I hired Lasting Impressions to install an irrigation system around my house. The crew they sent to do the initial work were not employees of LIL and did shoddy work, which had to be corrected by a subsequent contractor I had to hire to complete the work. This project which started in May and should only have taken a few days to complete wasn't finished until mid-July. lIL was not responsive to my requests for updates on the status of the project. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS GUY HE DOES NOT PAY HIS SUBCONTRACTORS. Harold Jones and I got in contact back in June of 2025 he was in need of a crew to finish up 6 jobs he had going on. 2 days after making contact with him we walked all 6 job sites and started the following Monday. Harold had expressed he would cover all material cost and labor would be the only thing needed. It quickly went down hill from there. He promised cash flow and insisted that he was good for the money and continued to ask if I could cover cost of materials. After thousands of dollars spent on materials he begins to state customers haven't paid but he would get a draw soon. After 3 weeks of getting jobs done harold and I had agreed on an amount around 24,000 dollars. Harold then proceeded to make up several false narratives and say he's proceeding a different way after I have already spent 5k plus in material and completed work. He claims to not owe me anything. After speaking with several big name contractors around the area and multiple big name companies (Classic Rock/Covington Nursery) it was brought to my attention his name and face are all over walls in the area to not do business with him. He has screwed these companies out of 20k plus. This is not Harold Jones first time screwing people over and definitely will not be his last. He will preach that he is some good christian man that has morals and values and it's the biggest lie you will ever hear. I have spoken with previous customers in which he has taken there money and disappeared. Harold does not have his own crews he takes your money finds a crew to get the job done and then does not pay. I would not recommend using him for anything and I would not do business with him. Please go read his Yelp reviews before ever considering Lasting Impressions they are horrible. This has now put me in a hole and is going to cost even more money for lawyers to take proper legal action against him. We had Lasting Impressions come out and designed our front yard and plant three trees we had purchased from Fannin Tree Farm which we paid for them to do instead of Fannin. The design was just what we wanted. The work was almost complete when I made the mistake of paying the final check on May 10th. I KNOW SHAME ON ME. They never came back to complete the job of staking a tree they forgot to stake, trim a tree, correcting a incorrect tree bubbler they installed and return our shovel they took by mistake. After numerous texts and phone calls, Harold said they would return the shovel. Which they have not done as of yet. So the moral of the story, make sure the job is complete before you pay the last check. The ironic part of this story is we had planned for them to do a very expensive backyard job for us in the spring. Needless to say, we will find another company. read more

My recommendation is to stay far away from the Landscape company called Lasting Impressions, Cutting for a Cure and LI Services. They are all owned by Harold Jones. He changes the names hoping his reputation will not follow him. Check out the numerous sites listing all the complaints and negative reviews about this company. I hired his company to add on to an existing retaining wall, build a smaller retaining wall in another area bring in topsoil and plant grass. The wall they added on already had the drain holes installed. LI was supposed to put in the drainage stones and a barrier to keep the dirt from washing out through the drainpipes. They lied and did not do this. Now the sand I paid for that was brought in, to level the yard is flowing out of the drainage pipes. The second retaining wall they built has no drainage holes and is lower in one area causing water to stand. The water is coming through the mortar that holds the stones in place. The mortar is being washed away. That wall will not last long. The grass that was brought in was supposed to be shade tolerant Saint Augustine. It is not and is a mixture of two different grasses. Looks like Bermuda. The grass also sat on the crates for over three days before being installed. You are supposed to plant cut slabs of grass within 24 hours. I have been hand watering the grass every morning and evening hoping to revive it. It is not going to survive. When installing a drain from my gutter downspout to help with drainage in the back yard, they busted my sprinkler line in two places. They were supposed to check the irrigation system once everything was done in the back yard to make sure everything was receiving the water needed. They did not do this. They knew they hit the sprinkler line and just covered it up and went away. They left an unwanted boulder leaning against my wrought iron fence. I am unable to move it off my fence. I have contacted them several times about all the issues. I was told that they were very busy and would get back to me when they could. I have since found out that they were on vacation. Not working at all. I have not received any response from them in weeks. They took the money and did not finish. I did not do my due diligence and check this company out fully. Had I not been blinded by the pretty website showing jobs they "claim" to have done and believing Harold Jones to be an honest capable person, I would have seen the MANY complaints and negative reviews about this company. Do not be fooled as I was. To fix the issues his company caused is going to cost me a considerable amount I was not prepared to pay. read more

we initially met with Harold and agreed that his vision of how our yard could look aligned with ours. calls and messages to him were returned timely. he was on site for some time every day checking on the job and the crew. the quality of work was great and we had no problem with Harold at all. He delivered as agreed with the finished outcome looking awesome. we felt the value of the improvements were compatible with what he charged. When Harold was on site, he was laser focused on the work to a degree of perfectionism. he would move a plant or bush over 3 inches to place it where he felt was the perfect spot. I like that type of attention to detail. we are happy with how awesome the project turned out and feel we chose the right person for our job. read more

