Laurie's Flash Framers - Framing Near Me - Sherman Oaks, California

Anything special that needs framing goes to Flash Framers. They have a way of taking any piece of art or memorabilia, from cherished family photos and personal keepsakes, to one of a kind art pieces with sentimental value, and creating a finished product that is more than what I could have envisioned. They know color, they know style, they listen to what you want and then deliver something even better. I recently brought in a vintage Japanese drawing that I found in an old bookstore in Kyoto and asked for it to be framed on both sides so I wouldn't lose any of the handwritten notes that accompanied it. They did a beautiful job of preserving the art, protecting it for years to come, and displaying it in a way that feels like it just adds to the story. Thank you to Brittany & Laurie for the attention to detail and care. read more

When I picked it up, it looked even better than remember agreeing on. That was really a nice surprise.

Absolutely stellar framing and warm and talented customer service. This is an A+++ rated business among all businesses, not just framing. Brittany is fantastic: friendly, knowledgeable, efficient, precise, charming, and provides quality framing expertise. She is delightful to work with and gives her full attention to ensure she will make the outcome meet with high customer satisfaction. She excels in customer service abilities, communication skills, and professionalism. My framing is beautiful and stunning and was very reasonably priced. Thank you. read more

I recently had my two prints done here and I am very impressed with the finished result. As soon as the frame picking process started, I was also recommended an inner accent border that added so much to the prints. A very sharp set of eyes at this shop and price point that was reasonable. Customer service was best in the valley in my book. Thanks again for all your help! read more

Great customer service. She went above and beyond to help with something that turned out to be very challenging.

Thanks to Brittany, Laurie's has won my future business. I have an antique framed print that I was given after my grandmother passed away. A few weeks ago, the sawtooth on the back fell off. Part of the charm of this print is the wooden gilded frame, so I wanted to have it repaired, not replaced. I called several frame shops who said they won't/don't do repairs. When I called Laurie's, Brittany was so friendly and helpful and asked me to send her a picture and she would let me know. I sent the pic and she replied she could fix it. I brought it in today, and she was indeed able to put a new sawtooth on. I am so grateful and happy to have it hanging back on my wall. Will definitely use them for any future framing needs. read more

WHERE DO I EVEN BEGIN? Laurie is an absolutely fantastic business owner and person. I immediately felt like family when i walked into her amazing store. The walls are COVERED with frame options that you didn't even know existed. She is wonderful to talk to and SO knowledgeable about framing, what works and what doesn't. It is a pleasure to work with her on figuring out what is perfect for your artwork. I have used plenty of framers before but never seen such quality and dedication to the craft as i did at Laurie's. Will never be going anywhere else again! Thank you so much Laurie for your help! read more

I first went to Laurie's more than for 30+ years. Most everything on my walls was framed by Laurie. I have frames to which she added custom color. I've spent hours debating over mattes and frames. Every single time, I've been ecstatic with the results and with The customer service and patience I was shown. They are currently making a minor repair to a piece that they framed probably 30 years ago. Laurie and her team truly stand by their work! read more

Laurie's Flash Framers is the only place I will ever go to get my framing done. Not only does she do beautiful work, she also always helps me to choose the right colors and textures that enhances my artwork and cherished pieces. When my father passed, she framed his cherished Patriot Rider leather vest, pins and photos from when he served in the Army. She even put a small engraved plaque in it. She somehow captured his spirit-filled life in her work. Now I have the most beautiful tribute to my dad proudly hanging in the entrance to my home. Sweetest gift ever in that framing job. She also has really pretty frames that are ready to buy in the front of the store. It's so much fun to look at all of the choices in framing materials which are displayed on the walls. It's not even overwhelming because she helps all the way through. Thank you Laurie. You treat everyone with so much care. Five stars to you!! read more

