This was a 50/50 visit. Ordered breaded steak with rice mixed with beans. I was assuming that the beans were black beans and rice mixed and they ended up turning out to be red dry pasty beans. Although I have been there many time on Saturday 9/12/2020 I was supposed to meet my sister at Latin Cafe. While on my way there to meet her she noticed a parking spot closer to were she was sitting outside and decided to move her vehicle closer because it was raining. She left her face mask & wallet on the table because it only took 2min to move her car. When she returned her wallet and mask was gone! When she ask the workers what happened to her wallet EVERYONE pretended as if they didn't speak English, they weren't helpful at all. Mind you the restaurant was COMPLETELY EMPTY due to the rain & Social Distancing restrictions I AM BEYOND LIVID! After calling the police officer the workers still refused to review the cameras! & suggested that I return on Monday! Latin Cafe I will never set foot in your establishment your employees are thieves! There was absolutely no one in the restaurant I'm lost for words! It's not the first time I order form here, In fact I have ordered a few times because it is right next door to my home and they have their days but as of late, the staff has been rude and unprofessional and something is ALWAYS wrong with my order. Today I ordered for pick up, a steak sandwich, something simple! I asked to please add Mayo and ketchup. I didn't think it would be a mission! Upon receiving my order, I checked my food as usual and come to see that the bread is literally burnt and basically old left over form breakfast I guess. It was unacceptable. I took a bite to see if it was better than it looked and of course it wasn't. I went back to return the sandwich to swap out for another bread. They gave me an attitude like if I was dumb for not wanting to eat hard bread. It's a $10 sandwich. That's not cheap for a steak sandwich. I was given back my sandwich but this time they just game me steak and bread, the steak of course wasn't even reheated, no lettuce, no tomato, nothing! So I asked for my money back but they insisted to make another sandwich. The steak still wasn't reheated and by this time my fries were cold, they didn't even bother to switch out the old food to new food, gave me the sandwich sloppy and gave me my condiments on the side and told me to put it on myself. So I'm back in Miami from a year long "hiatus". I've obviously been craving the usual Miami staples. Croquetas, pan con bistec, Flanigans, cubans, pastelitos, batidos... you catch my drift. I stopped by Latin Cafe 2000 at about 11:00 am on a Saturday to get my pan con bistec fix. I hadn't eaten at this location in a few years and decided I'd give it a try. Their menu has all of the basic Cuban fixings which you would normally expect. I looked through it to see if I would want anything else but I had my heart set on that Pan con Bistec! The line at the window was very long so I called in my order. They gave me a 15 minute wait time and after they passed, I went up to the window to pick up my treat! When I got to the window, no one acknowledged me for a few minutes. Ok, fine. They asked me if I was picking up and I said yes and asked them to add a croqueta to my order. Paid for my food and left. I had the croqueta on my drive home and OMG!!! It was wayyyy better than I expected and it's also HUGE! And it was very warm still. However, my pan con bistec was disappointing. Let's break this down... The star of the show, the bistec, was dry and tough. To the point where I had to bite and pull to tear off that piece. It wasn't as flavorful as I expected either. It was very thin and very small. The sandwich was mostly bread. The last few bites were JUST bread. There were no onions added. Just tomato and lettuce and little shoestring potatoes. No flavor, very bland. And to make matters worst, they priced this blandness at 9.99!!!! Really?! I'm not against paying that much for a sandwich but Latin Cafe 2000, if you're going to charge that much, you better make damned sure it's worth it! Discrimination at its best! DO NOT PATRONIZE THIS PLACE. EVER! On my way to dropping off my friend at the airport, we decided to stop at this place to have some sangria. We ordered a pitcher of sangria and were told by the waiter that we needed to order an appetizer in order to be able to purchase the drinks. I asked why? He said we dont serve drinks unless you order food. I asked for the manager. The came and manager literally repeated the same thing and offered to have the owner come out and explain. The owner comes out and says, I hold a Consumption License and unless you eat, you cant drink. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. As a foodie, I've eaten at thousands of places and I've never heard of that. I asked the owner are you sure this is not just your policy and not the law? To which he replied: I'm the owner and I have no need to lie. That is the law. He repeated himself and said if you dont purchase at least an appetizer we cant serve you. Then he proceeded to point to another restaurant down the street and told us if we wanted to drink that we could go there. Well, we left embarrassed and humiliated and I said to myself I would look into this. Low and behold the owner was lying. I called DBPR and according to Florida Alcohol and Beverage Law there's no such clause or requirement. A Consumption License allows restaurants owners to also sell Wine and Beer within their food establishment. As simple as that. I must