I hired Harlold (Hutch) Jones and lasting impressions and his wife Crystal, several years ago to repair a roughly 700 gallon concrete and stone koi pond and make it waterproof as it had a few leaks in the bottom. . It is about 15 feet by 4 feet and about 2.5 ft deep. I paid him half up front, I believe it was $2,200. His men started about a week or so later and while I wasn't available to supervise. It took them about 3 hours I was told. I came home to see his men had swept the pond clean and then painted the entire inside up to expected water level with black roof tar. And left. Jones finished! WTF?! ROOF TAR!!! Yes that is correct people, Petroleum is not compatible with aquatic life. We have all seen oil spills and the resulting environmental damage, rt?! Oil was floating on the water and roof tar never fully dries so this became a pond that could never have aquatic life or plants that would survive EVER. I admit they did a very good job of painting every square inch with tar. Very thorough work unfortunately. We never discussed using an oil based product much less straight up black tar. He refused to give me back the money and I had to sue him in order to get it back. I won of course and he was quite angry I remember. I then had to have the entire pond jack hammered out and rebuilt to remove the contaminated stone at roughly 3 times what I paid Harold. Another close friend of mine used him and paid him an even $6,000 for "materials" for a retaining wall job and he simply stole her money! A struggling single mother of 2 that he knew for years. Absolutely refused to pay her. She won a judgement against him at court which he never even bothered to attend or respond to. (This was August 2019) He did NOTHING to her home. Just took the $6,000 and walked away. This guy will rob you blind and sleep Like a baby. And I would be ashamed to have him as a friend or a family member. He has absolutely ZERO CHARACTER.. This guy is very well known around town to rip people off and has had multiple suits against him. Classic Rock a stone supplier in town keeps a list inside on it's wall behind the counter of the worst contractors in Rockwall to avoid.... guess who is #1? Yep Harold Jones and lasting impressions. I believe he ripped them off for around 20k. Please, Please avoid at all cost! He will underbid to get your money upfront and then steal it all. He's been sued so much that the bailiffs know him by name(not kidding) Please tell everyone if you hear his name or his business to avoid this guy. A few years ago Harold Jones, owner of Lasting Impressions did some work for me. His 2 week estimate for the project ended up lasting more than 2 months. Seems he only worked my project when he didn't have anything else going to put his employees on. The landscaping part was done satisfactorily. The pergola turned out nice only because I checked out the lumber when it arrived and noticed it was of much smaller dimensions. The main beams that were delivered were 4" x 6" when we had agreed on 8" x 10". Fortunately I had this stipulated in the cost estimate. When I called Harold out on this he blamed error on the company that delivered the lumber. (Highly unlikely) Harold also installed a putting green for me. He had told me he had experience doing this. But it didn't take long to realize he didn't have a clue what he was doing. We went round and round on this. Pulling surface up and working on the material he had made the base out of, then reinstalling the artificial surface. To his credit he kept trying but it was clear he did not know what to do to make it right. The end product was very bumpy and useless as a putting green. VERY disappointing. It looked ok from 75 feet, up close it was an eyesore. I finally gave up as I was sick of dealing with it. This was easily the worst experience I have ever had with a contractor. He can't get work done on your property because every person or company he uses for supplies or work don't get paid by him so they won't work with HAROLD JONES! He will spend your money on other jobs and his living expenses. Won't perform for the draw money you gave him and then ask you to pay the subcontractors. We had so many delays on the job that we finally realized he was using other jobs to pay for your job and he was trying to get the money to order supplies or find someone who he hadn't screwed to work for him. DO NOT use Harold Jones. He does not honor his "guarantee" for plant replacement if they die. He will constantly come up with an excuse and then blame it on you not watering, even when you can produce a $1000 water bill. Crooked all the way and robs Peter to pay Paul, job-to-job. The work he did for us produced foundation issues and settling due to his flower beds being to high and forcing water back to the foundation. Harold and his guys installed some add'l beds for us as well as new grass and underground drains for our heavy downspouts. Well......guess what.......his guys installed the wrong grass (after both my wife and I questioned the grass they were laying), cut my drip lines when installing the underground drains, and now he hasn't the decency or respect to correct what has been done. He came out and confirmed that his guys installed the "wrong" grass and that he would be replacing immediately. That was over a month ago and we still have the wrong grass. The bulk of the other work looks good, but we still have the wrong grass and we still have leaks in our irrigation. He won't return calls now and seems to be avoiding us. Guess I need to pursue alternate remedies as I am not ok with paying for the wrong grass and leaking lines. ***Spend more money and go with someone else.......trust me on this!!*** read more

