reviews mention, it's a college bar. It will be 98% college students, 1% creepy old men looking for college girls, and 1% other. I've been here twice, and both experiences were pretty similar. If you come around 9-11 on a night with no big games going on, it can be nice. Not too crowded, service should be quick, and you should have no problem finding a table. However, if you decide to come later or on a night the Hilltopper's are playing, it's going to be insane. The drinks are cheap, but are a hit or miss. One night a friend and I were able to score a $5 pitcher of Shocktop, and well drinks can be from $2-5$. Pretty nice. The bad part is that it's probably going to be poorly made. My friend ordered a cranberry vodka (her favorite drink) took one sip, winced and went to throw the cup straight in the garbage. I tried it also, and it was absolutely disgusting. It was so watered down, it literally tasted like it was mixed with vodka and flavored water. To give them some credit though, the amaretto sours weren't bad. The scene is just not my style. Although I am a college student, It gets loud and sloppy on weekends, and seems to be filled with a bunch of wasted frat boys. They've got a little dance floor in the back, which can either be fun or, once again, sloppy. Just depends on the night you go. I haven't tried the food yet so I don't have anything to say about that. I don't mind going to Hillgan's, but if I had the choice, I'd like to try somewhere else the next time I'm in Bowling Green. read more

WARNING-On a pretty slow and dead night at the place if one wants the volume turned up on a television that is out in the seating area away from the bar so that one may hear the game then one dare not try to turn the volume up by oneself with the buttons on the side of the TV. Doing so will get one barked at by the staff wherein they will essentially push the same volume button that still doesn't turn up the volume and then they just leave and return to their work. I don't know if this guy was having a bad night or what, or is perhaps a total douche bag, but this experience was unpleasant to say the least. He growled not to touch the TV's and this was apparently the reason for his displeasure. I was just trying to prevent someone from stopping what they were doing, but I suppose if I asked to have the TV turned up that he'd growled just the same. Yes, this is an anecdotal addendum to the review and doesn't detract from the overall atmosphere of the place but the person could have been more polite. read more

For a campus greasy spoon, this place is fun and a good deal. We went on a Sunday night (slow!) and they had $5 12" one-topping pizzas that were quite decent. But first we started with "cheese bread" which we loved more than the pizza. It's as big as a pizza and far more pizza-like than bread-like. Served with marinara sauce. We gobbled it down. They also had great $6 domestic beer pitcher deals. It's a fun spot. They have a full bar with a digital jukebox, which I'd never seen before, and a little stage. The dining room has one large tv screen and several small ones plus several booths and well-spaced tables. There's a second bar with tables past the stage and the bathrooms. In the back of the much-larger-than-it-looks undergrad hang-out spot, you find a room with three or four pool tables. Overall, the place was clean and modern. Our servers were attentive, kind, and helpful. Indeed we had several people waiting on us. The place was quiet due to the school night thing, but I imagine it'd be fun and hopping on a weekend. We were impressed and took home tons of leftovers that we actually want to eat! read more

