I've been coming to this place since I was a little girl and in all honesty the past few times I came it had sadly gone down in quality with the last time it not being open at all. That being said I came with my family, a large party, to celebrate my mothers birthday and we all had a great time. They accommodated all of us and the food was fresh and yummy. They brought out a speaker put music on for us and gave us. Yummy tiramisu. Sadly, I don't remember the waitresses or chefs names but they were all very nice. They told us they have live music Friday and Saturday nights as well. Do not skip this place!

What was once an iconic staple of Hialeah to go and consistently enjoy a good breakfast with great service has turned to a chaotic ambience and a less than enjoyable experience. My fiancé and his family had been dining here for 30 years and never have they left unsatisfied. Today however that experience has changed. The service was probably the biggest issue here. The waitresses were unfortunately either not trained properly or completely inexperienced as they were running around and looked lost the majority of the time. Our food was not the best either - the cheese on my ranch skillet was not melted entirely. Allegedly American bread and Cuban bread is one of the sides that's come with the dish but no - you are charged $2.50 for the Cuban bread which I never received. I asked for it several times and when she saw us get up and leave she just said "sorry!". My son had a waffle but after many attempts to get our waitresses attention we had to yell at the waitress "EXCUSE ME" for her to look up at us to ask for more coffee and get syrup for his waffles. My fiancés Spanish omelet was not to standard. This place needs to get at the very least their service right, otherwise , another one bites the dust.

They're open super early which is great for me! The food is pretty standard diner food. The coffee was not great but the cafe con leche was good! I'm not sure if I'll come back, the wait staff/ kitchen staff seemed to have issues with each other which made for an awkward experience.

Very homey. The food was delicious. The Cuban toast was the BEST that I've had in years! The service was also great.

Worth the drive to this diner. We were seated immensely and service was great. We enjoyed our breakfast.

I appreciate that I was able to have breakfast with my puppy outside . The waitress even brought me a disposable bowl with iced water for my pup.

You know when you want to like a place, because you see that it is under new management and changing..that they have a new dish that blows you away but another that's not so good? I'd eaten here before, for breakfast after an overnight in my office. Having just powernapped that night, their french toast still rings a tasty bell. As another reviewer noted, I also remembered the dark older decor. I was pleasantly surprised when I drove by and saw the "Under New Management" & "100 Craft Beers" signs and an updated color scheme. The vibe was an older crowd, especially with the Karaoke selections. I did hear a Don Sinatra track in there so I won't complain about that. If I had just ordered their Buffalo Chicken egg rolls I would have been a happy man and this review at least one or two stars higher. Served on a bed of lettuce, these were 4 or 5 breaded pieces of chicken and a spicy dipping side of cream cheese and an additional side of buffalo sauce for an extra kick. But I also ordered their bacon cheeseburger.. I didn't ask for tomato and lettuce on it because I was under the impression that such are default toppings on a burger. Yes I ordered it medium well, but in my past experience that does not equal overly crispy. I've ordered plenty of medium well burgers that were juicy. This one I had to leave half eaten. I mentioned it to my waitress afterward, but I'm leery of sending food back. I suppose it would have been nice to be offered a dessert menu, but that didn't happen. I'm looking forward to them fixing these things.

Our favorite time to visit is Sunday brunch, especially since they have a special menu. We recently came for Father's Day, and even though Julio was celebrating as a father himself, he was working incredibly hard to make sure every guest had a great experience. You can really see how much heart and dedication he pours into his business. As expected on Father's Day, there was a bit of a wait, especially since we were a larger party, but none of us minded. To thank us for our patience, Julio generously brought out croquetas for the table on the house, which was such a thoughtful gesture. I can't recommend Trigo Café enough. The food is consistently excellent, the service is warm and welcoming, and the atmosphere feels like home. While brunch is our favorite, their lunch and dinner are just as great, and the new tapas and wine area they recently added is a fantastic addition. If you haven't been, you're missing out!

Our gratitude is genuine, and the impact this support has on our local autism community is even greater. This was much more than a fundraiser. It was a beautiful social experience for our families and our children. It was an evening where one of our wonderful sponsors worked hand-in-hand with us to create a welcoming, inclusive, and enjoyable environment for everyone. Our families came together knowing they could relax, enjoy wonderful food, and simply spend time with people who understand one another. The waitstaff and kitchen team were incredibly kind, friendly, and attentive, always doing their best to accommodate our children and families. There was laughter, conversation, friendship, and of course, delicious food! From the amazing cheeseburgers to the enormous chicken sandwiches, everything was absolutely delicious! For many of our families, daily life can sometimes be challenging and stressful. Having the opportunity to sit together, enjoy dinner, laugh, talk, and feel completely accepted in an inclusive environment is truly priceless. To all the owners and employees of Mayor's Cafe, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. You left such a positive impression on our families, and we truly hope we can do this again next year! And there is even more to be thankful for! In addition to the $500 donation, which will be used toward one of our Hope for Autism Community Group's free activities for our families, Mayor's Cafe is also generously donating $200 in gift cards in support of our Hope for Autism "A Night in Paris" 19th Annual Gala. Your generosity, kindness, and commitment to our autism community mean more than words can express. THANK YOU, Mayor's Cafe, for opening your doors and your hearts to our families. May you all be blessed abundantly! With love and gratitude, Hope for Autism Community Group

Luckily it was a short wait, because the line could get very long. The inside is so cute and feels like a classic old school Miami diner. They have such fun speciality lattes & drinks, it was hard to choose but I opted for the guava latte which I really enjoyed. As an app, we got the buffalo chicken croquetas which was very unique but equally delicious. For our mains, my friend got the lechon breakfast sandwich which she liked. I got the pan con bistec which is definitely shareable. I did like it however I think the meat was just a touch dry. We also shared the cast iron pancake with a side of chocolate sauce. It was unreal and I'm still thinking about it. It is to no surprise that they have a Michelin Bib Gourmand. The food is high caliber and for a great price! The portions are also very generous. People sensationalize this place for their shareable pancake and their burger, but I view it as a very good value option that can also serve as a crowd pleaser. They brand themselves as Cuban-American, which I appreciate because it is certainly not Cuban. They have a menu that caters to people who want deeply flavorful foods but also others, such as vegetarians. The atmosphere is casual and relaxed and sitting outside is quite enticing, depending on the weather. I've always found the service to be great as well. It is located in a beautiful, walkable area in Coconut Grove. The only downside being that parking can be difficult and expensive, but still worth it. I've had several dishes at Chug's, have enjoyed all of them but would only classify the cast iron pancake as being outstanding. I would recommend that anyone who goes here try it, as it is perfectly balanced sweetness and butter with a cornbread-like texture. The only issue may be that it is quite large for just a couple. The pan con bistec is flavorful and their fries are perfectly cooked. The side salad is worthwhile as well if you're into those, as a light alternative to fries. The cuban american sandwich was surprisingly interesting to me. At first I was disappointed because it is not on Cuban bread. However, I found it to be delicious because it is well built and the ingredients go well together. I would not say that the meats are necessarily high quality, but the flavor is there. Lastly, and unfortunately, I find the colada here to be repulsive. It does not taste like a colada. Tastes like minerals and metal and why do they serve it in a glass without a handle? I don't understand it. Overall, I highly recommend this place for a pleasant, value-oriented dining experience in Coconut Grove.
