I contacted this business for a few tree removals and the representative who answered was apathetic and sounded like the last thing he wanted to do was work here. I inquired about the service and had to ask if he was engaged in the call twice. The guy brushed off my inquiry, stating that East Dallas, closer to Pleasant Grove was too far even though their website clearly states that they serve both Dallas and Tarrant county. It's a shame that a company with "More Than 50 Years' Combined Experience" conducts business in this manner when a prospective client calls. I hope that this person was simply having a bad day, but if not, I would highly discourage anyone from hiring this group for your tree removal service and opt for a more professional approach with a company that's happy to take the business and your money. I had initially called because I had questions about whether they could plant some trees for me... Because it was so close to the pool, they did not recommend planting trees, as the roots could grow into the pool and cause some cracks... He did recommend certain trimming that needed to be done, as there has been a lot of damage from the tornado last year, and many of the trees looked lopsided and uneven... he gave me a reasonable quote and within a week or two his men arrived and started the work... It was a big and difficult job, and we could not be more satisfied both with the outcome and his service. He gave us an excellent quote, and he completed every detail he committed to doing in the quote, including complex root and stump removal that required removing and then resetting a portion of fence. Todd Brown is a huge jerk. I had used the company for many years but never had to deal with him. I contacted them and needed my usual services completed before a large landscape job I had scheduled. I gave them 3 weeks to complete the job and gave them all the timelines required. I also called them every week for a status. I finally couldn't wait any longer to complete my landscape job. The day after I had spent thousands on landscaping and the day before a large event at my home, they showed up! They made a mess of my front yard and we were cleaning up after them the night before the party. I also had to contact my landscaper to come out and determine if they had damaged all the new sod, dirt and mulch I had installed. Life is too short and there are too many other competent arborists to waste on this man. read more

Whatever you do, don't ever call "A Better Arborist Tree Service", especially if you've moved to Texas and have an out of state phone number. I called to see about tree removal, and since I have the temerity of having a New York phone number, when I called and the owner picked up by answering "go f*** yourself since obviously you're selling something and from NY". Stupidly, I tried to explain myself, saying I wasn't from NY but that I was looking for tree removal in the Dallas area. He belligerently yelled at me, repeating "go fuck yourself and don't call me with a New York number. If you live in Texas then change your F***ing number". Real nice guy. I lost a large Bradford Pear Tree in a storm. During the Covid-19 lockdown. I had a bunch of storm chasers flood my house trying to get the job. I used yelp and they sent it to multiple companies. I also used home advisor. I had emailed Todd as well. I know his company gets busy and was not sure if they would have time for a removal. I am on a budget and it was a large tree. Out of all the quotes Todd beat all of them and his crew completed the work within an hour of arriving they even took care of 2 other landscape issues I had while they were there for no additional charge. He has a large efficient crew and top of the line equipment to get any job done. I saw complaint about Todd being a jerk. Todd is a straight shooter. He tells you like it is. Sometimes people can't handle the truth. He told me what he was looking at right away and helped me out on the pricing. It you want a good fast efficient tree service provider then go with Todd. I emailed the web site at 2130 at night (930 PM) about buying firewood. I got a call at 0800 from Todd the next morning and delivery of a 1/4 cord by noon. Very responsive. Split oak is a bit hard to find right now, so it was a little more expensive than usual, but the service was impressive. I read the reviews, and didn't experience anything unpleasant- on the contrary - Todd and I had a nice chat on the phone, despite several of my distractions and interruptions, made a deal, and he delivered exactly what we agreed to, earlier than expected. The service that they provided actually saved my tree. I had no idea that this kind of service was available to repair a tree. Upon a referral from my father-in-law, I called the owner, Todd Brown, of A Better Arborist inquiring if he could come bid a job trimming 5 trees on our property. Over the phone, he quickly assumed this was a "small job" and began to explain to me the problem he had taking on "small jobs" when he had $6,000 jobs to attend to. When I started to let him off the hook, he said he would "do me a favor" and come by that week (Thu, Fri or Sat) and just do the job. Thu, Fri, Sat came and no word and no show from Todd. After a no show, I contacted him and he failed to remember my name, address or the job (as we had discussed in detail). Todd promised to come do the work the following week at a specific date and time. When he didn't show again, I called him. He once again, did not remember my name, the address nor the details of the job. Todd made numerous excuses as to why he no-showed again and promised to show up the next day. Lacking confidence in his professionalism, I found an arborist who was available the very next day and decided to go with this company. Upon contacting Todd to cancel the appointment (not mentioning how he could not remember me nor the job that we had discussed in detail several times- based upon a referral from a previous client), he began berating me over the phone for cancelling the appointment and began attacking me verbally with profanities, instructing me to go to F'ng H*ll. I strongly reccommend that you DO NOT USE A Better Arborist. There is definitely a better arborist out there! read more
