We were definitely in the mood for Cuban food. The place was pretty busy but we snagged a table inside and our server took our orders pretty quickly. They had lots of tables inside, and had a very large covered outside seating area. It was too humid and hot for us to sit outside - we Floridians like our A/C!! I ordered a veggie sandwich, along with a side of tostones and an avocado salad. My mom wasn't very hungry so she just ordered the Caldo Gallego which she said was very good. My sandwich was tasty and the tostones were huge and plentiful. Mom shared my tostones and avocado salad - the avocados were perfectly ripe. The servers were friendly and attentive. Next time I'm in Miami, I want to try their rice and beans.

If it looks bad, it is bad! The waitress was very polite and courteous, but it didn't make up for the "rock hard" tostones! I had the yellow rice with pork chunks and fried plantains that did not look fresh at all. Sent the tostones back for softer ones, but received hot and still hard ones. My wife did have a good split pea soup that was satisfactory. Ambiance was typical Miami Cuban vibe. Hate to say this, but too many other better places to go in Miami. Loyal customers will continue to come here, but we won't.

I enjoyed the leftover steak on a salad the next day. The ambiance is upscale, quiet and suitable for conversation. I highly recommend Francesco Restaurant.