add that my friend was visiting from Grand Cayman and she was shocked by the way how we were treated. To the owner, you are a liar and you shouldn't be allowed to have this business. You force your workers to lie and you are a disgrace to the State of Florida and the business owners represented here. I had one of the best dining experience of my life here. I love Cuban food, and I am starved of it in my home town in Maryland. So while here with my Cuban wife and her Cuban high school friend, we went to Latin Cafe. The Peccadillo is Awesome. The croquetas sampler platter is to die for. Cuban sandwich, OMG! The portions are AMPLE. This place is as close to an authentic Cuban dining experience as you could ask for. No, it IS authentic Cuban dining. We left with lots of leftovers for later. And no doubt our waiter thought that the guayabera was going to burst on this Cubanophile gringo. LatinCafe will be where I tell any of my friends visiting southern Florida to get their authentic Cuban meal. And by the way, this place is very reasonably priced. Ignore Liana H. I HIGHLY doubt they could get more authentic Cuban food then Latin Café in Miami. I ate dinner there with two Cubans, and they thought the food was pretty darn fine AND was up to CUBAN MOM STANDARDS. I have not read any of Liana H.'s other reviews, but I think they were at Denny's, and mis-identified where they were at. Truly off the mark. This restaurant is near my in law's house, so we try to make this our meeting place for lunch when we visit. The food is good, flavorful Cuban food. The service is a bit rushed, but very humble. The only reason I'm not giving them a higher rating is because their bathroom was out of order. First stall had a sign that said out of order, the second stall wouldn't flush. My 4 year old had to use the bathroom and couldn't because of this. I didn't say anything, as we were already leaving. The Latin cafe sampler was pretty good. (Croquetas, papa rellena, tamal, and a masa de puerco). Breakfast isn't offered after 11:30, but they do offer some breakfast food all day. My husband had the churrasco mariscada which included calamari & shrimp over a churrasco. Although he asked for it "medium", it was a bit too cooked but still delicious. I got the bistec de pollo empalizado (chicken cutlet) with a side of fufu de plátano. (Plantain mash) sooo good. Just wish it came with a side of mojo. My kids had rice & beans. I was today at this location in Hialeah. I understand that what we going through are strong moments but I believe that employee at this place needs to be more polite with guess. 1. Taking temperature is fine, but take into account how long is a costumer waiting under the sun to fine a seat out side. I was almost 30 mins under 95F and got sun. No air in the waiting line just on the tables and not in all of them. I got a table with out this waitress and her manager told me I can be serve because me and my family temperature show up at 99F I told her to take into account the time we been waiting I can got to the car under ac for a while then try again. This manager told me that I have fewer and I must go to the doctor. So everybody have fewer under the sun I considered fewer 100.4 F that is what doctors said not 99. But still very rude you don't tell any costumers and diagnostic because simply YOU ARE NOT A DOCTOR. I can go get tested and come back and file a claim against you and your place simply because telling me something you believe. I considered the forms to tell a costumer things not the way they treated me here is disappointed and more around this difficult times. Dining here is always a pleasure. The waitresses always welcome us as if we're guests in their home. The bilingual staff is always friendly which enhances the feel of eating in an authentic Cuban restaurant. For our breakfast routine it's well worth passing up many other restaurants on the way. The prices are very reasonable and portions are generous. I recommend eating here and asking for Ramona specifically for outstanding service. I just left Latin Cafe 2000 in Hialeah. What a horrible experience. The waiter who was in charge of our table was so unprofessional. She keep using words like "CHULA" to my daughter when she came to get the order. We order a sample platter and the stuff potatoes tasted like frozen food. The woman took for ever to give us the check and when I ask for change she say out loud a comment of disappointment because I didn't left $10.00 tips. As far as I know I'm NOT force to leave any tip if I'm not satisfied with the service. Last weekend I had a cousin visiting from New York who was desperate for some Cuban food. Of course, I did a quick search on yelp for highly rated restaurants in Hialeah. This place was one of the 1st to come up and it completely lived up to its name. Driving up I was a little skeptical of the fact that it looked very commercial. But as they say, looks can be deceiving. The hostess, our waitress, the busboy all greeted us with a welcoming smile. I love meat so I was a little overwhelmed by the menu. Pages upon pages of meaty and savory dishes. My cousin started off with their onion soup. If there was a such thing as Cuban onion soup, I'd say this was it. It looked like French onion soup but all Latin flavors. It was so good! When you go, make sure the mojo yuca is 1 of your sides! Trust me, you'll thank me! I decided on the Churassco while my cousin had the Ropa Vieja. Evey bite we took of our meal ended with an "Mmm." I even ended up ordering the lamb in wine sauce to go. I came here