Laurie is easily the most wonderful and kind store owner I've ever come across. She spent more time than I would ever expect walking me through frame options as well as the pros and cons of each. You want professional, you want the right framing job to match your art and to be appropriate for your home or office? Lauries' is the place then. It's almost an innately psychic talent she has. During her consultation, she examines the art, asks all the right questions and even some unexpected ones that really help her design around it; who's it for, what's the lighting going to be like, where's it going, etc....but the real talent is when she hand picks what she thinks is best for the art. It's weird, but her first pick is generally the right selection. Of course, she'll humor you and allow you to try 10 million other combinations, but when it gets right down to it, she knows what she's doing. I've seen the quality of her work as my friend has been going to her forever, and everything she frames looks exquisite, appropriate, and professional. So I decided..why not, give her a try with two really important pieces I was going to give as gifts. And voila...not only did they turn out spectacularly great, but once again, her first picks for each frame was what I ended up with. Perfection. read more

Have used her for quite few years spending thousands of $$ there without issues. Been between a year or 2 since last visit. Went in on a Saturday couple weeks ago. There were a couple guys she was attending so I waited. I'm positive she recognized me but she did not acknowledge me. These 2 boys kept going on and on and on with her seemingly trying to save $25 or something. After about 20 minutes of standing around and waiting another guy walks in. During a short pause with her conversation with the other 2 boys the guy that had recently walked in butted in in front of me and asked "Can I just ask you a question? Won't take more than 30 seconds". Well...it took more than 30 seconds and Laurie did not have the courtesy to acknowledge me to at least ask if I would mind if she answered his question. So she attends to him and when she's done she goes back to speaking with the other 2 boys. By now I have been standing around waiting patiently for near 30 minutes and finally she comes up to me (I'm holding my art piece with me) and asks if I could leave the piece there and go find something to do for a half hour or hour and by the time I come back she can discuss with me. I had driven from Woodland Hills in 101 freeway traffic in order to come back and do more business with her. I had 3 other large paintings in the trunk of my car. Anyway, when she asked me to "come back later" I told her absolutely Not. If I have a pet peeve and the one thing I cannot stand it was BAD customer service. I give her 4 to 5 stars for workmanship but as a long-standing client that has spent thousands of $$$ there and to be ignored for 30 minutes I give her a ZERO for service. I'm seeking a new alternative. read more

I've known Laurie for just about 20 years. In those 20 years I've seen and heard customer after customer rave about her framing. She's always been one of the most honest and sweetest women I've come to know. I can't wait to get something framed next time I come to California. If you're going through reviews, trying to figure out who to frame with, just stop now. She deserves your business and YOU deserve her craft, quality, and expertise. read more

I had artwork created for my office and knew that having them framed would be pricey. I came to Laurie's and she gave me a number of options and recommendations. She gave me an affordable price for the cost of three paintings and was super efficient. I would highly recommend coming back and coming here to get a quote for your artwork. read more

She really complimented all of our artwork with her flare for design and color coordinating! Would go again!

I've been using Laurie for years. She's framed almost everything in my house from oil paintings to lithographs to photographs. Hands down she's the best framer I've ever worked with. What I really like about Laurie is that she treats everything as a unique piece of art. She doesn't try force your pieces into a certain style that appeals to her. She's equally able to come up with ultra modern frames as traditional ones. She has a gift! Laurie's able to work with any type of customer - from someone like me who's clueless when it comes to framing artwork to interior designers. I highly recommend her! read more

Years ago I was referred to Lauries' Flash Framers by an interior decorator. I never realized that framing requires talent. Laurie is exceptional at what she does. My home and business' art work have all been framed by Laurie over the years. I receive so many compliments. I have discovered that it is the framing that can truly make the piece even more exceptional or possibly bring it to life. Someone said in their review that she has a psychic eye. I couldn't agree more. She is a master of framing. You will be blown away by her unique gift!!! read more

Laurie is very patient and professional with her customers. Not only she gave me many options to select the right frame for my diploma, she also helped me choose the perfect frame for a picture that I wanted framed. By the way, her assistant Britney is fantastic as well, always very helpful and sweet. I highly recommend this place. read more

They do an excellent job, amazing service and their work is beyond compare. Great service and beautiful materials and frame work.

