Latin Cafe is hit or miss. Their churrasco is usually a hit. The black beans are consistently good too. However, for 3 meals in a row, the rice was over cooked and dry. I had the red snapper on another visit and was disappointed as it was overcooked too. At this writing, I had the Bistec de Palomilla and although the flavor was good, it was also a bit dry for my tastes. Back to the rice...I mean, come on. They either cook one huge batch at the beginning of lunch and serve it all day or they just plain old don't know how to make rice. Is it lack of training? Just lack of quality control? I don't know. I do know that a little place one block away called La Granja has consistently great rice. It's always nicely cooked, flavorful and never old or dry. Latin Cafe's management should give it a try and learn how they do it. Look, this may come across as slamming Latin Cafe and I really don't mean to come across that way. I usually stay at a nearby hotel with my work travels and I always look forward to coming here. They just need to be more consistent and clean up the rough edges. The place is clean and the staff is genuinely friendly while providing good service. If it were not for the staff, I would've rated 2 stars due to the inconsistent food quality. read more

Such a perfect and easy stop to make for the Cuban food that you crave. This is such a welcoming spot and everyone is on point and very friendly. We had the mahi sandwich and it's so big that I'm glad we split it so we could get a few other things on the menu. We found the restaurant by accident and extremely pleases with the result. If you are lucky enough to get Jovana as your server (not sure of the spelling, but she used to work for the Latin American in Vizcayne) she is extremely efficient and and will not steer you wrong. I felt like eating a churrasco and to be honest it was cook perfectly and incredibly tender. Also it was a true skirt steak on this day and age that many restaurants are replacing the skirt steak for flank steak. Is not the same nor it taste the same. We came here for lunch before our flight to Cuba. At first, we hesitated about having Cuban food before going to Cuba. Did we really want to have it if that was all we were going to eat for a week? Well, I am so glad we ate here. The experience was absolutely wonderful. The menu is huge with lots and lots of options, much like a diner. I agonized about what to order. Everything looked so good. Eventually I settled on the omelette with plantains, which was fluffy and savory. My husband had the churros, which were light and delicious, and the steak sandwich, which also was yummy. In looking at the plates of our fellow diners, you could see that you couldn't make a single mistake in ordering there. Everything appears to be fresh and smelled so good. Our waitress was so kind and attentive. She said that she worked there for 12 years. You could also see many repeat customers there, with whom she was speaking; she definitely had her regulars. We had a break in between flights for out return home a week later, and tried to return for dinner. However, we were short on time, and were disappointed when we were unable to make it. If we make it back to Miami, we will WITHOUT QUESTION, go back there. We loved this place. YOU MUST GO! read more

First stop on my food tour of Miami. A very close stop to the airport. I used the walk up window for some quick bites and coffee. Very authentic and very fast. The coffee if the best. Get it, sip savor, enjoy. Had a couple beef empanadas and potato balls. Everything was super fresh and flavorful. The delighted sortie was the watermelon juice. It wss like biting into a fresh watermelon on s summer day. All in all, if coffee back for a full dining experience and evaluate the customer service and venue. Ordered a wide variety of items to be delivered to our hotel since we didn't have the desire to venture outward. We ordered the ceviche (our favorite thing we got!), blackened Mahi tacos, cheese and guava tequenos, beef empanadas (would have been better if it wasn't missing the dipping sauce), the Elena guava sandwich (2nd favorite) & the bistec de res a la milanesa w the rice bean mix (moros o congris) and mashed potatoes. I am definitely a fan but I feel out of place, since I don't speak Spanish. Carryout orders, the phone will be answered in Spanish, so don't be surprised. The food here is excellent, I tried many dishes and they were all good. I ordered the palomilla and we got a pitcher of sangria to share. The steak was delicious. Our server brought our cups full of fruit and poured our sangria at the table and left the rest of the pitcher. I bought the Creole Shrimp plate with sweet plantains and steamed vegetables. I had ordered just that and saw that I get a free Elena Guava sandwich for checking in on Yelp and showed it to them because why not? They added it to my order and told me that the offer had expired so I told them that I don't want it anymore. The guy next to me ordered and paid for a cafe con leche for me (very sweet of him). The order came out to $30 and at first, I thought maybe the shrimp plate was pricier than I thought so I hit "print receipt" to view my order. They never gave me my receipt. When I looked on the menu, the shrimp plate itself should have only been $14.49 so I was confused. I asked them for my receipt when I finally got my food (where she dug out of the trash to find it for me) and I saw that they charged me for the Elena Guava Sandwich and the cafe con leche. I should have spoken up about it at the restaurant but I had a flight to catch so I had to leave as soon as I got my food. When I opened my container, I see 5 shrimps and 3 plantains...idk if that's normal..but I guess for $15, that's fine. The fact that I paid $30 for that, I'm not super happy with. They did add the sandwich in my bag but I wouldn't have ordered it if it weren't for the (expired) offer..the food itself was ok but I'm pretty disappointed in the portions (just because a ton of reviews say that the portions here are normally huge) and the service. read more

Not sure why this place doesn't get more good reviews. It's not pretty but it's not a dive either. It's also very reasonable for what you get I had the Churrasco with Chimichurri. A skirt steak grilled to perfection with a very nice char. It didn't say prime on the menu but it could have passed for prime. The steak was juicy and tasty but pretty much just thrown on the plate with a bit of iceberg lettuce mix for presentation. Hence the loss of a star. But it's a star that's not important. It comes with a choice of two sides. I got the sweet plantains and French fries. Fries were ok plantains were perfect. I also got a bowl Sopa de Cebolla Gratinada. French Onion Soup. A bit salty but lots of melted cheese that could have had a bit more char to the crust but also very good. The person I was with got the Blackened Mahi Mahi and Salad plus black beans and rice. Once again the presentation was lacking but he cleaned his plate. It was less than $50 for both of us including the tip. If I lived anywhere near this place I would be there 5 times a week. As I was heading to my hotel I realized that Latin Café 2000 had an awesome walk up window. I stopped by the next morning and there were a few people in line and I saw that the restaurant was already open serving breakfast. They have a really cool Smart Car wrapped in their logo and a rooster running around the parking lot. I took a seat at the counter and the server welcomed me, shared a menu - I ordered the Tortilla Latin Café 2000 ($7.99) it was an omelet with a choice of fillings, I had Spanish sausage and American cheese (there were lots of other options too); it also comes with Cuban toast, potatoes and café con leche. They brought me a hot cup of steamed milk with a small metal pitcher of strong Cuban coffee on the side, a basket with a huge slab of buttered pressed Cuban toast and an omelet with lots of cheese and sausage. The server was very friendly, took great care of me, checking back to see if I needed anything else. Great service, wonderful Cuban food and a great value. There seems to be plenty of parking and they have an outside patio as well; I can't wait to be back in Miami to check them out for other food! read more

STAY AWAY!! This restaurant is NASTY! These guys reuse the plastic take-home souvenir cups that are left behind, and guess what? THEY DON'T WASH THEM! Take a look at the pictures of where my drink and my fathers drink was served. These guys need to be inspected ASAP!