I have been to Hilligans fore multiple years. However, this weekend the bouncers were unconcerned for the well being of their customers. There was a thunderstorm and the bouncers demanded we "get off the porch or leave." We had friends that had a table with extra seats to allow us to sit and abide by COVID-19 restrictions. However, they would not hear us out and refused our business. We wanted food and drinks but we decided to go for a drive-thru since the staff was so inhospitable. It was not worth the free coupon we had. After 4 years of business, it is ridiculous that they handled it this way, unrelated to Covid restrictions. I will not be driving to Hilligans now. One of them told my friend (a retired Army colonel, who remained entirely respectful), "Stand up!" while producing his ID. I did not hear a 'please'. Seemed like a heavy-handed and inappropriate way to treat a senior citizen causing no disturbance of any kind. So, a disconcerting note to an otherwise delightful evening. Where to start...Hilly's is like a second home. It's a bar for all ages; although Thursday - Saturday nights are typically for the college-aged crowd. Strong drinks, great prices, fast service. It can get pretty crowded, but definitely worth it. Drink specials are crazy good. The cheesy bread and chicken bacon ranch pizza is mouthwatering. I was in Bowling Green for parents weekend. My daughter recently turned 21 so we went to have something to eat and a drink. This seems like a typical college bar/eatery. There are similar complaints like me. A few weeks ago me and my group of friends go to Hilligans. All of them were international students and people of color. Anyways, me and boyfriend order drinks and they checked for our ID. And one of my friend join us and sit on our table. He took one of my drinks and MIGHT I ADD, MY FRIEND LOOKS LIKE HE IS UNDERAGE.It seems like there is no problem at all AND THEY DIDN'T EVEN BOTHER TO CHECK HIS ID!!And the next two African-American friends join us. That's where it started. One of the waiter start speaking to the manager, and approach to them and ask for their ID's.So one of my friend, didn't have his ID with him, so the waiter ask him to leave the property. Its cool by then. We started to buy drinks on the porch and sit in the corner, so that the guy who doesn't have ID could stand outside the porch could talk with us. Fast forward, now they checked all of our ID's when we started to buy drinks. But, all of the staffs were not happy with us. The guy who doesn't have ID, started to take our drinks and join our table. Every time, the staff asked him to leave in which I understand. They are following the protocols. The thing I don't understand is one of the bartenders walked right into our table, before the bar close, took our empty cups and grabbed the drink furiously from the guy who does not have an ID. Might I add, this guy who doesn't have an ID does not look like an underage at all. He at least look like he is in his 30's. I know it does not matter rules are rules. But this bartender slammed my boyfriend empty beer bottle and walked away furiously. I never feel disrespected in my life. As a paying customers, I don't think we should be treated this way. When I confronted this to the manager, the manager said " We asked your friend to leave for a few times and he was drinking when he didn't have and ID so, yeah, they might feel angry." She was implying me that her staff are okay to act that way. I am really shocked and disgusted by this kind of behavior. I will never set my foot in this disgusting place again!!!I have been to bars around BG and they never treated me the way Hilligans have. Oh by the way, when I asked the manager that if they are treating us like becuz we are international people, she replied that its not the case because the bartender who slam the beer bottle on our table is a Mexican and was born in Mexico. Our daughter goes to WKU and this is one of her favorite places. However, I am definitely too old for colleges bars anymore, alas and alack. The place was very busy for the Hilltoppers game, but a bar in a college town with the name of Hilligans should be prepared for a crowd, especially when they are calling their place a sports bar. Service was slow, there did not seem to be any pattern to the tables. No one was seating customers, we waited a long time for someone to come take our order. We had drinks, salsa trio, and pizza bread, and the beer was skunky, the rum and Coke had flat Coke, and knowing this is a college bar, I wasn't surprised. The beers lines definitely need to be cleaned, and continued cleaning on a regular basis. The pizza bread was good and served hot, with marinara for dipping. The salsa, quest, and the guacamole dips were good, but the tortilla chips were less than great. They weren't very crisp. The crowd was typically boisterous, as college students with alcohol in them tend to be. If you are a twenty or even thirty something then you will probably love this place. Ages 21 and up only, so don't try to drag kids along. read more

One night myself and some friends went in there and they swiped my card to open a tab. I left 30 minutes later and didn't close my tab accidentally. I assume they allowed people other than myself order drinks after I had departed. To the tune of $300. I denied the charge and now after minor investigation the receipt wasn't even signed by me. They still claim I owe the money even though they claim to have video of incident but won't release it. I have heard repeatedly that this place will fraudently place bogus charges on people's cards. I wouldn't have cared due to the dispute and the credit card taking it off my balance due but upon my return to the place they claim I still owe the money or I'm not allowed on property. So therefore will continue to pursue this endeavor of publicly shaming their less than ethical tactics until compromise or judicial retribution is agreed upon. It's important to keep in mind that this is a college bar located less than a mile from a college campus. That being said, with my level of expectation already at the floor this place managed to lower them even further. Any busy night you go here expect to wait 30 min for a drink unless you happen to be wearing a low cut top. Management was extraordinarily rude to me every one of the handful of times that I have gone; they acted as if they clearly didn't need my money. The food was great and I would want to come back but when my boyfriend and I went today we didn't feel welcome. We enjoy the bar feel and decided to check this place out. When we came in it was pretty empty which was fine. He carded us and asked if we wanted alcohol. We said no and were seated. He asked if we needed menus and was slow to come back saying it had gotten busy even though they were still pretty empty. He made a comment that the bar was really more for drinkers. When I ordered wings and asked what flavors were best he said the food was ok and he really hated the wing flavors. Each time he came back to check he seemed like he was being put out of his way and then he handed us the receipts and said we could pay inside of we were in a rush. Again in Jan 2016 and the pizza came out undercooked. It reminded me of domino's pizza back before they revamped their recipe. Their pizza suffers from a lack of consistency of quality.
