I just had LASIK done today and I have nothing but amazing things to say about LASIK plus! Irene, the reception staff, and Dr. Aymond were so accommodating and friendly getting me through the procedure this morning. I show up at 10:00 with the assumption of being there for 2 hours. I checked in with the reception- she walked me through all the paperwork & made sure I had all my medicine and payment straightened out. Irene went through what to expect in the upcoming days/month and gave me a direction sheet to keep at home. Dr. Aymond met with me specifically before the procedure and talked me through EVERY SECOND of the procedure. Gave me time updates and where to focus. The whole Lasik process has been easy since the day I came in for my consult. The staff was friendly, knowledgeable and all my questions answered completely. The day of procedure I was nervous but the staff was able to calm my fears and talk me through the entire process as well as post-care. The whole procedure itself lasted about 10 minutes and I have absolutely no pain. Dr. Aymond talks you through the entire procedure and is very comforting throughout. I just came in for my follow up appointment and as of today (less than 24 hours after procedure). I have 20/20 vision. My suggestion is to follow the post care instructions strictly and your recovery will be much quicker. Swelling is normal, I have some and have been assured it will pass within the next few days. I feel I have to update my review. After a high price tag on something that I feel I should not have to pay all of it. After sitting in their waiting room for 3 hours, because someone left my chart in another area, I feel the doctor said anything to me that I would want to hear, because they forgot about me. I said that I didn't want to wear glasses anymore, and he said" you'll still need readers". Okay I get that, most people usually do. With that being said, what do you think his comment meant? That you would wear readers when you read anything close or arms length, right! WRONG! I have to wear them all the time! What part did he not get when I said I don't want to wear glasses!!! They gave me my distance, but took away my closeness! I can't tell you how screwed up my eyes are. It's a joke! If I can give you some helpful advice, DON'T, I REPEAT,DON'T DO IT! Definately as good as it gets and then some. I just left my 3 month follow up. My vision is 20/20 each eye & 20/20 PLUS both eyes combined. From the initial free consultation to leaving the office today the staff has been friendly & awesome at making you feel very welcome. I had PRK done, so my healing time was a bit longer than regular lasik. Everytime I called the office wondering why my vision was blurry they were great at making me feel at ease & reassuring me that everything was normal. I was having so much trouble with my vision in contacts and eyeglasses that I was desperate to be able to see. I finally decided to get the lasik procedure done and I can finally see as clear as when I was a child. I still have some normal side effects like blurriness and glare in one eye but it's not bad and to be expected (it's only a few days after surgery) Dr. Allen was my doctor. He was great! The procedure lasted only 5-10 min and he explained everything so it made me feel less nervous. I am so happy with my vision now and I am hoping the minor normal issues will go away in the upcoming months. So excited for my new 20/20 vision!!! Also want to note that everyone is very kind there.. techs, front desk, and doctors. It is not $250 per eye unless you have decent vision already. I was the classic coke bottle thick glasses/contact wearer for 40plus years. My husband had LASIK done by the king in 2012 and walked away with perfect vision. I finally decided to go through with the procedure last august. I found the staff friendly and helpful and despite the sheer number of people going through, felt they cared about my procedure. I had the procedure and woke up the next morning with vision that was clearly not 20/20. It turns out they did not calibrate the machines correctly and I got an under correction. Dr Uhbi was disappointed that I did not get the proper correction and wrote me a script for glasses. He stated I had two options: wait two weeks for the laser center to send me a pair of glasses or they would give me $150 toward a pair if I wanted to purchase my own. I am sure anyone who has worn glasses knows that finding decent looking glasses is difficult for less than $200. With my eyesight I needed to wear them almost constantly and was told I could not wear contacts as my flaps neede to heal. In February my eyes had healed sufficiently to have the procedure for the second time. By this time I had incurred costs for both regular glasses and prescription sunglasses (which I needed to be able to drive in the snow). I also ncurred an additional $65 in medication costs. My frustration was that I summitted the bill for $350 to cover my expenses on top of the $3500 I laid out for the procedure. They will only reimburse me for $150 of it. I brought this up to dr Ubhi yesterday at my three week recheck and he completely ignored my comment. While I have the desired eyesight now, it was not without the consternation of needling a second procedure and at additional personal expense to me. read more