the other morning to get some breakfast, their Breakfast is great cause not only does it taste good but You get A LOT for a cheap Price! For $5.99 i always get Scrambled eggs, Fries, Sausage, Tostada (Cuban Bread w/ Butter) and Cafe Con Leche! Hey thats more then enough to get me started in the morning. The only other times i come here is during the day and it's mostly when im in the mood to eat chicken soup which the large (HUGE Portion) is $5 dollars and i think the small is about $3 something. With the soup they include complimentary Saltin Crackers and Lime, There service is great when you sit down inside but my only real complain is that the waitress up at the window for pick-up are Rude and always in a rush. I have been here a couple of times with my husband (when we happen to be in Miami) and it's awesome. I usually get the churassco steak and he gets the pork (we're creatures of habit). The shakes are incredible too. Very reasonable, clean and friendly staff. If you're looking for a fancy-schmancy atmosphere; this ain't it; it's a diner. I had dinner with my grandma, more like a large late night snack considering it was well after midnight at the Latin Cafe 2000 (1149 W 49th St, Hialeah). There are several Latin Cafes dotted through Miami. We had the appetizer sampler. The sampler consisted of: Tostones Rellenos con Picadillo: Delicious fried plantains which are smashed to form a little cup which contains a savory mix of ground beef and olives it has a tasty tomato base to it. Fresh they are amazing but the tostone, or plantain part of the situation doesn't reheat well at all as I learned the next day. Croquetas: A Cuban staple which is essentially chopped up ham breaded and deep fried. They are a tasty treat that is usually served with saltine crackers. I usually forego the crackers when eating them. Done right they have a soft inside and a crispy outside. A delicious ham flavour that isn't too salty. Tamal: which was tasty and had the correct proportion of masa to meat. It is absolutely horrible when you get one that is overwhelmed with too much masa. Pork: what makes pork taste better? Frying it in its own fat. You get the nice lemony flavour (though most mojo marinades are made with tasty bitter oranges) of the mojo marinade accentuated by a hint of garlic. The cooked onions that accompanied it have a slight vinegary taste. The pork is very tender with a crisp exterior. Papas Rellenas: My favourite part of Cuban cuisine hands down. I fiend for these when I am away from home. It is the perfect snack. Devinely smooth mashed potatoes coat a delicious filling of Picadillo and is deep fried to crispy perfection... Hey nobody said Cuban food was healthy. I must admit the service there left a little to be desired though. The Media Noche sandwich I had there wasn't the greatest I have had either. I was looking forward to that sweet bread with the pickles, roast pork and ham. The ham seemed of not the greatest quality and the bread was greedy. Needless to say I've had better. read more

We stopped by for a late night snack at exactly 11:59pm. and there were at least 5 tables eating inside, and a couple tables outside. We didn't sit inside but opted to order our Medianoche (meaning midnight) sandwiches at the little side window. We were greated by a Spanish speaking waitress who made us the best Cuban cortadito & cafecitos (as she called them) ! We were wired for the next 3 hours with no problem!! I came with my boyfriend recently because I had told him how great this restaurant was and because I had heard so many good things about it and because I've been to the other location. I also came for the mariquitas with the mojo. First off, the waitress took long to attend us. She asked us what we wanted to drink and asked if we wanted appetizers. I asked for the mariquitas of course and turns out they ran out. I asked for croquetas and they also ran out. I asked for another item on the menu and it turns out they also ran out. She could've just easily told me what was available. I got so fed up I didn't even order an appetizer just water and my boyfriend ordered bacon wrapped maduros and una malteada. We still didn't know what we wanted to order so we asked if she could come back in a few minutes. It took 20 minutes to bring us water and the pansito that they always bring. 20 minutes, mind you, we came in at the same time as two other parties and they had already gotten their food. My boyfriend still didn't get his malteada because she forgot to put the order in. By the time she came back with the malteada and my boyfriend's maduros, the other parties were basically done eating. I ordered the chicken cordon blue and it was the driest chicken I had ever had. In the menu it said the dish had cheese, but the cheese was nowhere to be found. The malteada didn't even taste like a malteada and the maduros had a really weird tasting sauce on them and the presentation was unappetizing. It seemed like the restaurant was prioritizing older looking customers over us because we look young. There wasn't a lot of people there so it's not like it was TOO BUSY. I have been ordering food at this place for years, last Tuesday, I went to pick up the food for my family like I do every weekday for our lunches and when I asked for my ordered the employee at the window started yelling at me and calling me clown in front of other customers. We complaint to the manager Yoandry, and the employee was referred to human resources. After 1 week, the employee will go back to her job. We are not coming back to this place.