After my dad passed we came to Laurie to frame some of his personal items into a shadow box. We weren't sure what to expect but when the entire family saw the outcome we were in complete awe. It was so beautiful, she framed it in such a way that we knew she poured a lot of care into it after hearing stories shared with her about my father. Six years later the shadow box still hangs on the wall in all of its splendor. I can't imagine anyone doing a better job and I can't imagine going to anyone else but Laurie for now on. read more

I had a similar problem with this frame place as the woman who had to sue her. She is very expensive makes mistakes and isn't helpful when you want them corrected. I will never use her again. I'm only giving one star because this app won't let you go on unless you press a star . Otherwise I would give her no stars read more

I've been a customer of Laurie's for over 25 years. She is the best. I rely on her not only for her expertise and artistic eye, her workmanship and the high quality materials she uses, but also because she stands behind her work. She goes above and beyond to make her customers happy and she is the most accommodating vendor I have. And I have a lot of vendors! In my line of work it is essential to only have the best people working on my assets. As for the reviews by L.D.F and Janet F., they are crazy. And obviously wrong since every other Yelp review of Laurie's is glowing! read more

They really went above and beyond to replace the glass in a VERY tricky frame. I don't think any other framer would have taken the time or put in the energy that they did. I could not be happier or more appreciative!! read more

Laurie has been framing my photos, oil paintings, watercolors, etc. for twenty years. She is great! She has a wonderful eye for what looks good--even though we don't always agree. Thank you Laurie!!! I was in a jam and Laurie totally took care of me. I had taken a piece of art to one of those larger chain stores who also sell art supplies. It was a birthday gift for someone special and I was told that the piece would take up to two weeks. On day 12 I called to check progress and was informed at that time that the frame they custom ordered for me had been lost by UPS. There was no way my artwork was going to be ready on time. I called Laurie at 11:00AM, went in to see her at noon, picked up the beautifully framed artwork at 5:00PM. She saved the day! She was fast, reasonable and super nice! She also has an amazing eye. She showed me what I thought I wanted and then threw in a suggestion of her own, which was way better (and cheaper) than what I was going for! Thanks again Laurie!!! read more

Thank you so much for all the great frames you have provided for me. I love the unique designs. Look forward in getting more framing done.

Be careful having things framed here. I had to SUCCESSFULLY SUE Laurie Stokes owner Laurie's Flash Framers in the Van Nuys Civil Court to get my money back after she botched up the job. I brought her a tapestry from India to be framed. She told me that she knew how to frame this kind of art. I trusted her. She used plexiglass instead of museum glass because she told me that that was the best way to frame it. I never questioned the cost to frame it. (She charged over 1,300 dollars). When I had the piece hung on the wall, it was difficult to clearly see the art. But she told me that it would be many thousands of dollars more to use museum glass on the piece. I accepted her statement. Within two months the art work fell inside the frame. I took it to another framer. He showed me that Laurie had used an improper method to hang the tapestry causing it to fall. She used a few little plastic clips to hold the piece up in the frame. They broke from the weight. He reframed it using metal line so that it could never fall. He also told me that it should have been framed using museum glass. I told her and even gave her the name of the framer who she called. The new framer told me that she didn't use museum glass because she said she didn't know (Nothing to do with cost). She refused to give me my money back so that I could have it reframed. Ferguson did a great job putting it in the frame properly and used museum glass and he charged me about the same amount to put the museum glass on that she charged for the plexiglass. After making oral and written demand for my money ,I had to sue her. I was successfully in the Van Nuys court. She was shocked when the judge told her that I was correct in having my art reframed by another framer that I didn't need to go back to her. I would not go back there since she didn't what she was doing in the first place. She was ordered to pay me within 30 days. She even failed to follow the court order. I had to send her a judgement debtor form and another demand that if she didn't pay me I I would again go back to the court. She finally sent me my money. You don't need this kind of hassle. There are plenty of qualified framers in L.A. That will do the framing correctly . read more