Ok, just left this place and I am a little upset. I have wanted Lasik for years, I got a great offer via email from them saying they were having a special, $600 off, 0% financing 18 month, payments less than $100 a month. Quote from the email: "You can have 20/20 vision* for 18 monthly payments of less than $100^. And right now, you can combine these low monthly payments with our $600* off LASIK offer for ultimate savings" So I set my appointment. Very nice people, clean facility, cannot say anything bad about the place until we start talking about money. They told me my vision what to bad for the "Standard Treatment" and that due to my script, Lasik would be $3600.00! That's Double of what I was expecting to pay. This is false advertising! I spent over 3 hours at this place; I wasted my time, the companies' time, had my eyes screwed with and did a lot of waiting for absolutely nothing. I would recommend not believing them when it comes to pricing. They were not upfront and tricky when it came to the money. If I knew this costs $3600, I would not have went in! I know I did not want to spend that much money. I was like WOW $1,800 I am finally getting Lasik, I took time off of work and everything, very frustrating experience. This a review written by an M.D. (just to give perspective, given I work in the field of medicine on a daily basis, and see how various practices run in different hospital and clinic settings). . First off, I had terrible vision (key word: HAD), about -10 in both eyes. I am a very active person who enjoys weight lifting, hiking, swimming, running, target shooting, and always have been hampered by my poor vision, the need for glasses, or getting something caught in my contacts, etc. You get the point. . 24 hours after my procedure, I experienced something I haven't experienced since the 3rd grade.... clear vision after waking up from bed! In the span of a day, I've gone from wearing coke bottle glasses to basically having 20/20 vision. I am forever grateful to the wonderful clinicians and staff at LasikPlus in Schaumburg for this Life Changing procedure. . Staff: the staff were very helpful from beginning to end. From greeting me with a friendly hello, helping me with the paperwork, taking care of the initial parts of the eye exams, explaining the billing process, making sure I took advantage of all my potential discounts, and helping me easily set up financing options and followup appointments and answering all my questions along the way. . Clinicians: Dr. Ubhi was the optometrist who performed my screening exam, and was very professional and thorough, with excellent bedside manner. He realized I had not been out of contacts long enough prior to my initial exam, and asked me to come back for another re-check. (This actually was very reassuring, as it made me feel they wanted to genuinely make sure I was a good candidate, vs. just funneling people through without being thorough). He explained the various risks, benefits, etc., explained what made me an appropriate candidate for Lasik and what to expect on treatment day. Made sure I had all the prescriptions for eye drops prior to procedure day. And despite the fact his clinic day was packed, took the time to answer all my questions without making me feel rushed at all. . Dr. David King Aymond M.D. performed the actual LASIK procedure. He made sure to sit down with me and answer any last minute questions I may have had prior to the procedure. Walked me through how the procedure would go, step-by-step, and made sure to highlight certain parts of the procedure that tend to be more anxiety provoking than others and gave me tips on how to stay relaxed. The procedure itself went smoothly. At every point, I felt like I was in good hands, and he would make sure to check in frequently to see how I was doing (though it was a very brief procedure, literally about 38 seconds per eye!). . The staff are very thorough with their followup instructions, and give you a print out of a detailed guide of your eye-drop regimen post-op which is very handy. . All in all, a wonderful, life-changing experience that is affordable, and worth every penny. My aunt came to LasikPlus and had the same results. I'm updating my review because the doctor did make several attempts to contact me after I emailed their program director in response to an email that I received from her stating that I missed my appt. (not true as originally explained). The doctor admitted that they had "dropped the ball" and appeared to indicate that this was because they didn't have a program director on site to ensure patient follow up when messages are left or when other staff members tell a patient that the doctor will call back. Although the doctor left several messages and sounded sincere I did not return any phone calls because I was initially out of the country on business, and then once back I had already decided that there was nothing they could do to convince me that my eyes would be in good hands. I need to have confidence that someone is going to be there before and after the lasik procedure. Plus I'd probably feel awkward because now I'm the person that "complained" -- I don't need to deal with that. Since then I've been to two other competitors (TLC & Dr. Kraft) and both have been great experiences so far. LasikPlus is cheaper than both, but cut backs in things like having a program director made all the difference for me. I decided to go with TLC because they were middle of the road when it comes to price and they have been professional and very responsive from the very beginning. I'm excited once again to finally get lasik and I'm completely at ease! I would definitely challenge any lasik provider by leaving at least one after hours message and maybe request to a staff member to speak with one of the doctors that will