Love ordering out from this restaurant on nights that I get home too late to cook. While there are many restaurants that offer Cuban food in the area, few places do it as well as Latin Café. Love the fact they deliver! I live about two blocks away from the restaurant but sometimes after working 10+ hours shift, you just don't want to take those extra steps. I'm very picky when it comes to Cuban food since I grew up eating all the time. Their 2 for $20 special is a great deal for eating in. Two small appetizers and two entrees for $20, you really can't beat that and the portions are generous so you can take the leftovers home for the next day. Items I recommend: - Pancakes: OK, i know what youre thinking and trust me I'm not crazy. If youre visiting the restaurant around breakfast time, do yourself a favor and order a stack to share with your friends! - Guava Mimosas: Drop the basic mimosas and get a little tropical, after all you are in Hialeah! - Soups/Stews: I'm a soup lover and this place offers a great selection through out the week. I absolutely love their lobster bisque which is their Friday special. Their Chicharo soup (Split Pea soup) is hearty and flavorful. One of my favorites is their guizo de maiz (fresh corn stew) which is both sweet and savory and has huge chunks of meat and veggies. Pro tip: always order a side of white rice as a side when you order any of these stews so you can eat them together, you can thank me later ;) - Sandwiches: PLEASE DONT TRY TO CHANGE ANYTHING THAT IT COMES WITH! There is a method to the madness, believe me. I recommend the Miami Sandwich (pressed and over stuffed Cuban bread with Turkey, ham, bacon, swiss cheese, lettuce, tomato), media noche de pierna (better than the regular media noche in my opinion) or the croqueta preparada (not to be confused with the croqueta sandwhich , again trust me on this one). - Vaca frita de pollo: Typically "vaca frita" is made with beef but LC also makes this dish with shredded chicken breasts Theyare sautéed with onions with a nice citrus and garlic kick. They serving they give you is HUGE so make sure to buy some Cuban bread so you can make yourself a sandwich for lunch the next day. - Croquetas de jamon: some of the best croquettes youll ever eat, believe me! read more

Came to this place after a race at Amelia Earhart Park not far from it... guess what I was craving? ;) This Latin restaurant had a bit of everything that made it hard to make a choice. They have a special on sangrias and mimosas during the weekend. They also have a breakfast for lunch dish that look appealing. However I was looking more for a churrazco and good fire grilled chicken so my wife and I ordered one of each and shared :) Our server was very sweet. The place was packed, and she kept apologizing for the wait, but honestly, we were so happy with her service and checking on us every so often that didn't mind. We were hungry though, so she brought us extra bread to calm the loud stomach! Haha Anyway drinks came along, tasty sangrias. I was surprised by the amount of alcohol because usually restaurant sangrias are mostly watered down. Went for breakfast today, after 15 minutes of waiting because they would help the big tables first, which they arrive after me, the fries and the bacon swamped in grease and eggs barely cocked, had to wait another 10 minutes for the code was the small one , always an attitude and you can only deal with the one that took the order so no use talking to any other one. I'd give this place 3.5 stars. It's your typical Cuban spot in Hialeah. I love the Miami sandwich, which is what I always get. It's sliced ham, turkey, bacon, Swiss cheese, lettuce and tomato pressed between toasted Cuban bread. The Cuban toast isn't that great - it could be a little crispier. The cafe con leche is okay, and the ham croquetas are also okay - nothing out of this world. I'll give them props for achieving the perfect crisp on the outside and soft on the inside combination in their croquetas, but they could use a little more seasoning. read more

I find it SAD that I can get better and more authentic Cuban food in California! From start to finish this place was a hot mess. I am dumbfounded on the 4.5 rating but PLEASE read this review before dining here. If you are in the mood for shit service, Americanized Cuban food, and a nasty taste left in your month, then this is the place for you. Let me break it down: I should have realized from the menu that this wasn't the place but we were starved so I sucked it up. The menu has Hamburgers and Italian food on it. ?!?!?!. We started out with two appetizers, potato balls with ground meat and coquettes. The ground beef in the ball was cold, as in a little frozen! YUCK. I am still unsure what the filling of the coquettes were but they were a little more forgiving in taste than the potato balls. They also brought hard bread with a pound of butter to the table. I had a taste and then never touched it again. It was disgusting and embarrassing. I ordered the Bistec de Palomilla, because how hard is a thin piece of meat? Well apparently, pretty darn hard. It had no flavor, not even salt and pepper. I flagged down out waitress and asked for some minced garlic and lemon to help out. My sides were black beans and sweet plantains. The sides were just ok but I was annoyed by the menu. Here is what the side menu looked like: Choose any two: -Black Beans -Rice -Mix of Beans and Rice -Fries Pop Quiz: If you could choose two sides from this menu, would you be led to believe that the "mix of beans and rice" are two separate sides? Well i didn't, because why the hell would they even offer the mix if they already listed beans and rice as two different sides. We tried to order the mix and the plantains but they told us that that would be three sides, and not two. ?!?!?! Jason D ordered the roast pork (the most popular dish) and he wasn't over the moon about it. It was his birthday so I thought ok, maybe dessert will be better. NOPE. I just want to start with this leaving clear that I was not disrespected at any time but this is my opinion about the food and the service in this location, as soon as my wife and I got to the restaurant it wasnt nobody in the door, a randome waiter came to us and told us to seat anywhere, I thought that for a restaurant like this at least it will be somebody in the front directing people to their tables, our waiter attitude was beyond unprofessional talking to us without no manners at all, when we ask for our appetizer and drinks we told her to give us sometime to check the menu, we got our drinks and entries after 10 minutes of been requested (this is not the problem), but the issue came when it took her 30min to come to us again for our orders, all that time she dissapeared, almost 30 minutes to ask for our food, once we got our food after around another 20 minutes to get just some pan con bistec, the food had no taste, it felt like we were eating plastic food, in top of that our waiter took 40 extra minutes to come to us again, and thats because my wife call her for the check, then this is the funny part, when she came to us for the payment her actitude change, now that it was time to collect the money she was a total different person, a horrible experience for a restaurant that should know at least the basic ideas on costumer service! read more