I spent 23,000.00 for landscaping my yard in my new home 4 years ago. It included a water feature which has leaked since it was installed and still does to this day. My drip sprinklers (new from builder) were replaced with tubing that breaks constantly and is too far underground so mold grows beneath the mulch. The plants in your design don't all make it into the final display. I made the mistake of being at work the day they installed. A Japanese maple was planted in full sun and burns up every year. He's a landscaper for crying out loud he should know better. The oak and redbud trees did not have their root balls spread before planting and now the roots are growing in a big wad above the ground. Harold had his crew come out multiple times to fix the water feature then they finally stopped answering my calls. He was going to come back in the fall to trim trees and never saw him again. This man will take your money, do a poor job, never right his wrongs, and will forget about you as soon as he has his money. I don't know how he holds his head up in the community. SHAME ON HIM!!!!!! Harold Jones is a fraud. The job he did on our house was planted with plants too small, withered and died in he following months. This went on for several replanting of our landscape. A year and a half later, the plants still have not matured even under his guidance. Our sprinkler system he installed has required multiple head replacements due to inferior product installed. We used Harold to install sprinklers, grass and a flower bed around our newly built house. He completed the installation about 8 months ago, so I've had awhile to see what I really got for the money. His prices were very fair and he used excellent components in the sprinkler system. I have had a couple of very minor issues since and he came and addressed them both promptly and without charging me a dime. The plants he put in have grown well and look great. The grass also looks fantastic and the sprinkler systems works great. We've had a couple other landscapers do some adjacent houses in the neighborhood and they were charged more and don't look nearly as good. I'm surprised to see two other bad reviews on here. We must have had very different experiences in dealing with Harold. I know the other folks in our neighborhood who've used Harold were very satisfied also. read more

Had Harold do some landscaping work (to me somewhat pricey for what I ultimately received -- flowers died--however, they did do a nice job trimming my hedges). After the flowers died, contacted Harold about replacing dead flowers. In fairness, he was in complete agreement to replace. I asked how much to trim hedges again -- we agreed upon price. A couple weeks past and one afternoon I came home and flowers had been replaced. Looked at hedges and it appeared that two ornamental trees flanking walk had been very limitedly "trimmed". I figured perhaps they would return the next day to finish trimming. They did not return -- but Harold's bill was left in my mailbox charging me for a "light trim"! We had had NO discussion of "light trim" for the agreed upon price. When I texted him, "Sorry, I thought we had agreed to a price for trimming hedges and my surprise with what I got....and Wow...you really made a lasting impression", I was informed that by not calling him, I had "treated him like a dog" ( of course, I will file the text exchange for future references). It was obvious his overaction was the typical "best defense is a good offense"! I definitely believe he took advantage of me as he knows my husband is in Iraq! I of course, paid the bill but I would caution others with regards to him -- there are too many landscapers who are willing to do the right thing. I bought a red oak tree from Harold ( the owner) in the winter that supposed to have a one year warranty. Cost was $500.00 for the three inch tree planted by Lasting Impressions. In the spring the tree never leafed out so I called Harold and he said no problem it was under warranty he would have it replaced. After numerous months and no less than twenty calls the response from Harold was always the same, we are busy and just don't have time right now but we will replace the tree. Harold continued to lie to me all spring and summer about replacing the tree which he never replaced. This business is run by a disreputable and dishonest liar who no doubt does a lot of his customers the same way he did me. I will NEVER do business with this crook again and anyone that does should heed my warning about his so called Warranty. His word is no good !!! read more

I had three Palm trees installed by Harold and all three died. I had to have another landscape company come and remove them because they looked terrible in my back yard and Harold would never give us a date when he was going to come and replace them. He finally did send some of his guys to replace the Palm trees with totally different trees that looked in very poor shape. I called to let him know that these were not the trees that we originally had purchased and he said we should be happy because he replaced them with a much more expensive tree. I informed him of the condition of the palms and he told just to make sure and water them and that he had taken care of his obligation to replace the Palms. Another landscape company had to come and remove the trees to try and replant them because Harold's guys did not plant them correctly and they informed me that the trees were in very bad shape and should and would probably not live. So, I had to replace the trees with new palms and NO (I DID NOT USE LASTING IMPRESSIONS NOR WILL I EVER AGAIN). Do not trust Harold. But don't just take my word for this, go to Covington Nursery (off the George Bush) or Classic Rock Stone Yard (off 66) and ask about their business with him. read more

Quite surprised to see no other reviews regarding this business considering what I have learned through & since our dealings with Lasting Impressions & Harold - the owner. It left a lasting impression alright but not one you will be happy with. If you are considering using him for anything RUN & find someone else it doesn't matter how much cheaper he says he will be. I had an estimate in writing for the reconstruction of a small existing pond that we wished to use for a koi pond but had a leak. The estimate involved tearing out existing rock to line the pond and putting the rock back afterwards for a total of $7,567. After several weeks of him not starting the job on time "due to rain" I came home to find that instead of doing what we discussed & was outlined in a detailed estimate he provided that he had decided to paint the inside of the pond with roof tar even though he knew & it stated in his estimate that we intended to put koi in it upon completion. Roof tar is petroleum based & toxic to anything living. It rained right after he did this & it looked like an oil slick. We asked him to dig up the rock that was tainted going back to the original agreement we had with him in writing & he said he would fix it or refund our money - never saw or heard from him again until court today. We sued him for the money he took plus court costs but it didn't include all the rock that could have been reused but was rendered useless because of the roof tar. Needless to say we won a full judgment. Turns out Lasting Impressions & the owner Harold have quite the reputation for doing stuff like this but unfortunately no one has written anything about it & probably not had the time or the energy to take him to court. I can assure you he is a thief & you will most likely not get what you contracted for.