actually perform the procedure and see for yourself how responsive they are. I can understand an isolated incident and I would never have complained or made this posting if this was the case. I'm bumping up my review by one star for the effort made by the doctor at this facility. I have been having issues wearing contacts and after doing research on facilities and the procedures decided to be evaluated for Lasik at LasikPlus. I had my initial evaluation and a second follow up 3 days later to make sure that I was a qualified candidate as my contacts had not been out long enough. I was told that I would qualify for PRK not Lasik after second evaluation visit with Dr. Ubhi and he explained the differences and I was given a handout detailing the procedure and I was scheduled. I was fully prepared for the additional time of recovery (I had taken a week off work) and had all my medications required in hand, and arrived on site for my surgery on Monday. I was told they needed to do a quick re-check on my left eye. The girl who was performing this test explained they were trying to determine if I could have the Lasik after all vs. the PRK. Imagine my surprise when Dr. Aymond called me into an office and explained that I would not be having the procedure at all as my one eye was borderline and he would want a second opinion. I was shocked as this was the first I had been told of any issue that would prevent me from have the procedure up to this point. I do respect the honesty of Dr. Aymond and of course would not want my vision compromised. What I did not appreciate is that up to my speaking with him (the day of surgery), no one ever mentioned there was a potential issue. I was misled about the reason for that final checkup of that eye before I met with Dr. Aymond, which I find insulting. I was offered a referral for a second opinion but was told that this cost would more than likely be at my expense. The Dr. walked me out to reception and no one spoke to me until my husband came to pick me up. The parting comment from the lady in reception was she would call me with a referral and "it is better you find out now" I am guessing as opposed to having non repairable vision issue. I have still not heard from anyone regarding the second opinion and at this juncture I would be leery of an further dealings with this facility. I work in an industry that services customers in times of crises and understand everything does not always go perfectly. It is how you handle issues when they occur that tells the story of the company you are dealing with. That being said, I would not recommend LasikPlus based on my experience. I am happy for those who have had a great experience and hope that in sharing this LasikPlus will use this to train their staff so this doesn't happen to someone else. read more

UPDATE 2: 9 months post-LASIK: I decided to go in for a free check up since I was told that I could have free vision check ups. There were no questions asked or problems with booking it and indeed, I had a free check-up. Still seeing better than 20/20, and still 100% satisfied with the results. Also, how neat is it to have the ability to get a free check up? When was the last time you ever had a doctor fix you up then say you could come back for free at any time for a check up! I have had no lasting side effects, and in fact my eyes are far less likely now to feel dry than they would when I wore contacts. I have to say, I used to spend $400 a year on vision check ups and what I was told were some of the best most comfortable contacts. I wish I had done LASIK years ago, because looking back, wearing contacts was like throwing my money away. UPDATE 1: 3 Weeks post-LASIK: I cannot be happier that I had LASIK done at LasikPlus. Three weeks post LASIK I tested better than 20/20 vision - I am at 20/15! Just a month ago, people's faces a few feet away would be peach or brown smears, and now I can see everything. It is like I have upgraded my eyes to HD. 3 weeks ago: WOW! I just had LASIK yesterday, and I already see amazing, I couldn't even tell apart facial features from across the room, now I can see the time on the tiny digital display on the microwave from across the room. But other than the great job they did, the staff was ALL courteous and patient, and at each step they stopped and asked me if I had any questions for them or not. Every time I walked into the place, the front desk girls all knew my name and greeted me by it. The doctors that did my eye assessment were both super sweet, and friendly to talk to, and took their time assessing everything. The doc prescribed me plenty of medications to make sure I was comfortable. I got 10mg Valium before the surgery, which kept me nice and relaxed all through my LASIK procedure. Dr. Aymond talked me through the entire process during the surgery, and his kind patient voice made it all the more pain free - "10 more seconds, you're doing great, five more seconds, you're all done! Good job!" etc. The little touches were great - they handed me a little stuffed monkey to hold onto through the procedure, and I admit I strangled that poor monkey to death, I reckon, in anticipation before things got started on the first eye. However, soon as I realized that I felt NO pain whatsoever, I relaxed entirely. They gave me an emergency number to dial that went straight to the doctor at home in case things went wrong for me, but I didn't need to dial it. After my surgery, the surgeon met with me again just to check in, and I said, "All I want to do is shake your hand again," grinning like crazy, because it was probably as painless and stress free as things could've gone. So, so satisfied already, and it's only been about 14 hours since my surgery. If you're thinking about it, just DO IT, Dr. Aymond and all his staff were awesome. read more