I have been here 4 or 5 times in the last few years. My grandmother lives near here in Hialeah (with no air-conditioning if you can believe that). The food is great! They have awesome cuban sandwiches (medianoche is my favorite) and Masas de Puerco Fritas (fried cubes of pork - spectacular!). The Picadillo is great and you MUST order a plate of Mariquitas (thin, fried slices of plantain with mojo). We come here often since it's around the corner from my parents house. The food satisfies simple Cuban food cravings like cafe con leche, tostada, croquetas, old fashion Cuban chicken soup, and mariquitas. You're usually seated quickly if you dine in. There's also a little bar area where you seat yourself. And there's a window you can order from as well. Can't say the service has always been great. Last time I went through the window. Took a while before I was acknowledged. I'd call the waitress to order and she'd ignore me. Finally she took our order and took a while to bring it out. Tried this restaurant out after picking up some friends who were at Ultra and very hungry. They were from out of town and I thought some Cuban food would be perfect here in Magic City. This place turned out to be a perfect choice. There weren't many places open as it was around 2am, even on a Saturday. We saw some cars parked outside and decided to give it a try. The menu was pretty big and even satisfied some fairly picky eaters I was with. I love Cuban food because all of the meat dishes they have. There are tons of dishes I could order and that is pretty unusual for me. I ordered the shredded beef with rice and sweet plantains. It was delicious as usual. And the portions were huge. Not a single one of us cleaned our plate and this is something I usually take pride in. It made for some good leftovers on the next day. After my last review I decided to give this place a few other tries and it actually hasn't disappointed. We have made it a tradition to come for breakfast once or twice a week and sit in the outside area. I LOVE their breakfast... One of the few places in Hialeah where you'll get a good breakfast that's fulfilling and cheap. I always get the 'Desayuno Saludable' which brings scrambled egg whites with turkey, tomatoes and I add cheddar cheese and onions. The ONLY reason why I don't rate it 5 stars is because they charge you $1.50 to add onions... I find this a little excessive for a few onion pieces. I love everything else, the toast, OJ and grits. Love how they serve the cafe con leche, they bring the steamed milk (with lots of foam! YAY!) and bring the Cuban coffee separately. This makes me so happy- throughout my life I have never gotten my cafe con leche how I like it. I like mine extremely light and sweet, so preparing it myself makes me a damn happy camper. To begin we were seated in the front behind the hostess station literally in front of a trash bin (we were later treated as such). The appetizers we ordered first were actually pretty good ( order of empanadas and fried cheese, which was overpriced though ). It went downhill from there though. The chicken sandwish was soggy when it came out and the fries were cold. We decided to get a "homemade" tres leche which was actually probally bought at Sedanos in the same plaza (cake part was hard and not moist). To top it off the waitress took over 20 minutes to finally bring us our bill as she flirted with a cuban papi 2000 and was way much more friendlier to other patrons as me and my girlfriend did not feel the love. I was in Miami for just one night for my job and needed some after dark eats on my way back to the hotel. This place kinda jumped out at me and had decent yelp reviews so I decided to give it a try. I live in Chicago and I wanted Cuban food and I decided since I was in Miami and had been there several times before that it would hit the spot. We had just arrived server told us only four at a table and that she would sit my nephew at another table by himself. Mind you he's only nine I told her no and that I would not leave him by himself. She continued to have a bad attitude and when I spoke English she ignored me as if She couldn't understand me. My grandma tried to order her food and she was rolling her eyes, my grandpa is hard of hearing so I asked what was her problem. She right a way told me nothing but continued to give us all an attitude. There is more to say but Horrible service and food was disgusting...Never again also the manager she has a bad attitude.