During the initial appointment, they answered all my questions and gave me some time to think it over. I opted to take the plunge. The morning of my procedure, they talked me through all the details of what I'd feel and what each medication was for and when I'd need it. They answered all my questions while I was healing. I've never left a yelp review before, but I am in this case because for something like lasik I appreciated all the reviews I could get and I'm sure others would feel the same. I had my procedure done on 2/13/15 and it's 2/15/15 today, so obviously my eyes are still very much in the process of healing, but my vision for the last two day had been exceptional. I feel that my vision is as good as with my glasses or contacts, and I would assume that my eyes will continue to improve. The only side effect I have experienced thus far are very slight halos around bright lights, but I understand that this is a very common side effect as my eyes heal. The staff at lasik plus have been extremely friendly and the follow up and appointment processes have been very easy and stress free. You start with an initial consultation, which is free, to determine if you are a candidate. My initial consultation was done with Dr. Ubhi (and I believe he does all the consultations and follow ups). He was very friendly, thorough, and remembered me and all my scheduled appointments. I feel like he really took an interest. During my consultation, he had me repeat a couple tests to make sure he was getting the best results so that I would have an accurate exam. If it turns out you are a candidate for one of the procedures, you are given a packet of info about the procedure, the cost breakdown, consent forms, and a prescription for everything you'll need for the procedure to be brought home and looked over. Should you decide to schedule the surgery, you have that prescription already in hand so you can fill out and bring it with you. I appreciated that everything was so streamlined so that when the time for the surgery came, all you had to do was fill out the paperwork and briefly go over the pre and post surgery steps. The post surgery follow-up was scheduled in advance so that was one less thing I had to think about the day of the surgery. The first follow-up is set one or two days after the surgery. I met Dr. King just before the surgery. He introduced himself and briefly went over the lasik process and what I needed to expect. He was very calm and explained everything well in a way that seemed liked this was a very routine procedure, which made me feel less nervous, because I got the impression that he had quite a lot of experience (which he does). He walked me through the surgery step by step as it was happening and made sure I was aware of what he was doing the whole time and made sure I was comfortable during the process. The whole thing was very streamlined, comfortable, easy, and as far as I can tell, successful. My next day followup with Dr. Ubhi also went well and we were both very optimistic with the results. I should also mention that the staff explained my post-surgery eyedrop routine in great detail, and told me to call immediately with any questions or concerns, however, since everything was explained in depth already, I haven't felt the need. I highly recommend this lasik center if you're interested in lasik. My experience has been extremely positive and I hope my eyes continue to improve as they heal. read more

Zero Stars! I am writing this to warn people that LasikPlus provides slanted and false information to perspective clients. I was falsely assured twice by LasikPlus that I was an outstanding candidate for lasik eye surgery. On the day of my surgery I informed Dr. Horn that my eyes were irritated and swollen, but Dr. Horn assured me that I was fine for the surgery and so I proceeded. However the procedure resulted in causing me problem after problem. Dr. Horn promised me that he would verify what happened and help me, but this turned out to be lip service. I advise against this procedure, but if you are determined to proceed, please be evaluated by a professional not affiliated with LasikPlus and do not trust Dr. Horn. read more

I am very happy with my lasik from LasikPlus ! After almost getting my eyes hacked open by vision one, I ended up here. Even the diagnostic was really thorough. Although I had previously been told I'm only a candidate for PRK. I was thrilled when Dr. Ubhi told me that I could get bladeless laser!!!! I have a small child at home so quick recovery was important. Within a month I'd had my procedure. Eventually, I felt as though one eye was "off." Dr. Ubhi assured me that if I needed a tweak it would happen, however to ensure complete healing I waited the 6 months. I felt heard and am waiting for my tweaking follow up. I love that Dr. Aymond explained everything as it was happening.The staff are so nice as well. I was even greeted by name upon walking in for my tweaking procedure. If you are considering doing vision correction surgery, this place is the best. I am a nurse and deal with doctors and patients all day. Which means i am a pretty harsh person to impress! I was thoroughly impressed with everyone here. From the front desk staff, to the doctor that did the evaluation (Dr Ubhi rocks), to the surgeon Dr Aymond, they were all fantastic.
